The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 230: New Troubles

Chapter 230: New Troubles

Scolding aside, nobody dared to continue charging forward, afraid of suddenly being targeted by the burning torches thrown at them.

The crowd quickly dispersed, keeping a safe distance from Building 5.

The leader made a decisive move, turning to besiege other buildings instead.

Buildings 1-3 were occupied by people, many of whom were armed and standing nervously on the large terrace, keeping a close eye on Building 5.

They had binoculars and had just heard the rioters loudly mentioning gasoline.

Seeing them retreat from Building 5, it was clear they had been sprayed with gasoline.

Unexpectedly, Huo Yishen and Jiang Ning were so formidable, they actually had gasoline stored and, with a little effort. They managed to force the rioters back.

He Tianming reacted quickly, “Quick, light the torches.”

Some of the villagers with firewood swiftly made several torches and lit them.

Buildings 1-3, one after another, were illuminated by torchlight.

The rioters were all drenched, ready to ignite upon contact with fire, and once ignited, the flames spread rapidly.

He Tianming directed through the walkie-talkie, “Don’t be afraid, as long as they dare to ram the buildings, we’ll throw torches at them.”

The rioters were also people, many of whom had joined in recent days out of desperation for survival, thinking that following them would bring them food and drink, only to find out that they couldn’t even capture Building 5, which was only occupied by one household.

In the distance, sharp sirens suddenly rang out.

It was the police!

In the darkness, not only were police cars moving, but also… trucks, several of them in a row, heading rapidly towards Aoyuan.

No, not trucks, military vehicles!

Oh no, the military is here.

The haphazardly recruited rioters panicked, quietly retreating and then turning and fleeing.

Once the first one fled, others followed suit!

Soon, half of them had fled.

Some returned to the resettlement camp and pretended as if nothing had happened.

Some, in their panic, fled blindly in the dark. But with all the staff dead, where could they run back to? Wasn’t that seeking death?

With the group dispersed, it was hard to control them.

The leaders were furious, watching the approaching police cars and military forces, realizing they had to reluctantly give up the almost within reach Aoyuan.

Damn it, they thought it would be easy to capture Aoyuan with just over a hundred people, but… they lost both men and prestige.

Run!!!

But where could they run to?

In the darkness, gunfire erupted from all directions, echoing like New Year’s Eve.

Though late, it had arrived.

Jiang Ning put things away.

Huo Yishen took the walkie-talkie to find He Tianming, expressing indirectly that he didn’t want to stand out and just wanted to live a peaceful life.

He Tianming understood, “Okay, I’ll handle what happened tonight.”

The gunshots rang out intermittently, sometimes far and sometimes near, all night long.

It wasn’t until dawn that it completely quieted down.

Jiang Ning, indifferent to what was happening outside the window, turned off the lights and slept soundly, waking up past seven.

The bodies downstairs were gone long ago. He Tianming accompanied Chief Ling through the community, circled around Building 5.

The two talked for a few minutes before He Tianming returned to Aoyuan, while Chief Ling went back to the side where the rioters broke through the isolation zone, heading back to the resettlement camp.

Two of the staff who stayed behind last night and the security patrolmen died, and the remaining eight were tied up.

The potential risks at the resettlement camp had been anticipated by the authorities long ago, but they couldn’t abandon countless disaster victims just because of the risks.

The vast majority of refugees complied with the arrangements, but there were always some troublemakers, inciting and tempting the victims, turning many into demons themselves.

Regardless, conflicts were inevitable, but once lives were lost, the nature of the situation changed.

There was nothing more to say; there would be no tolerance for what needed to be dealt with, especially in such special times, where stringent measures were necessary.

The police and military stayed up all night, not only capturing all the fleeing rioters but also conducting thorough interrogations.

After a night of intense fighting, more than 30 people who led the riot were identified. After interrogation, they were taken outside the resettlement camp and publicly executed.

It was like cracking peanuts, handling them was easy.

These were just the leaders of the riot; none of the others who participated thought about running away.

They had been sprayed with gasoline; taking off their clothes was futile as it was on their skin and hair, and without water pressure, the evidence couldn’t be eradicated.

In total, over 300 were apprehended, all of them transported away in trucks.

The coal mines were already full, so they were sent to do other dangerous labor.

The resettlement camp in Aoyuan was chaotic, and many other places also faced problems.

Chief Ling was overwhelmed, having gone two days without sleep, and the turmoil from the previous day hadn’t been resolved yet.

Since the situation in Aoyuan had calmed down, he didn’t have time to investigate further. He handed it over to the military and left, rushing to deal with other pressing matters.

The military left a team behind, while the rest were dispatched to other resettlement points and to maintain stability in Fengcheng.

After Chief Ling left, He Tianming contacted Huo Yishen via the walkie-talkie and briefed him on the situation.

He mentioned that the gasoline had been hoarded by Aoyuan residents when they went out for supplies earlier. Sensing something was amiss at the resettlement camp, despite multiple reports from the community, they received no timely response. Consequently, they had to organize the residents to fight back in defense.

Thinking ahead, they didn’t expect the worst-case scenario to actually happen.

Chief Ling is indeed an old policeman with a pair of sharp eyes.

But He Tianming was no pushover; his responses were concise and reasonable.

After understanding the situation in Aoyuan, Chief Ling admired He Tianming. It had been over two years since the apocalypse, yet he managed to maintain a positive attitude and foster a united community, which was extremely rare.

If there were more people like him, the police department wouldn’t be so exhausted.

The military was stationed at the resettlement camp, relieving the residents of the community from their worries. With them around, even neighboring villagers would think twice before attempting anything against Aoyuan.

Recalling the terrifying night before, the residents of the community once again looked up to Huo Yishen and Jiang Ning, unable to express their gratitude and admiration enough.

The two of them had saved the entire community.

Jiang Ning had just fetched water from the well, but the way the residents looked at her had changed.

While others in line barely got 10 liters, the man guarding the well gave her half a bucket directly.

Jiang Ning, honest and straightforward, said, “Uncle, you’re giving too much.”

“It’s fine, I’m afraid you won’t have enough,” the uncle chuckled. “You’ve made significant contributions to the community; no one will object.”

Others in line chimed in agreement, “That’s right, if it weren’t for you last night, we might have been slaughtered by those thugs.”

Jiang Ning awkwardly carried the bucket and hurried away.

On the way, she bumped into He Tianming, who was taking the well digger to the resettlement camp, offering assistance if needed.

Firstly, it was necessary for neighbors to get along harmoniously. Secondly, if they could help resolve the water crisis appropriately, the refugees wouldn’t have to covet the community’s well every day, potentially harboring ill intentions.

It had to be said, He Tianming was truly… adept at handling situations!

…

Since the earthquake rescue, Coke had officially ended his life of hinding and openly moved around the community.

Even if their heart longed for it, they didn’t dare to act on their cravings.

Who would dare to eye the beloved pet of Huo Yishen and Jiang Ning, knowing that just the two of them could easily subdue three to four hundred thugs?

While freedom was regained, Coke soon faced a new dilemma…
