The Alpha's Unwanted Bride

Chapter 788: DIRT-STRICKEN RED HEAD

Chapter 788: DIRT-STRICKEN RED HEAD

RUBY’S POV

Later that evening, I was seated in the room examining the blue soil.

It was the only thing I could do.

Mother still hadn’t arrived from treating the other wolves.

I rubbed my arm as I sat simply watching the potted blue soil.

In the past twenty-four hours I had seen hell.

I had been attacked by a mad man in a cave I was forced to visit, everyone had seen Aiden carry me like an imbecile up to my bedroom.

I had eventually been attacked by Aston whom I had seen be ripped apart into pieces by none other than Aiden himself.

We had also ended up having confrontation.

Lest I forgot, my father.

My very own father who had give me life had given me out like I was property to the worst person in this life due to his gambling habits.

If it were actually true that he had done such a thing.

I didn’t know what to think.

I was angry thinking about it.

So that was what I was really worth?

A thousand golden coins.

He would do anything to put his family in jeopardy just to satisfy his own selfish cravings.

I felt the tears build hot in my eyes but I fanned myself just so they didn’t roll down because if one did then they would all flow like a river.

I considered telling mother but she would lose it if she knew that was what he had done.

At least there had to be some sort of explanation at least.

My own father wouldn’t do that to me.

And then I thought of how Aiden had saved me in two occasions.

I thought he hated me.

I did.

But he had gone out of his way to save me.

Or perhaps he just didn’t want people to look at him and say he was the reason I was dead.

After all Aiden had also been one of the reasons why Aston wanted to attack me.

He had believed me had sex.

Sex!

I felt the bile rise in my throat.

I’ll rather die!

Than be found sleeping with Aiden of all people.

He was a selfish bastard who didn’t care about anyone but himself.

I gently set my finger tips to the corner of my eye which was still swollen.

Courtesy of Aston.

I sighed and looked down at blue soil.

There was the fact I had been experiencing delusions.

Strange headaches.

I could still heal people when I touched them.

Except now it didn’t work anymore.

Not on me right now at least.

I remembered what Alice’s mother had said.

How we didn’t belong here.

What did that even mean?

And then the old man who had said I was going to be the end or something.

And then again the old woman I had met in the forest with Aiden.

I was overstimulated.

Definitely too overstimulated.

It felt as though so much was crashing over me like a cold bucket of water.

I had questions that needed answers.

Mother wouldn’t give me one.

I gently fingered my emerald necklace as I placed my head against the window sill and looked through the window at the pack grounds.

It was a beautiful pack.

I had no idea when my eyes weakly dropped and I slept off.

I heard the door barge open and I saw none other than Alice.

I jumped alert, quickly wiping off the drool from the corner of my lips.

“Alice?” I said shocked.

Had she come here to kill me.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Everyone had been gutting it for me today.

She ignored me and snapped. “You’re late for your duties as handmaid. Don’t ever let me come get you again.”

Huh?

I looked around and saw it was already dark.

I had slept off.

“My duties?” I asked lost.

She stopped and turned back to face me. “Of course your duties. Being Aiden’s whore. Isn’t that what you wanted?”

I knew Alice was right but she had no right making such awful statements about me.

“I’m not a whore.” I countered.

She furrowed her brows and folded her arms. “Classic Ruby. Always creating the scene but staying back as the director. You’re always innocent.”

She gave a bitter laugh. “I don’t have time for this. Get your fucking ass up and go do your fucking duties.”

And with that she stormed off.

I sighed heavily.

I couldn’t just let her go that way.

This was my chance to finally speak to her and set the record straight.

At least save our friendship or whatever was left of it.

I ran after her and followed her up the stairs.

She was marching off really fast so I had to quicken my pace.

When I was finally within reach of her I began.

“Alice I know you hate me. I know you do.” I began. “But I swear I had nothing to do with becoming Aiden’s whatever.”

She ignored me and turned around a sharp corner.

A bunch of servant she-wolves hissed at me.

I ignored them. “You’re my one true friend. I’ll never do anything to jeopardize our relationship. Look I’ll do anything to take back what has happened.”

I heard her scoff.

I caught up to her and held her arm.

“Alice you have to believe me please.” I pleaded.

She gave me a dirty slap so hard I tasted blood.

I was really getting it from everyone today.

“Don’t fucking touching me you slut!” She spat venom at me.

The aura she radiated was so negative I shivered.

“I shared things with you I have never shared with anyone and yet you did this.” She eyed me up and down pathetically. “You’re more miserable than I thought.”

“Everyone says your family is bad luck. They warned us that from the day you came into this pack you were cursed. You and your red hair. Wherever dirt-stricken parents picked you up from.” She spat.
