Chapter 531- Eleanor’s Performance
Chapter 531: Chapter 531- Eleanor’s Performance
"Governor, is it true that Snowpoint City is going to sponsor Miss Eleanor?"
"Sir Reinhardt, in the previous crusade, how many demons did you kill?"
Of course, they never reached him. Knights of his order moved with efficiency, forming a barrier that stopped anyone from approaching too close. Whether it be reporters or any random fan, they were all stopped in their tracks.
Some tried to slip past but were instantly captured; others knew better than to test these knights who go through hellish training every single day.
Thanks to the presence of the knights, Reinhardt and Melissa were able to reach their destination without problem. Arriving at the entrance of the building, he finally saw her.
There, standing among her crew while being bathed by the glow of the crystals, she looked absolutely glamorous. Her golden hair cascaded over one eye, the ends tinged with soft hues of ember and rose. She was wearing a white gown that hugged her figure elegantly; its design was bold yet regal, accented with gold trim and a sapphire pendant resting against her chest. Her every little gesture was expressive, attracting eyes from all over.
The moment Reinhardt discovered her, Eleanor too saw him. Her crimson eyes met his, and for a heartbeat, the noise of the square faded.
"You look beautiful," Reinhardt spoke, arriving closer. He looked at the woman closely.
Gone were the days when she was crushed beneath years of failure and silence. In her place now stood a performer, reborn, radiant, confident, and dangerous in her beauty.
Looking at her, one wouldn’t even believe that she was the same woman he met half a year ago. The changes in her were that extreme. That said, it was a pleasant change.
As someone who was quite versed in reading others’ thoughts, Eleanor easily read his thoughts, feeling touched. "Thank you for coming."
The latter smiled. Today was a grand day for her as it marked her restart. The life that she had abandoned, the craft that she loved. Today she was going to perform in front of an audience after more than two years.
Had it been any other girl, simply standing in front of the masses again after suffering from that trauma would be enough to make them unable to return to the industry again. However, Eleanor did not let that hold her back. She bravely faced her fears.
Of course, she was afraid; her body was trembling ever so slightly. That said, she did not let that surface and suppressed all those emotions down. All because Reinhardt was here.
His existence had, at some unknown point in time, unbeknownst to even her, become a ray of hope and strength for her.
At some unknown point in time, unbeknownst to even her, her motivation to return had changed. If asked previously why she wanted to become an actress, she would most likely reply along the lines of "Because I love the craft."
However, now... she wanted to do it because she didn’t want to let down the only person who believed and supported her in her darkest of times. She wanted to become an existence who could help and walk beside him.
"Don’t worry about anything and give it your all. With me here, you are safe." It was just some simple lines of reassurance, but it reached deeper than any applause or words from others could.
Eleanor nodded; her fingers tightened for just a moment around the edge of her shawl, then she straightened, professionalism settling over her like armour.
Reinhardt and Melissa exchanged a few more words with her before it was time for the ceremony. Reinhardt stepped forward to inaugurate the theatre. The moment the ribbon was cut, the crowd erupted in excitement.
With this, one of the three great attractions of Snowpoint City was finally operational.
A little distance away, Eleanor nodded towards him before disappearing inside with her crew. Reinhardt and Melissa followed shortly after.
As the governor of the city, he was led to the VIP lounge, positioned high above the main seating. From there, the view of the stage was unobstructed; he could see every inch of the stage and even the performers with pristine clarity.
Reinhardt looked around and noticed that the theatre was completely packed. Even though it was just the opening, not a single seat lay empty. Reporters crowded the aisles, crystal lenses and cameras in hand, ready to record every moment.
The air buzzed with excitement, the city had never felt before.
Reinhardt smiled in satisfaction. While the idea of a theatre was something he randomly came up with to make money flow in the city, this venture was already promising.
A short while later, there was a knock on the door and servants entered, pushing a neatly arranged trolley, serving warm tea, small pastries, and lightly spiced snacks meant to cut through the winter chill. Reinhardt did not refuse. He accepted the cup, blew on the steam, and gracefully took a measured sip.
Melissa, sitting by his side, similarly helped herself more enthusiastically than him. More than tea, she was interested in the pastries offered.
Then, after the servants sent by the theatre manager disappeared, the lights in the hall dimmed, and the curtains rolled open. It appeared that the show was starting.
A story unfolded as the performers did their best to ensnare the attention of the audience. Voices rising and falling, movements fluid, emotions raw from the first line spoken, the atmosphere inside the theatre shifted.
There was dancing, singing, and even battles; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the performance managed to completely capture the scene.
And in the middle of it all was Eleanor. She commanded the stage effortlessly, her presence magnetic, her performance layered with pain, longing, and quiet strength. For that duration, all whispers ceased.
.
.
Time slipped away unnoticed.
When the final scene ended and the curtains fell, a stunned silence settled down before everyone stood up from their seats in thunderous applause. Every seat, every corner, there was no one here who wasn’t moved by the play.
The same could be said for Reinhardt and Melissa, who were sitting in the VIP lounge. The former slowly exhaled, his eyes wide in surprise. Given the level of the performance, it was natural for the people of this world to be stunned.
However, he who was from modern day Earth, was also moved by the performance spoke volumes about Eleanor’s ability.
It was not just her; her crew too were splendid and knew how to bring out her strength.
"She really is outstanding, isn’t she?" Beside him, Melissa realised she had been gripping the armrest far too tightly and laughed under her breath, eyes still fixed on the stage. For a long moment, she could not shift her eyes off her friend.
She had been friends with Eleanor for a long time, and both had grown into adults together. Which is why she knew more than anyone how much the latter loved the craft. Yet when she saw her friend after so many years, her state was so bad that Melissa felt her heart break.
It was a miracle that she was able to move past her trauma and stand in front of an audience and cameras once again.
"Thank you."
Reinhardt glanced at Melissa. "Why are you thanking me?"
"It’s because of you that I can see my friend smiling brightly and excited like that again."
He observed Eleanor standing at the stage. Indeed, at this moment, at this time, she was absolutely stunning. Her excited smile, slightly exhausted yet flushed face spoke of how much she loved acting. She was a person who belonged there.
"You don’t need to thank me. She was already a highly talented person. I simply aided her for my own profit." At first, before he even knew the person named Eleanor, that was his mindset. However, now the same couldn’t be said anymore.
"I want her to never stop acting again," Reinhardt admitted.
In fact, he was not the only one who had such thoughts. Everyone who came here, whether they be the citizens of the city or reporters from faraway lands, witnessed the rise of a star today. He was sure that after today, the news of her coming back to the industry would spread like wildfire all over the kingdom.
.
Once the show concluded and the crowd slowly dispersed, Reinhardt and Melissa waited near the side entrance reserved for certain guests and performers. Even though it was early winter and one could see their breath turn into steam, thanks to the dazzling show, a mystical kind of warmth had enveloped the entire place, dispersing the cold.
It didn’t take long before Eleanor emerged. After thanking her crew for their work, she walked towards them.
Now that it was just the three of them, the confident aura she had clad herself in, the command she had on stage, softened into something more human-like. Relief, exhaustion, and a faint glow of triumph... all kinds of expressions bloomed on her face.
