Chapter 624- Just Another Day In The Life Of The Extras
Now the newly appointed Viscount of Snowpoint City, Reinhardt’s responsibilities did not lessen. In fact, they increased even more.
After finishing signing and reviewing several documents, he ordered a servant to call for Bob and some other High Ranking Knights.
Before long, they arrived at his office.
With a knock, Bob and the others entered. Reinhardt explained the situation.
"The lair of the Earth Tycoon that Silvia and Vangeance discovered... contains extremely valuable minerals. Especially Orichalcum."
He placed the map that Silvia had given him and tapped on one of the locations marked with an X.
When Reinhardt mentioned Orichalcum, the knights’ expressions turned serious. That ore was priceless.
Weapons and armor made with it could drastically strengthen them.
Reinhardt handed the map to Bob.
"Take a convoy and recover every piece of ore you can find from here."
Bob nodded. "It will be done, Commander."
Soon afterward, the knights left to prepare for the expedition.
On his way out, Bob ran into his wife Anastasia, who was carrying a tray of food and heading for the commander’s office.
"Heading somewhere?" Seeing Bob appear out of Reinhardt’s office, she asked.
"That’s right," he replied. "The Commander gave me a mission. I’ll be leaving the city for a while."
He looked at his beautiful wife and added, "Take care of yourself and the Commander while I’m gone."
Anastasia’s lips curved, and she gave him a confident smile.
"Don’t worry, darling. I’ll make sure Lord Reinhardt’s every need is taken care of."
Bob chuckled and nodded. He did not notice the double meaning in his wife’s words.
The expedition departed from Snowpoint City before noon.
At the front of the convoy rode Bob, clad in polished armor with the crest of the Order of the Temple of Light emblazoned on his chest.
Behind him marched a small unit of elite knights escorting several wagons meant to carry back the precious ores.
The journey to the Earth Tycoon’s lair, marked on the map, proved far from easy. The path was filled with treacherous cliffs and jungles thick enough to block the sunlight.
The deeper they went, the more dangerous the wilderness became.
Had it been a normal convoy of merchants or adventurers, the journey would have been impossible.
However, for trained knights of the Temple of Light, who were used to fighting demons, it was little more than a chance to stretch their bodies.
"Contact!"
At that moment, a roar echoed through the forest, and a massive Basilisk crashed through the trees.
It was not alone, two more appeared from the sides in a pincer formation.
"Basilisk, it’s been a while since I fought one." Bob drew his sword in a smooth motion.
Marcus and Grey followed suit.
"Leave the Basilisk to us. You all look out for other monsters."
While giving that order, the three Holy Knights charged forward.
As A+‑rank monsters, the Basilisks were undoubtedly powerful. However, against the three Holy Knights, they were little more than sitting ducks.
Before long, the enemies were defeated, and the convoy moved on.
"Dammit, your progress on [Radiant Ascension] is still higher than mine." Riding beside Bob, Marcus complained. Earlier, he had been five full seconds slower than Bob in defeating his enemy.
"I told you all everything that I know. It’s your own fault for neglecting your training," Bob replied matter of factly.
"Relax, at least we’re not fighting demons. There’s no reason for you all to be so competitive."
Marcus clicked his tongue. As friends and comrades who had become knights of the Temple of Light and even Holy Knights at the same time, it bothered him that his progress lagged behind Bob’s.
"You even made some progress in [Divine Beast Summoning]. If you train that much, you’ll upset Anastasia," he added.
"What do you mean?" Grey grinned and explained. "He’s saying that as a married man, you shouldn’t just give all your focus to training and should spare some of it for your wife too. That way your married life won’t have any problems."
Bob blinked and looked at his two friends, shaking his head.
"You say that, but don’t think I don’t know. You two have stopped visiting the bar and have been focused on training for a while now. As if you two have the right to tell me."
"Oh, right. By the way, Bob, I heard Anastasia leveled up?" Marcus asked.
"She did," Bob nodded. "She’s close to reaching Level 3 now."
Grey raised an eyebrow. "Really? Are you helping her level up then?"
"No. Anastasia is far too busy for that. As the head maid of the Viscount of Snowpoint City, she has a mountain of work. Some nights she doesn’t even come home. She sleeps in the manor because of all her duties."
"That sounds rough," Grey said and then grinned mischievously. "So her being that busy... doesn’t get in the way of your married life?"
"Of course not. Ana said that she and I share a bond much stronger than physical intimacy."
Bob spurred his horse ahead, leaving the two Holy Knights scratching their heads behind him.
"...What kind of answer is that?"
"You sound like an old monk!"
Bob simply shook his head. "You two wouldn’t understand."
In truth, Bob himself had never cared much about such things. His sex drive was naturally low, and Anastasia knew that.
Because of it, she never brought up the topic when they were together. Their relationship had always been simple: mutual trust, mutual understanding, and quiet companionship.
For Bob, that was more than enough.
Hours later, they crossed a steep ravine. The road was barely wide enough for the wagons. Loose stones slid down the cliffs with every step.
One wrong move, and a wagon could tumble hundreds of meters into the gorge below.
"Man... I must say it’s amazing how those two managed to trudge through such a treacherous place," Marcus muttered.
"They had no choice," Bob explained. "The trial must have brought them here."
Soon, the path opened into a wide rocky basin. At the center of it stood a massive, collapsed hill. The ground around it was filled with deep tunnels and jagged openings.
Bob unfolded the map given by Reinhardt and compared it to the terrain.
"We’re here."
The lair of the Earth Tycoon lay right in front of them.
Bob glanced at his men, and they nodded in return. Their goal was not to hunt monsters along the way or to chart an unmapped territory, but rather to claim the precious ores that lay somewhere inside those tunnels.
.
The time was early afternoon.
A noble carriage rolled steadily along the paved road leading toward Snowpoint City. Inside sat Marquis Boulevard.
The marquis leaned back against the seat, watching the countryside pass by through the carriage window.
He was on his way to visit his wife, Melissa, who had been working under Reinhardt as his secretary, on the orders of the Queen.
It had been more than half a year since he last saw her.
"Sigh."
Boulevard sighed. Being a central noble wasn’t easy.
Political meetings, administrative duties, negotiations with other nobles, managing his own territory... there were too many annoying things that demanded his attention.
Of course, he had not always been like this. As a noble, he had once been drunk on his power, caring little about his own domain and responsibilities as long as riches flowed into his coffers.
All of that changed after he met Reinhardt and was bathed in that divine light. From that moment on, he turned over a new leaf and began acting more like a noble, like the very man who changed his life, the embodiment of how a noble should be.
Anyway, because of all his duties, he rarely had time to visit his wife.
And besides, another matter had been weighing on his mind: the crusade from a couple of months ago.
In that crusade, it was revealed that Melissa’s father, the Count, had been colluding with demons and had been executed on the spot by the Divine Paladin.
The Marquis lowered his eyes. At the time, he hadn’t even been able to stand beside her, as he needed to clean up his own territory of demons.
Boulevard clenched his fist, thinking about the pain she must have gone through all this time.
Thankfully, she was working under the Divine Paladin, whom he deeply respected.
Viscount Reinhardt Arcknight, the hero of the kingdom, a Level 10 knight whose character and honor were beyond reproach.
Knowing that Melissa was under his protection gave the Marquis some peace of mind.
What he did not know was that his wife had already recovered from her pain long ago. Her heart and her body had both been thoroughly healed by the very man he respected most.
.
Elsewhere in Snowpoint City, a door slammed open and Karlo stumbled into a dimly lit house. Hic.
He reeked of alcohol, and his steps were unstable.
"Delicia?" Karl called out. However, there was no answer. The house was quiet.
