The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 625: It’s Charging Toward Us

Chapter 625: It’s Charging Toward Us

Blowing one’s own horn is fine, but don’t overdo it, or you’ll make others lose face.

But Rong Sanshao confidently said, “Don’t worry, sister, I’m not that foolish. We all know whose credit it is that Fengcheng is where it is today.”

The six commanders are about to expand their territory, and everyone knows exactly who owns the resources they’ll take with them.

They’re all seasoned veterans—definitely smarter and more strategic than Commander Xiao.

Not to mention, they won’t dare offend Jiang Ning. In fact, they’ll need her help down the line, and staying on her good side is the least they can do.

They bet Commander Xiao is regretting things right now.

Even though it’s just a military negotiation, it matters who you’re negotiating with. Sending the Americans home in defeat definitely secured Fengcheng’s status.

Any base or group with bad intentions better take a good look at their own strength first.

The military is so pleased, they even held a celebratory banquet.

Rong Sanshao, the head of the secretary team, was snapping pictures, making sure to get his sister looking as good as possible—you never know, these might end up in textbooks or be displayed in a museum one day.

His only sister had to look flawless, from every angle.

At the banquet, Jiang Ning and Huo Yishen had no trouble talking with the older generation.

Commander Xiao tried to pull a move in front of everyone, suggesting, “Old Yu, we’ve been partners for over ten years, and it can’t just be you who gets all the good stuff. How about sharing some with me?”

“Old Xiao, you’re not just pulling a move—you’re digging under my foundation. My department’s been working hard, and you guys are the ones benefiting…”

Once one person started, others quickly joined in, and soon both of them were the center of attention.

Jiang Ning didn’t take it seriously; it was just flattery.

But this shift in attitude was a far cry from how things started.

They not only recognized Jiang Ning and Huo Yishen’s roles, but their hearts had fully accepted and shifted too.

Commander Xiao was swallowing his pride, working extra hard on the face-saving talk. “My dear niece, Fengcheng owes its success today to your great contributions…”

“Uncle Xiao, you’re too kind,” Jiang Ning cut him off smoothly, her expression humble. “A building doesn’t rise without a strong foundation, and Fengcheng success is thanks to everyone’s hard work, especially the dedication of all the uncles and elders here. We’ll never forget your efforts.”

“You all are our guiding lights, and as younger generations, we have to keep learning. I hope you all will continue to support us.”

She raised her glass. “Cheers to all the uncles and elders!”

The younger generation should show confidence, but respect is key.

The old commanders were pleased and smiled, “You’re the future of Fengcheng, the heirs of Chinese civilization. As long as you keep this spirit, we’re at ease.”

After the banquet, Jiang Ning relaxed at home.

She prepared two packages of supplies for Rong Sanshao to give to He Tianming and Chief Ling.

Medications for older folks and daily necessities—both of them were selfless and rarely asked for anything, so getting them to request help was nearly impossible.

Jiang Ning wanted them to have an easier life so they could continue serving Fengcheng.

“I’m often not around, so if they have any difficulties in their life or work, help them as much as you can.”

“Don’t worry, sister, I’ve got it covered.”

Jiang Ning wasn’t buying his usual reassurance. It wasn’t that she doubted him; it’s just that he was always so busy.

The role of a secretary may seem relaxed, but it’s actually full of responsibilities—especially in military and political circles, where not everyone is cut out for it, and they have to be ready to support her at any time.

Jiang Ning glanced at Rong Sanshao, who was starting to look more and more like a grown up. The wild, carefree second-generation kid was gone for good.

Zhang Chao, Lu Yu, and the others had all started their new jobs, new positions, new relationships—and they’d been parachuted in, so the challenges they faced were obvious.

But the four of them were no longer rookies. After over ten years of natural disasters, treacherous people, and even leading teams of thousands, they had seen it all.

No matter how tough the challenge, as long as it wasn’t a life-or-death situation, it wasn’t a big deal.

If one path didn’t work, they’d just take another.

They had everything under control.

With loved ones and friends by their side, and the ability to discuss things calmly, their mental health was relatively stable.

They talked about what needed to be talked about and never asked things that weren’t meant to be asked.

Their friendship remained as strong as ever, though there was a subtle sense that things had changed.

There was more gratitude, more indebtedness, and a polite distance due to their different statuses, along with a sense that people had started to sense something special about her.

Halfway through life, who’s emotions stay the same? Especially after everything they’d been through together.

Jiang Ning didn’t overthink it. She accepted the situation calmly. After all the disasters and dangers, still having friends was already a rare blessing.

As long as they lived well, that was enough.

The special salvage team assembled once again, setting out to brave the waves.

The night before departure, Zhang Chao, Lu Yu, and the others came by. “Anning, Brother Shen, may your sea trip be smooth and your return safe.”

They couldn’t come during the day because of work, so they came ahead of time.

After nearly a month of rest, the four of them were in much better shape, their bodies starting to regain some strength.

Yu Yin’s mental health was also improving.

With her parents around and a job that allowed her to relax.

Things were slowly getting better, and it felt wonderful.

As the special salvage team left, government officials in Fengcheng were measuring distant wasteland slopes, planning to install a solar power system.

Once the electricity was up and running, it would not only improve residents’ lives but solve many industrial and agricultural problems as well.

Another group was scouting locations for a fertilizer plant.

A Fire Seed Container couldn’t hold large equipment, but inside were designs for various devices, valuable documents for when industrial conditions improved. When that time came, Fengcheng would be able to rapidly develop more industrial machinery.

It would take time.

This generation might not see the prosperity of the pre-disaster days, but as long as civilization survives, the next generation certainly will.

They were confident!

The 2688 submarine continued to sail away, and looking through the periscope at Fengcheng surrounded by greenery, a sense of pride welled up.

Every day brought change, and by the time they returned, Fengcheng would have a new look.

The team was in a good mood. “Sister Ning, we’re short one for mahjong, wanna join?”

They wanted dumplings, but how could they lose without giving it away?

Time to bring out the acting skills, make sure to coordinate, and definitely not slip up.

Jiang Ning had no idea. “Coming right up!”

Huo Yishen, who wanted to expose the truth, just sighed. “…Never mind, as long as she’s happy.”

Halfway through their journey, while the special salvage team was retrieving the third container and heading for the next coordinates, 2688 submarine was suddenly attacked.

Sonar detected a massive creature moving at lightning speed…

Large ocean creatures were nothing unusual, but nothing had ever moved this fast before.

At first, Jiang Ning thought it was a giant squid, but Huang Mao shook his head. “No, it looks more like a ribbonfish, but it’s many times longer than one.”

Zhang Li shouted, “Not good, it’s charging straight at us!”

Before the words were even out, 2688 was struck violently, and several people were thrown across the room…
