Chapter 579- Meeting Leona Once Again
Chapter 579: Chapter 579- Meeting Leona Once Again
Everyone accepted it without hesitation.
In the upcoming days, Jerrel’s efficiency became evident.
He sent royal messengers in all directions, carrying sealed decrees bearing the crest of Rune summoning the leaders of the Seven Kingdoms to convene a Seven Kingdoms Summit.
The gears of geopolitics began turning.
Reinhardt did not wait idly either. The following days became a nightmare for his knights.
From dawn until midnight, he dragged them through relentless training sessions, combat drills, lethal sparring, and skill learning.
His training was so hellish that even the knights and people of Rune came to fear him.
Unbeknownst to him, Reinhardt gained a new title in Rune: the Instructor of Hell.
By nightfall, bodies littered the hall and various rooms of the mansion.
.
Late that night, Reinhardt sat in front of his desk inside his room. A single candle burned on the desk, and the quill held between his fingers swiftly moved through the paper.
In that note, he detailed everything.
His journey to the Kingdom of Rune. Finding Lirae and her connection to Cecilia. Giacomo’s involvement and the High Elf’s disappearance.
He jotted down everything he learned so far. His handwriting and attention to detail were impeccable, yet beneath that elegance was urgency.
What was Reinhardt doing? He was, of course, writing a letter. A letter to Her Majesty.
Once he sealed the letter with the crest of the Temple of Light, he summoned a Light Eagle, fastened the letter to its leg, and sent it away.
Once the eagle disappeared into the moonlit clouds, towards the direction of Solaris, only then did Reinhardt lean back in his chair.
"Of all places, to think she ended up in Lunaris."
He sighed, feeling an increased surge of urgency.
If fate could truly be cruel, then Cecilia had been thrown into the worst abyss imaginable.
Lunaris, for those unaware or coming to the place for the first time, the kingdom bathed in moonlight, with its various places of entertainment, might seem like a holiday haven.
However, that was all a deception. It was a land that cloaked cruelty beneath elegance. They were staunch believers in slavery, a doctrine that was ingrained in everyone who was born there.
Exploiting others to benefit oneself was a common practice there. The rich grew obscenely wealthy by draining the lifeblood of others. It was a land where material things were everything.
The thing about the Kingdom of Lunaris was that you would never find slums or poor people there. Not because there were no poor people in Lunaris, but because all of them had been extorted dry of their resources and had been relegated to the status of slaves.
And there was only one place for slaves in Lunaris.
The Hollow Earth.
Little was known about the place as the inner circle of Lunaris guarded this secret strictly. However, even with what little is known, the place was nothing more than a nightmare.
The Hollow Earth, just as its name suggests, was a massive subterranean space beneath Lunaris, a sprawling underground empire built entirely to imprison slaves.
It was like an eternal abyss with no sky, sun, or stars. The concept of time lost all meaning there, and only the constant echoing smite of hammers told about the passing of time.
In this place that was filled with suffocating darkness and the stench of despair, only labor was valued.
Slaves toiled until their bodies collapsed, then were replaced without ceremony. No rest, no freedom, and no death. Only endless labor.
In Lunaris, death was mercy, and if you were sent to Hollow Earth, there was no such salvation. Just unending torment.
If Cecilia truly had been taken there, then she was in extreme danger.
Reinhardt quietly tightened his fists, thinking over all of his options.
.
The letter reached the Queen of Solaris within hours. She understood the gravity of the matter from the details he wrote and quickly got to work.
Royal missives bearing the Solar Crest were dispatched to all kingdoms. Diplomats staying in other countries were woken up in the middle of the night to proceed with the orders.
The Queen pulled every political lever Solaris possessed to aid Reinhardt.
Knowing the importance he placed on this mission, she didn’t hesitate to use even behind the scenes methods.
Military deterrence, economic chokeholds, and unpaid favors... she dug up every leverage she could find to force the kingdoms to the table.
Though Solaris was doing all the heavy lifting, it didn’t mean that Jerrel was staying idle. He moved just as swiftly.
To repay his debts to Reinhardt, Jerrel sent his envoys, who rode day and night to reach the other smaller nations to deliver his message.
With Solaris moving on behalf of the Seven Kingdoms and Rune representing the smaller nations, a decision was finally reached.
The Seven Kingdoms agreed, and the summit would convene. The location would be Windbloom, capital of the neutral nation Aeralis, five days from now.
Jerrel sent an official to deliver the message to Reinhardt, who stood quietly in the courtyard, gazing at the school of fish in the pond.
Five days, while it was not short, the same couldn’t be said for Cecilia, whose fate was hanging by a thread.
However, Reinhardt knew that this was the fastest the process could go. Usually, a Seven Kingdoms Summit took weeks or even months to assemble. Convincing the monarchs who were burdened by the politics of their kingdom wasn’t an easy thing.
Yet the process could be sped up to just five days was due to the Queen who possessed enough influence, leverage, and sheer political weight to compel the Seven Kingdoms.
Be that as it may, it couldn’t have been easy.
He could tell that she paid a heavy price for it, but she still did it anyway, all for him.
A warmth surged inside Reinhardt as he thought about the woman who was connected to him through a complex bond.
Thanks to her aid, he didn’t need to resort to any extreme actions. Now, all he had to do was wait and hope that things went according to plan.
.
.
At dawn the next day, the order of the Temple of Light was all ready to set out.
Members donned in their armor, riding horses in a disciplined formation, was a sight to behold.
Reinhardt stood at the forefront, his presence overwhelming like the sun.
Beside him was Jerrel and his entourage, knights of the Order of the Emerald traveling with him.
As King of Rune, Jerrel’s attendance was unquestionable. But Reinhardt was different. He was just a Knight Commander.
Yet the fact that he was heading for Windbloom meant that he was leveraging his friendship with Jerrel to give him the status of special delegation to bypass some protocols.
Officially, Reinhardt was present as Rune’s honored ally.
The journey was swift.
With two knight orders escorting the convoy, the parade was a spectacle of sheer force.
Monsters ran at the very sight of them, and bandits steered clear of their way.
Thus, on the third day, they reached Windbloom.
A beautiful place with towering windmills and serene breeze hitting the land from all sides. The land had a kind of countryside, relaxing vibe to it.
"So this is Windbloom."
"It’s quite a good place to lay off and relax."
Members of the Temple of Light and Order of the Emerald conversed as they slowly marched towards the city gate.
The city was abuzz with unprecedented activity.
Delegations from across the continent had already arrived, and fancy carriages could be seen lining up near the city gates and heading into the city.
After passing through the outer gates, Reinhardt and Jerrel parted ways.
The first thing he did after entering the city was to secure accommodation for his knight order.
While relying on Jerrel was fine, he couldn’t be overly dependent on him.
On the way, he also collected as much information as he could.
"It seems almost all of the nations invited have arrived. Out of the Seven Kingdoms, only Aetherion and Lunaris have yet to arrive."
Reinhardt muttered to himself while reading the newspaper at the inn’s lobby.
Once his knights were settled, he left the inn and headed for the accommodation housing the delegation of Solaris.
As one of the Seven Great Kingdoms, the mansion that the delegation of Solaris was staying in was no ordinary one.
It was grand, had a large compound, and was elegant in architecture, symbolizing the strength and status of Solaris.
As Reinhardt drew closer, his eyes caught the familiar insignia etched upon the knights’ armor.
A crescent moon half veiled by flowing mist, encircled by scattered stars. There was no doubt, the insignia belonged to that one knight order.
An all female knight order renowned for their vigilance, discipline, and most famously their merciless training regimens.
The knight order assigned to guard the King and Queen of Solaris was none other than the Knights of Lunar Veil, one of the Seven Great Knight Orders of Solaris.
