Chapter 580- Summit
Chapter 580: Chapter 580- Summit
"Heh." Seeing this scene, Reinhardt’s lips curved upward, and a wicked idea bloomed in his head.
"Let’s see how sharp you still are."
Without warning, he who was walking leisurely suddenly burst into a sprint.
BANG...
The ground beneath Reinhardt’s feet exploded as he rushed forward, his body cutting through the air like a divine spear.
His speed was so fast that a sonic boom detonated behind him, followed by a roaring tunnel of compressed wind.
Feeling a violent storm-like presence approaching, the knights guarding the mansion gate went into full alert.
"Intruder!"
"Stop! This is the residence of."
Upon spotting the intruder, they hurriedly issued warnings. However, they were a step too late.
Reinhardt accelerated again, and the very air screamed around him. He easily passed through the guards around the gate.
The other Lunar Veil knights reacted instantly. Three swords cut across intersecting angles, sealing off his path with textbook-perfect timing.
What fun! Reinhardt laughed.
He stepped between the blades, dodging each of them through a hair’s breadth, and then jumped over the formation, landing behind them without even slowing down.
Another squad intercepted him. This time with shields. Mana weaved together to form a barrier.
Planning to hold me down here, huh. Although an excellent strategy, one needed to see who they were up against.
Reinhardt planted one foot and ran straight up the barrier.
The knights stared in disbelief as he sprinted vertically, flipped over their heads, and crashed down inside the inner courtyard with a thunderous landing.
"Don’t let him through!"
The knights of Lunar Veil pursued him like angry hornets.
Their formation was ruthless and tight. Nevertheless, he always managed to find the smallest of gaps and slipped through them.
Now he was already closer to the main building.
Just then.
CLANG...
A sword strike descended from above, moving at blitzing speed.
The trajectory of the sword strike flawless, and it was wrapped in a shimmering razor-sharp glow of moonlight.
Reinhardt reacted instinctively, raising his own sword. Fierce sparks generated as the two swords clashed.
The shockwaves exploded outwards, tearing the courtyard stone apart. The impact also forced Reinhardt to stop his advance.
The figure landed in front of him, eyes cold and demeanor sharp.
"It’s been a while. How have you been, Reinhardt?"
She wished she could say that. Instead, what came out of her mouth were words wrapped in icy coldness.
"What do you think you’re playing at, Reinhardt?"
Who could the woman who instantly switched to her icy queen mode be other than Leona? Commander of the Knights of Lunar Veil.
Underneath all that steel, Leona was a beautiful woman with a tall, athletic figure with black hair bound in a high tail. Her commanding presence and discipline further solidified her Class- Dawn Valkyrie.
Bathed in moonlight that formed a semi-ethereal cloak around her, she stood there like a force of nature.
Reinhardt?!
When the knights of Lunar Veil heard their commander’s words, all of them opened their eyes wide in shock.
The intruder was the Commander of Temple of Light, one of the Three Heroes?
With his cover blown, Reinhardt removed the hood covering him and grinned at the woman in front of him.
"Well, I was worried Solaris’ defenses might’ve gone soft."
Leona’s brow twitched. "You ran full speed into a royal residence. Is this your way of playing a prank?"
"Uh."
"You caused structural damage and scared half my squad into thinking we were under assault."
"Ah. Sorry about that." Reinhardt didn’t know what to say.
"Reinhardt."
"Yes?"
"You’re lucky Her Majesty specifically instructed us not to kill on sight."
Hahaha, still terrifying as ever. Reinhardt laughed inwardly.
Given his looks and divine body, he was simply the perfection of handsomeness. Yet even such an appearance could not cause any fluctuation in the Icy Queen in front of him.
She was still as indifferent and distant to him as ever.
While Leona’s words caused him to think that she was cold to him, reality was anything but that.
Ever since she opened her mouth to converse with Reinhardt, Leona had no control over her choice of words. Everything she wanted to say became wrapped in something else.
It was as if in front of this man, she just couldn’t act like herself.
Inwardly, she was despairing.
Her closest knight who knew about her personality quickly interjected before the misunderstanding deepened.
"Commander Reinhardt, what are you doing here?"
"Hm? Ah, I came here because I have some business with Her Majesty."
His mission of finding the High Elf was only known to selected few individuals. Therefore, him showing up here in Windbloom was quite surprising for the Knights of Lunar Veil.
"I see, in that case, let us lead you inside."
The knight spoke, sneakily giving a thumbs up gesture to her commander. Leona immediately understood what her adjutants were scheming and blushed inwardly.
That’s right, in front of Reinhardt, her body could not even blush naturally.
"Ahem, follow me." Leona cleared her throat and led the way.
"Still, I am relieved."
The knights of Lunar Veil turned their heads towards him as if asking what he meant.
"I am relieved that it’s your knight order who is guarding Her Majesty."
As one of the Seven Great Knight Orders, the strength of these knights was without a doubt.
But that was not their only strong factor. Their discipline and devotion to rules and safety made them one of the best knight orders for such kind of escort missions.
They may be knights, but they were still women, and their kind loved praise. As a result, quite a few knights of Lunar Veil became smitten with Reinhardt.
Leona was an exception, of course, outwardly. Even after hearing such praise, she did not react at all.
Before long, they stood in front of the master room.
"Your Majesty, Commander Reinhardt seeks an audience."
Leona knocked on the door and announced.
"Let him in." A voice sounded out from inside.
With that, the two of them headed in.
As for the knights of Lunar Veil, they guarded the place.
.
Inside the spacious room, the Queen of Solaris sat on the couch facing them.
A maid stood by her side, attending to her toenails.
With caramel toned skin that glowed softly beneath the light, long crimson hair that cascaded behind her back, she was the very vision of vitality and surrealness.
Her long, smooth legs and ample curves, which were accentuated by her choice of clothes, gave her a regal and alluring aura.
Even by simply lounging on the couch, her presence exuded a sultry, magnetic aura that made the air itself seem heavier.
Thankfully, the Queen hid away her face, or else the level of sensuality her body exuded would be even more lethal.
"I’m glad to see my knight is well."
The Queen smiled and gestured for them to sit.
Leona stiffened for half a heartbeat, clearly startled by such informal treatment, but Reinhardt simply moved forward without hesitation, taking the seat opposite her unceremoniously.
In any case, he was already quite intimate with the Queen.
This level of informalness was nothing to him.
Sitting down, his eyes met with the Queen, and in that brief moment, an unspoken understanding passed between them, a longing restrained by duty.
Reinhardt quickly composed himself and thanked.
"Thank you, Your Majesty, for indulging my selfish request."
The Queen waved her hand.
"If my knight is burdened, then it is my duty as Queen to support him."
She did not know what, but their exchange carried an ease that made Leona quietly inhale in surprise.
It was the first time she truly sensed how deep their bond ran.
Were the Queen and Reinhardt always this close?
Though before she could ponder about it, the atmosphere turned solemn.
"Reinhardt, what you wrote, is it truly confirmed? Has Lunaris abducted the High Elf?" Although she already read his letter, she wanted to confirm it from his mouth.
As expected, Reinhardt nodded. "The Kingdom of Rune has already uncovered sealed records, witness testimonies, and correspondence. All threads point to Lunaris. There is no doubt about it."
"So it has come to this, huh."
The Queen exhaled, lamenting on the workings of fate.
"Our relationship with Lunaris has never been amicable. There is... bitter history between us. This revelation will not be taken lightly."
Their relationship deteriorated further when Solaris, a member of the Seven Great Kingdoms, abolished slavery and granted demi human citizen status.
From then on, the two kingdoms never saw eye to eye.
Now with Rune and Aetherion following suit of abolishing slavery, with Rune even pressing charges for mass abductions and other underhanded actions, they were bound to earn Lunaris’ ire.
That said, Solaris was not afraid. The only thing that concerned the Queen was the alliance of the seven kingdoms. If that delicate balance was broken, then there would be nothing stopping the demons.
It was also for this reason that she acted fast. Although her relationship with Reinhardt was part of the reason, a major part of her worry was that any extreme moves might end up destroying the alliance.
