Chapter 789: YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE RUBY!

“What?” Was all I could mouth even though I barely heard the voice myself.

“Don’t act like you don’t know ” She rolled her eyes maliciously. “Look at you.”

And she waved her hand from my head to my feet.

“Just take a look at yourself. Have you ever seen anyone with red hair?” She asked reasonably. “There are dark-haired people, blondes, brunettes . But you would never see anyone with red hair like you.

I felt weak to the bone.

My knees became all wobbly.

She gave a bitter laugh and I felt my stomach twist in a dreadful knot.

“I’ll tell you this.” She raised a finger at me. “No one has red hair here. You’re a stranger to us. You don’t belong here. Look at yourself!”

And she actually reached out to touch a strand of my hair with her finger tips.

I slapped her hands away, infuriated by her audacity.

“Don’t touch me.” I warned.

Except the way I warned her was in a less confident voice.

It was small and sounded like someone who had been backed to a corner.

“And your parents. No one looks like you. None of them. If you believe that your parents are yours then you must be more delusional than I thought.” Alice informed.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” I shook my hair reluctant to believe what she had to say. “You’re only saying these things just to hurt me. That’s all you’re doing.”

She gave a shrill wicked laugh. “Red bitch I intend to hurt you in so many more cruel ways but this is the least of them. This is the truth.”

“Your parents moved into this pack years ago and brought you along.” She said. “My mother had met your own mother before when they were wolf nomads. And she could swear your mother was barren. Destroyed her womb from killing so many babies. So how you came along is a mystery to everyone.”

“Your parents are too old to have you. You look nothing like them. You don’t belong in this pack either. You were probably born in a brothel and they gave you pity because they were barren.”

She sighed heavily and gave a light shrug, signifying she had come to the end of her terrible tale.

“Well that’s settles it doesn’t it. Like mother like daughter.” She chipped. “You’re the daughter of a harlot. Probably born in a whore house and that’s why you’re a dirty cheap whore.”

I closed my eyes to all the awful words she had to say.

None of it was true.

They were all lies.

Lies she spoke just to get back at me that was all. Nothing more than that.

My parents loved me.

I was theirs.

Regardless of how different I was.

I heard her burst into laughter.

“Such a ridiculous girl.” I heard her say even though I still had my eyes closed from all the terrible things she had said.

“I had known this for awhile now and I kept it secret. But since you believed you could step on my toes then I’ll show you who I am. I’ve told everyone. They all know what you are and very soon you will meet your ghastly end.”

I swallowed.

I wanted to open my eyes and rip her apart.

Stab her in her eyes, sever her from her body.

I clenched my fists by my side.

“Ouuuuuu.” She laughed. “You want to hit me?”

And then I felt her come up against me and push me hard against the wall.

I slammed my back against the hard wall and howled in pain.

The claws of her wolf began digging into my hands as she held me hostage.

I opened my eyes and saw her staring down at me. “You want to hit me don’t you? Do it?!” Do it?!”

I could see her eyes flashing.

Her wolf gaining control.

As an unshifted, I was no match for her wolf.

“I know how jealous you are of me. But to make Aiden send me to come get you for the position I wanted is beneath you.” She said as she spoke over me, looking me over. “You’re lucky that you’re under his protection. I would have done the worst things to you. So bad Aston would seem like an angel.”

I looked at her eyeball to eyeball.

“Do you worst.” Was all I said.

Her face fell instantly and the negative tension hung between us and I could feel it get darker and darker.

Just when I expected her to attack me I heard.

“What the hell is going on here?” Came a male voice.

I looked down and saw it was none other than Levi one of the wolves I had noticed follow Aiden around a lot.

When none of us responded he pulled Alice’s arm and hauled her away from me.

“Attacking other members of the pack within the pack house is not allowed.” He warned. “For someone who has lived in this pack your entire life you should know better.”

Alice said nothing.

She was simply staring at me.

Hatred in those eyes, while I stared back.

Anger.

I was angry with myself for thinking I could even reason with her.

Levi shook his head and nodded at a guard.

When the guard was close enough, Levi pushed her to the guard.

“Take her away from here.” He instructed.

The guard took Alice’s arms and led her away, leaving them standing wondering what the hell had just happened.

“Are you okay?” He asked me as he looked at my palm.

I looked down and saw I had some minor cuts from the penetration of her claw into my skin.

“I’m fine.” Was all I could manage.

“Are you a magnet for trouble?” Levi asked looking genuinely confused after a second.

I took in a very deep breath and held my head

up high.

I said nothing and turned around on my heel before walking to where I was expected.
