The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 212: Do They Like Me?

Chapter 212: Do They Like Me?

Jiang Ning found some medicine, mixed it with water, and gave it to Doudou.

She wasn’t good at comforting people, “Doudou is so strong, she won’t leave you.”

Huo Yishen didn’t say anything. He sat quietly beside his sister, gently stroking her cheek, “It’s all my fault, I didn’t protect you well.”

Jiang Ning sighed softly in her heart. He had done enough already.

Who could have guessed that hail would suddenly fall from ten thousand meters high, and as big as fists at that?

In her previous life, there had been no hail.

He is human, not a god; there’s no need for such self-blame.

In the midst of natural disaster, who can truly protect whom?

“Doudou, wake up, your brother only has you.”

Feeling Huo Yishen’s sorrow, Jiang Ning gently placed her hand on his shoulder, “You still have me, we’ll all be fine.”

Every half an hour, she checked on Doudou once. Huo Yishen stayed by her side the whole time, not leaving for a moment.

At noon, Jiang Ning brought some soup, but he had no appetite to drink it.

The brain is too complex for Jiang Ning to do anything; she could only observe external symptoms. The situation seemed stable.

Around three or four in the afternoon, Doudou groggily opened her eyes, “Brother?”

Huo Yishen was overjoyed, “Anning, Doudou is awake.”

Jiang Ning quickly came over, “Doudou, how do you feel?”

Doudou blinked, staring blankly at the people in front of her, even reaching out to touch them, “Brother?”

Then she retched, and she felt like the world was spinning around her.

Jiang Ning noticed that Doudou’s expression was somewhat dull, her vision blurry, and she was tired and sleepy. But after a few simple questions, she was still conscious.

It could be confirmed that she had a relatively severe concussion, but they couldn’t be careless and needed to continue observing.

They managed to feed her half a bowl of chicken soup, but she soon fell asleep again.

When she woke up again, it was already midnight. Doudou was in much better condition and ate a small half-bowl.

She couldn’t sit up; sitting made her dizzy and nauseous.

After giving her some medicine, she fell into a deep sleep again.

Huo Yishen breathed a little easier, “Shall we go back?”

It was night now, making it less likely to be noticed. Jiang Ning took him and Doudou out of the space.

The Hummer was at Aoyuan. They chose an off-road vehicle from the Qinggang base.

Huo Yishen droves slowly and carefully, while Jiang Ning sat in the back to take care of Doudou.

At Aoyuan, there were also people on duty at night. Yang Weimin happened to be there and came out of the security room, “Is Doudou alright?”

“She’s okay for now, but she needs to rest,” Jiang Ning lowered the car window, “How about you guys?”

“We have a few injuries as well, but nothing serious. We also received the food and fresh water. I told the neighborhood committee about your special situation, and they registered it, saying you can collect your share after the Mid-Autumn Festival.”

Jiang Ning learned that there’s a neighborhood committee, to prevent chaos on site. They had implemented strict stability measures. Food and water were locked in a storeroom with three iron doors, and the distribution window didn’t store much material, but they replenished it every half hour.

Not many of the resources had been looted. Once the situation stabilized, the benefits would be distributed as usual.

After the hail stopped, He Tianming had organized all the residents of the community to collect hail.

Due to the large area, they collected quite a bit of hail. Yang Weimin brought out a full bucket of water, “This is what Captain He saved for you.”

Jiang Ning thanked him, “Just leave it here. We’ll come to get it tomorrow.”

Back at Building 5, Room 401, as soon as they opened the door, the dog rushed over excitedly and eagerly.

Jiang Ning softly said, “Don’t disturb Doudou.”

She turned on the air conditioner and laid Doudou on the bed.

The dog, anxious, whimpered non-stop at the bedside. What happened to little Doudou?

“Doudou is injured. From today onwards, you’re responsible for taking care of her. If anything happens, call us immediately.”

The dog quickly dragged its bed into the room and stayed close, never leaving her side.

Doudou’s injury was still being observed, and Huo Yishen’s nerves were tense. He ate something casually to fill his stomach, “Anning, how are your injuries?”

“It’s okay, nothing broken.” It was probably soft tissue damage. After applying ice, it felt much better. Tomorrow, she’ll use medicinal wine and plaster to soothe it.

Huo Yishen was worried, “Let me see.”

They slept together, so Jiang Ning didn’t fuss and simply opened the clothes on her shoulder.

“There’s nothing to worry about. We should be grateful we’ve survived another trial.”

Tsunamis, hailstorms… what unknown challenges lay ahead?

It was late at night. The tired couple took a shower and set the air conditioner and fell asleep quickly.

Huo Yishen woke up early, the first thing he did was to check on Doudou in her room.

The little one was sleeping soundly and breathing evenly.

It had been over 24 hours. Even if there was a hemorrhage or fluid accumulation in the brain, it shouldn’t be too serious.

He couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. He gently stroked her head.

The vinegar dog approached and was seeking affection.

When Doudou woke up, her blurry vision had improved. She got up to use the bathroom, then sat on the sofa, lost in thought, “Sister, I think I had a dream yesterday. The sofa wasn’t like this.”

Jiang Ning asked, “What was it like?”

Doudou couldn’t quite describe it; her memories were fuzzy.

Thinking too much made her head hurt badly.

That’s how concussions were; some memories could be fuzzy or even confusing. Jiang Ning took the opportunity to educate her, “Don’t think too much. We’ve survived a great danger, and Doudou will have good fortune in the future.”

The dog jumped onto the sofa, cuddling quietly with Doudou, gently nuzzling it with its head.

Doudou hugged it, feeling much better, “Sister, Mom and Dad took me to the seaside. I played until dark and didn’t want to come back. I think I heard you and brother calling me, then Mom and Dad sent me back.”

Jiang Ning thought for a moment, “What did Mom and Dad say to you?”

“I… I forgot.” Doudou was a bit confused but then cheered up, “I also told Mom and Dad about you, saying how great you are and how you’ve always been taking care of me.”

“Do they like me?”

“They do. They even said Brother has a good eye.”

Jiang Ning felt a bit embarrassed by that statement.

Doudou ate something, but soon vomited again.

Jiang Ning fed her some medicine and gave her a doll to comfort her, and she soon fell asleep again.

Huo Yishen called Ning Jiang into the bedroom, “Let me help you apply the medicine, and I’ll give you a massage?”

After repeated ice packs and a day of taking anti-inflammatory drugs, her shoulder felt much better.

Jiang Ning took out the medicinal wine and let Huo Yishen massage her.

“Anning, do you remember when you applied the medicine during the extreme cold?”

Jiang Ning chuckled, “Who would’ve thought that the situation had changed.”

Huo Yishen felt guilty, blaming himself, “It’s my fault for not protecting you.”

“It’s not your fault. It’s a natural disaster. We’re lucky to be alive.”

At least this time, they had each other. They also have medicine for injuries and wouldn’t go hungry. Compared to most survivors, they were already very fortunate.

After applying the medicine, Jiang Ning sat on the sofa reading while Huo Yishen washed the dishes and did the housework.

Outside, the sun was shining brightly, seemingly unaffected by yesterday’s hail, as if it were just a mirage.

Except for those injured or deceased, almost all survivors were beneficiaries. The hail had given them hope to continue to hold on.
