The Alpha's Unwanted Bride

Chapter 678: THE MAN IN THE PORTRAIT

Chapter 678: THE MAN IN THE PORTRAIT

JASMINE’S POV

I left on at the handsome man looking down at me.

He was so handsome and something about his energy drew me to him.

It wasn’t due to the fact that he was smiling, he just seemed like the type of man you would throw yourself in the river for.

He had a perfectly lined jaw that I knew wasn’t exaggerated by the artist.

A glint in his green eyes that he’d mischief.

His beautiful golden hair lay neatly on his head, his perfectly arched brows fashioned his face.

He was such a beautiful man I was stunned.

He looked absolutely nothing like Bale.

And then for a split second it made me wonder why Bale’s painting wasn’t here either.

"O.... Ott." I muttered to him as I tried to reach his arm.

The pains had instantly disappeared.

I didn’t turn away from the handsome man’s painting and kept on trying to tap Otto.

"Mmmhh?" Otto mumbled then I heard a pause and felt him looking too.

"Wow." Otto said.

All I could do was stare at this man.

I became clouded with this overwhelming feeling of déjà vu.

Like I knew him.

The exact same way I had felt once I had gotten into the royal pack.

It clouded my entire emotions.

And then my spirits lifted.

If his portrait was here, then that meant he was still alive.

I turned to Otto with excitement. "Otto.... I think he is alive and here."

My hands were shaking in glee.

"Aren’t you in pains anymore?" He asked me.

I shook my head. "No I can barely feel a thing. I need to see him!"

Finally I was going to be able to meet him.

I was going to know my mother’s family.

That was all that mattered at the moment.

"And then he could interpret the last part of the map." Otto said in an enthusiastic tone.

Everything that I had questioned.

I was finally about to be given an answer.

My hands went to my round tummy and in my heart, I gently told my baby.

"I told you we were going to find a way didn’t I?"

And then I smiled.

"Come." Otto said to me and I noticed his eyes were wavering around.

"What?" I mumbled.

I looked and saw for myself.

Eyes were looking at us and there were whispers.

The people were staring and I could see the questions in their eyes.

They were wondering who we were and why we were looking so much at the paintings.

"Yeah we should go." I said agreeing without even waiting for him to ask.

I took his arm and led him to the path that had been described where the healer was.

We walked down the pack halls.

The air felt different.

"We need to try not to look out of place here." He whispered to me as he led me down.

I nodded in agreement as we went back on our way.

The atmosphere felt entire different here.

It was pulling me in and yet telling me to run the hell back.

Eventually we got to the door of the healer.

I turned to him. "Now what do we do?"

He seemed to think for a while.

"Why don’t we just ask about him?" I asked.

"If we do it might raise suspicions." He said.

I chewed my bottom lip and instantly regretted why I didn’t ask the woman from last night about Aiden.

And then I remembered what she said about the moonlight pack.

She detested them.

And the distant lands was obviously a pack still under the moonlight pack’s control.

I massaged my brow as I thought hard.

Before we could say a word, the door was opened and a smallish woman emerged.

She was perhaps around the age of thirty.

She had on a simple loose shirt and pants.

She had brown hair packed in a ponytail and a single braid.

She looked up at us.

"And how can I help you?" She looked at us from head to toe.

"Oh... uhmmm... we’re looking for the healer." I said.

She glared at me and gave a cold dead stare. "I am the healer, what do you want?"

I stifled.

I turned to Otto for support but he looked smitten.

Looked as though he was in a trance and nothing could bring him back.

I turned back and saw it was the healer he was looking at.

That was the first time I had seen Otto look at anyone in such a way.

She didn’t look particularly pleased at his presence.

Before I could say a word to bring him back to the present, I felt a pain in my tummy.

"Ouch." I cried as I held my tummy.

"Are you okay?" He asked quickly.

I managed to breathe as I held unto his hand for support. "I’m fine. I just need a minute."

The healer looked at me from head to toe and nodded at the room.

"Come in."

And she walked into the room.

I and Otto turned to look at each other before he led me into the room.

The healer’s room was a small room with neatly organized tables of potions.

Everything was in place.

Nothing like how Loren’s place was or even Nanny Nia.

She was well kept.

She sat down on a couch and motioned at me to seat opposite her.

Otto helped me take a seat and then she collected my hand and seemed to feel my pulse.

She closed her eyes and then I saw her fangs come out.

That startled me.

Otto snarled at her.

But the fangs went back in and she looked at me.

"Jasmine." She said and that further scared me.

I quickly drew my hand away.

"How do you know my name." I asked surprised.

She gave me a coy smile.

A smile on her face I never knew would be possible.

"Your father is going to be so happy to finally see you." She told me.
