System's POV

Chapter 1417: The Weight Of Countless Worlds [Part 5]

William teleported away before the giant staff could smack him senseless.

During the countless times he had used this weapon in the past, never in his wildest dreams did he imagine being on the receiving end of Ruyi Jingu Bang’s destructive power.

The Half-Elf still couldn’t believe that he had fallen for such a simple trick.

Perhaps his impression of the young man was better than he thought. At the least, he thought that someone asking for his daughter’s hand would be an honorable person—or would at least pretend to be one!

He even thought that Zion was righteous.

That he was a man of his word.

But the System of Cannon Fodders didn’t care for such things.

How many times had his Hosts suffered betrayal after believing the words of the people around them?

How many times had they almost died, assuming the Heroes who negotiated with them were honorable and righteous?

Thirteen had witnessed a fair share of such betrayals.

Righteousness? Honor? Only those truly righteous Heroes cared about those things.

He wasn’t a Hero.

He wasn’t a villain either. Thirteen merely decided to play the role of a Villain because it made things easier.

All he needed to do was emulate a villain to achieve his goal, so why not?

As for what the people around him would think of him...

He didn’t give a hoot!

"Illuminate the World!" William roared. "Rhongomyniad!"

It had been a while since the Half-Elf had used his weapons in battle. But since he had lost Ruyi Jingu Bang, he could only use the rest of his Legendary Weapons to face off against his shameless opponent.

A beam of light burst out from the distance and headed straight toward Thirteen.

But since Ruyi Jingu Bang was in his hand, the teenage boy easily blocked the attack with his giant staff.

Although the attack was successfully blocked, William wasn’t done just yet. Dozens of legendary weapons hovered around his body, lending their strength to their Master.

"Exterminate!" William pointed the arrow that was nocked on his bow in Zion’s direction. "Khyrselakatos!"

The green arrow flew, leaving a trail of green light in its wake.

It then split, multiplying itself to hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of arrows that blocked the entire sky, raining down on Thirteen like countless green shooting stars.

But Thirteen remained unfazed. With a single side sweep of Ruyi Jingu Bang, he destroyed the arrows that should have overwhelmed him with sheer numbers.

Suddenly, he saw something from the corner of his eye, forcing him to use the wooden staff in his left hand to block whatever it was.

What Thirteen had blocked was a spear, but it wasn’t any ordinary spear.

"You used Gungnir for a sneak attack?" Thirteen arched an eyebrow. "At least you know what you’re doing."

But it didn’t end there. William summoned two more spears and hurled them at the teenage boy, who managed to block Gungnir, a spear that was supposed to never miss its target.

"Pierce through the Void, Longinus!"

"Go for the kill, Gaebolg!"

The two deadly spears zigzagged across each other, leaving traces of red and gold in the sky.

These spears were the real deal, and even Thirteen had to take them seriously because a single mistake would lead to his death.

’He’s really bringing out the big guns huh?’ Thirteen thought as he dodged the two sentient spears who refused to be swatted away by Ruyi Jingu Bang.

But at the corner of his eye, he saw another flash of light coming from William’s direction.

"Quick Shot War Arts, First Form!" William "Railgun!"

A booming sound pierced through the firmament as the Half-Elf unleashed one of his most destructive war arts.

With three threats flying towards him in three different directions, Thirteen also decided to use a skill to make things fair.

"Skip."

He only uttered a single word, and yet, Thirteen suddenly appeared in front of the Half-Elf and planted his foot on his face.

The attack had come out of nowhere, so he couldn’t even react. How could he defend against something that broke the rules of combat?

Simply put, Thirteen decided to kick William’s face from his location. By using the power of the Skip God, his attack connected instantly without him going through the motions.

When Thirteen decided to make the Skip God his Patron God, he wasn’t just choosing some random God.

He chose the God whom he calculated would give him the best benefits.

William quickly recovered from the attack and teleported away to safety.

But to his surprise, a giant staff was already waiting in the place where he reappeared.

Ruyi Jingu Bang swatted the Half-Elf silly, and sent him flying toward the ground at the speed of sound.

But William wasn’t someone who could be beaten so easily, so he forced himself to regain balance a few miles above ground.

Thirteen was about to continue to attack but stopped when he saw a giant Wren fly over to where the Half-Elf was.

It was Stella. Attacking right now might endanger her, and neither of the two would risk that.

"Please stop fighting each other!" Stella shouted. "Zion, please stop!"

Before the teenage boy could reply, he felt two pokes on the left and right side of his body.

Hovering beside him was none other than Maple and Cinnamon, who were both pouting at him.

"Okay, I’ll stop," Thirteen said before releasing both the wooden staff and Ruyi Jingu Bang at the same time.

The two staff flew toward outer space as if they had been freed from the clutches of a Demon Lord.

"You shouldn’t have stopped us, Stella," William said to his daughter. "I was about to make a comeback."

The young lady gave her father the ’what-come-back-are-you-talking-about’ glare.

Although she knew that her father was strong, Zion’s current strength had somehow reached a level that could even overwhelm the strongest Guardian of Hestia.

Even if this boost was only temporary, right now, there was no doubt in everyone’s mind that Thirteen had won this duel hands down.

He didn’t only win by strength.

He won by wit and shamelessness.

Even Sun Wukong had admitted that Thirteen learned shamelessness from him.
