The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 537: Blowing Things Way Out of Proportion

Chapter 537: Blowing Things Way Out of Proportion

After getting scolded by his sister, Rong Sanshao finally snapped out of it. He was on duty, after all.

He went over to handle the shift handover and found out this was a special order. Not only that, they needed military trucks to help with the transport. He quickly pulled the other squad leader aside and whispered, “Brother, what’s the deal with my sister?”

He had never seen such a thing before—it’s rare for the military to give out special approvals.

The other man chuckled. “Are you messing with me? You’re calling her sister so affectionately and still don’t know her background?”

Rong Sanshao wasn’t embarrassed and humbly replied, “My sister is like my ultimate idol—the kind of person I’m not even worthy of carrying shoes for.”

He had no problem being friendly with anyone—even a pig or dog—let alone a comrade.

The two had a decent relationship, so the other man didn’t hold back. “She’s the Chief’s precious daughter. Better treat her right.”

Whoa…What the heck?!

Rong Sanshao almost bit his tongue. Someone, please tell him—when did his sister get this kind of status?

At this point, carrying shoes was out of the question; he might as well be licking her feet!

Like father, like daughter. No wonder she was his sister!

Once the handover was done, the team started unloading and discussing how to get the Humvee off the fishing boat.

At one point, Jiang Ning caught Rong Sanshao’s gaze.

Ugh, she knew it. This man was sharp and calculating. Those titanium-coated eyes of his almost blinded her.

It took a ton of effort, but they finally got the “Uncrowned King of the Apocalypse” down.

Rong Sanshao ran his hands over the beastly vehicle, practically drooling on the hood.

Ah, just thinking about those three cars he’d lost made his heart ache so bad he could hardly breathe.

Ignoring him, Jiang Ning and the others took the fishing boat back to the submarine to load more supplies.

Another full load—an insane variety of supplies that almost crushed the three military trucks. Even the Humvee was packed to the brim.

Jiang Ning wasn’t stingy. She generously handed over five barrels of fuel, around 800 liters total, as a rental and service fee.

She tossed the key to Rong Sanshao. “Can you drive us back?”

Rong Sanshao caught the key and froze for a second before lighting up with excitement. “Sister, brother-in-law, I’ll make sure you get home safe!”

With the green pass they had, registering the fuel and firearms went smoothly.

The Humvee led the way, followed by three military trucks, drawing countless stares and gasps along the road.

Envy, jealousy.

Where did this rich household come from? They were dripping with wealth!

Even the Chief’s family didn’t live this lavishly.

Rong Sanshao’s hands were shaking as he gripped the steering wheel. Driving this car felt amazing, with top-tier configurations that were simply unbeatable. Not just regular bullets—this car could probably withstand even armor-piercing rounds.

The adrenaline was rushing to his head.

How many years had it been since he’d driven such an incredible vehicle?

It felt like he was gone back to the time before the disaster, meeting his old self who was lost in a world of indulgence and luxury.

However, the drive wasn’t long. In less than 20 kilometers, they arrived at their destination.

The car stopped right next to the Chief’s house.

Jiang Ning didn’t expect Gu Tinglin to work so fast. In just a few days, he’d finished building the house.

A two-meter-high walls and the 100-square-meter red brick house were almost complete.

Doudou was preparing lunch for the workers when she heard the commotion. She quickly came out and greeted them with excitement, “Brother, sister-in-law.”

With the new house almost done, the supplies from the three military trucks were unloaded and moved inside.

The Humvee, of course, was driven straight in, leaving countless of people green with envy.

Jiang Ning brought out a box filled with candy, soybeans, mung beans, red beans, and assorted grains to give to the hardworking soldiers as a thank-you.

Rong Sanshao was caught off guard. “Sister, we’re the people’s soldiers. We serve the people—we can’t take anything from you.”

“Stop being so polite. Take it back with you first, and if you don’t know what to do with it, ask your superiors.”

“Thank you, sister. We won’t hold back then.”

With their shift still unfinished, they didn’t stick around long and quickly drove off in the military trucks.

Doudou came over holding a plate of steamed sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. “Uncles and brothers, thank you for your hard work!”

The little girl’s sweet words and adorable looks melted their hearts, motivating them to wrap up the final touches on the house.

People really can’t be compared. These soldiers can only eat two meals a day and stop when they’re about 60% full, while the Chief’s place has so much supplies that even an army truck can’t carry it all.”

The boxes, covered in foreign writing, gave no hint of what was inside—but it was definitely something valuable.

One of the bolder workers couldn’t help but ask, “Hey, handsome man, beautiful lady, what’s in all those boxes?”

Everything had gone through proper channels, so Jiang Ning confidently replied, “This? Oh, just supplies we earned after fighting with foreigners across the globe for years.”

She was totally exaggerating.

But with all that foreign text on the boxes, it looked legit enough. Nobody dared question her further.

Among the workers were some who, back in the day, had been fluent in English and corporate giants. They could tell these were special military supplies from abroad.

But considering their positions, they didn’t want to say anything that might cause trouble.

Focused on making ends meet, the workers didn’t linger. They left happily with their share of sweet potatoes and regular potatoes.

The foreman came over to report, “The house is done. If there’s nothing else, we’ll be leaving.”

Jiang Ning politely replied, “Okay, we’ll inspect the house later. Contact us if you need anything.”

The door was made of color steel panels which is not sturdy enough to withstand impacts. They would replace it when they had the chance.

After a busy morning of moving and lifting, they were both tired and thirsty, so they quickly closed the door to the house and sat down to eat.

The house was spacious—four bedrooms and two living rooms, complete with a kitchen and a storage room. There weren’t any floor tiles, just a well-packed dirt floor. The wooden windows also didn’t let in as much light as the glass windows before the disaster.

But in Fengcheng, this house was already a luxury. Even the Chief’s house wasn’t this nice. What more could they ask for?

Completely drained, Jiang Ning pulled out a seven-figure bed and passed out for a nap.

After their afternoon rest, the two of them began sorting the supplies that had piled up in the front yard.

They cleared out a room specifically for the valuable items, filling it entirely.

Since fuel posed a fire risk, it was stored in a shaded, waterproof corner of the front yard. On the right side of the house, they set up a solar power system.

This military-grade system was highly efficient at converting solar energy and could store up to 500 kilowatt-hours. The only downside? Its voltage didn’t match the local standard, so a converter would be needed to power the old domestic appliances.

Fortunately, they had gathered a wide range of supplies, from the most unusual to the most ordinary, and they even found a converter in their space.

By the time they had finished, Shu Xueqing came home from work. Seeing the two of them return, she was very happy. As for the car in the front yard and the solar panels, she was surprised but didn’t ask any questions.

Living with Gu Tinglin for years had shaped her personality—she knew better than to pry into things she shouldn’t.

Especially now, with the base up and running, it wasn’t just a simple military operation anymore. Civilian affairs and management had made things far more complex.

She wasn’t very ambitious; all she wanted was a peaceful, happy life with Gu Tinglin. That’s why she treated his daughter with kindness and care. “How was the trip? Old Gu’s been worried the past few days.”

Jiang Ning nodded. “It was fine.”

“I’ll go cook. Come over for dinner tonight.”

Jiang Ning smiled and replied, “We’ll start cooking ourselves. You’re both welcome to come over later and join us for a housewarming meal.”

It was rare for her to extend an invitation. Seeing this as a chance to strengthen the bond between father and daughter, Shu Xueqing happily agreed without hesitation.
