Chapter 634: Jiang Ning Gets Taken Advantage Of
“Lili, you should congratulate me.”
Facing Zheng Weili’s displeasure, Lu Yu said slickly, “Besides loving you, I’ve finally found my own value.”
Too bad he wasn’t born a few years earlier—he could’ve been a legend in the IT world.
Flirting in public at their age… yeah, only this couple would pull something like that.
Dinner ended early, so Jiang Ning took a walk around the farm.
She happened to run into some technicians from the fertilizer plant. They brought two fresh batches of their new product and wanted the farm to test it out.
The technicians weren’t formally trained—they were self-taught, learning everything from the saved manuals and tutorial videos alongside the machines.
They figured things out step by step and used a test plot on the farm to compare results, hoping to get timely feedback.
Since fertilizer is crucial for crop yield, Doudou was personally overseeing the project.
She checked on it daily, and right now, she was chatting with the technicians.
She looked young and stunning, like a dazzling gem. Her soft and sweet voice had the young tech guy blushing all the way to his ears.
They were still figuring things out, and while their fertilizer needed improvement, they were confident they could make it work.
Jiang Ning didn’t interrupt and quietly headed up to the hilltop.
The mulberry grove was huge, and they had successfully started silkworm farming. By the time she returned next, the mulberries would be ready to pick.
At the edge of the hill, honeysuckle was in full bloom. Workers were out harvesting under the blazing sun.
Around sunset, Bai Xue and Coke happily ran up the hill to escort their poop-scooper home.
Taking a different path back, she saw that the livestock area had fenced off a large section for a new fruit orchard and chicken farming project.
When it came to business, Rong Tingting was serious. Though she appeared shy during dates, she was efficient and decisive at work.
Her work abilities were far beyond Young Master Rong’s, and in a short time, she had expanded the breeding farm several times over, and the down feather project had already been negotiated with the textile factory.
Jiang Ning decided to test her a little. “Tingting, have you thought about your future plans?”
After everything she’d been through, Rong Tingting had grown confident. “Sister Ning, the Six Cities Project is already underway. They can’t sustain themselves yet, so we’re still supplying them from Fengcheng. But transporting things over long distances is a huge drain on resources.
Agriculture is the easiest to replicate. Why don’t we expand outward along with them and make sure we always control the supply chain for farm products?”
She’d spent enough time with her Third Uncle to pick up on Jiang Ning’s unspoken ambitions.
Having lived through the apocalypse, she knew: whoever controls the food controls survival.
Jiang Ning appreciated her cleverness and drive. “You think you can handle it?”
“As long as you give me the chance, I believe I can.”
“It’s easy to talk big, but actually pulling it off is a whole different story. Still, you can start planning and laying the groundwork now.”
Rong Tingting didn’t expect such a huge task to be handed to her. Trying to hide her excitement, she asked, “Can I work on it with Doudou?”
Jiang Ning nodded. “Divide and conquer.”
Before she left, Jiang Ning threw in a little motivation: “Go for it. I believe in your potential and your future.”
That fired her up—Tingting was practically buzzing with energy, totally forgetting about the fish in the pond.
She had a shot at returning to the elite circles. Why waste time raising fish?
Forget marrying into a rich family—she wanted to be the rich family. Her goal? Break into the ranks of the upper echelons?
When Jiang Ning got back from the farm, she found Rong Sanshao pitifully sprawled by the door.
“Sis, you don’t love me anymore…”
“Are you trying to get yourself killed?!” Jiang Ning immediately checked her surroundings, worried that someone might overhear and assume her relationship with Rong Sanshao was inappropriate.
Rong Sanshao looked even more hurt. “You’ve been back this long and didn’t even miss me…”
Jiang Ning got goosebumps all over and shot him a sharp glare. “Talk properly!”
Rong Sanshao looked aggrieved, thinking she was being unfair, always favoring that Sharp-Mouthed Monkey unconditionally.
As Jiang Ning opened the door, she said meaningfully, “You’re so into dating now you’ve even forgotten to freeload meals. Must be true love, huh?”
Rong Sanshao was shocked. “Sister, you found out?”
“Mhm. So how does it feel to change shoes for your girlfriend?”
Rong Sanshao wasn’t shy at all. “What’s there to be embarrassed about changing shoes for my girlfriend?”
Jiang Ning hadn’t planned to interfere, but considering the relationship between the Gu and Yu families, she added, “Are you serious about her, or just fooling around?”
He had too many red flags in the past; it was hard to believe he was sincere.
Rong Sanshao munched on a cucumber and said, “Sister, that hurts! I’m being totally genuine with Yin. I’m dating her with marriage in mind.”
Jiang Ning wasn’t buying it. “Well, I hope you are. Otherwise, Commander Yu might chop you into pieces—and even my father won’t be able to save you.”
“Sister, you don’t believe me?” Feeling her disdain, Rong Sanshao was displeased. “I’ve always taken relationships seriously. Once I set my heart on someone, it’s for life.”
Sure, he was totally serious about love. Never mind the past nights full of singing and dancing girls, or how he used to book at least a dozen young models at a time.
He once dated a girlfriend with an 80-million pink diamond—and claimed he’d settled down. But when she got swept away in a typhoon, he didn’t even go look for her.
Jiang Ning kept her complaints to herself. After all, the second-generation brat was now the secretary group leader in the military. He still needed to save face.
Besides, all of that was before the disaster. Even if he wanted to be a playboy now, he didn’t have the resources.
But Rong Sanshao wasn’t having it. Why did his sister treat that Sharp-Mouthed Monkey with so much care but come down on him with all the sarcasm and criticism?
They were both her younger brothers—no need to be so blatantly biased.
“Sister, if I marry Yu Yin, it’ll be good for everyone.”
Jiang Ning was well aware. “If you like her, then treat her well. I’ll give you a big wedding gift.”
Rong Sanshao’s eyes lit up instantly. “What kind of gift?”
“It’s a secret—you’ll find out then.”
No way… could it be what he’s always wanted?
If it is, then this marriage is happening for sure!
“Sister, Commander Yu’s daughter isn’t easy to court. You’ll have to help me out.”
Jiang Ning was taken aback. Wait… chasing girls should be child’s play for a flirt like him!
Rong Sanshao gave her a wicked grin—yep, he was hinting he needed something from her.
Seriously? She’d already raised a bunch of ungrateful wolves and their pups, and now she had to support him too?
Rong Sanshao shamelessly said, “Sister, Yu Yin isn’t an ordinary girl. She grew up in the military compound—she’s seen it all. I need to go all out to win her over…”
Jiang Ning, being milked for help, was speechless.
“Sister, don’t be heartless! You and brother-in-law are living the good life while I’m out here, almost 30 and still single, no one to care if I’m cold or not…”
Sure, he didn’t have a wife, but that’s because he’d already burned through all his blessings in the first half of his life before the natural disaster hit.
Rong Sanshao didn’t care, acting like if she didn’t give him a dowry, he just wouldn’t leave.
No wonder he’s still single.
What a pain in the neck. Jiang Ning was beyond exasperated. If she didn’t give him something, this two-faced wasn’t going anywhere.
“Fine. Wait here!” she said through gritted teeth, already wanting to strangle him.
