The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 635: Mr. Huo, Let’s Have a Baby

Chapter 635: Mr. Huo, Let’s Have a Baby

Jiang Ning walked into the room, thinking about what kind of dowry to prepare.

She picked out two dresses: one was a sweet, innocent white one—perfect for that first-love vibe. The other was a sexy black slip dress, the kind you wear behind closed doors for a little fun.

“A girl’s gotta treat herself right,” she thought. So of course, she included some lingerie.

Rong Sanshao had always been surrounded by beautiful women; Yu Yin would need a few tricks up her sleeve to win his heart.

Then Jiang Ning suddenly remembered how she once wore a sexy uniform she snagged from a streaming company. Huo Yishen’s reaction back then had been intense, to say the least.

She dug around and finally found something similar that she figured would suit Yu Yin.

She added some cute stuff too—hair clips, bracelets, necklaces, that kind of thing.

Yeah… it was a lot. But hey, she’d taken three top-tier armored vehicles and some pink diamonds from him, and now he was out there fighting for her.

Sigh. “This is karma,” she muttered.

She stuffed everything into a suitcase and dropped it in front of him. “This is the best I’ve got—it’s all yours.”

Rong Sanshao didn’t even pretend to be polite. He started rummaging through the suitcase right in front of her, and when he found the sexy uniform, he didn’t even blush. “Sister, where’s mine?”

Jiang Ning was speechless. This man really had no shame.

“There isn’t any,” she snapped, clearly annoyed. “Ask your brother-in-law later.”

Rong Sanshao just grabbed the suitcase and left. On his way out, he bumped into Huo Yishen.

“Brother-in-law, my underwear’s all torn and my slippers are busted.” Like a kid who knew how to get what he wanted, he shamelessly asked Huo Yishen for help—he was used to asking his old man for everything, so this was nothing.

“Now that I’m planning to marry Xiao Yin, I don’t even have a suit. Sister said to come find you.”

“I don’t need anything fancy—just a suit and leather shoes that’ll do the job. No need for name brands or anything. What do you think, brother?”

Huo Yishen stood there totally confused. “….”

What could he even say? He just awkwardly said he’d go take a look.

“Thanks, brother-in-law! Whether I can actually get married now is all up to you and Sister.”

Honestly, Jiang Ning really admired Old Master Rong—she strongly suspected his high blood pressure and heart disease came entirely from dealing with this kind of troublemaker in the house.

A total money-burning rascal.

She grumbled, but in the end, she still gave in.

A few days later, Madam Yu came over with her daughter. Yu Yin had a little butterfly clip in her hair.

She looked healthy and radiant, with a soft smile on her lips. Whether it was the glow of being in love or the relief of surviving tough times, she seemed full of hope for the future.

Either way, Jiang Ning had to admit—Rong Sanshao might actually be pretty impressive.

***

A couple days before their big sea trip, something unexpected happened.

The Russians showed up.

They came in a beat-up old submarine, hoping to trade for crops and livestock.

“Dawalishi” they greeted warmly.

They were still fierce warriors, no doubt, but their technology was outdated, and most of their heavy weaponry had been lost to the natural disasters.

With nothing much to offer, they relied on emotional appeals, saying things like:

“We’re all Red Flame comrades, shoulder to shoulder in revolution. Decades of good neighbors and all-weather strategic partners…”

They sang praises non-stop, but honestly, their pockets were emptier than their words. All they brought was a single nuclear warhead.

That old submarine of theirs looked like it could fall apart at any moment. Even Commander Xiao felt bad just looking at it. The Russians really had it rough.

It was hard to say whether the warhead would ever be useful, but the gesture meant something.

With only a tiny fraction of humanity left after the natural disasters, every survivor deserved respect. They were all carrying the weight of restarting human civilization.

After careful thought, Gu Tinglin agreed to make the trade.

Like they always said—triangular relationships are the most stable.

But they keep everything in balance, especially since they shared a continent with the Americans. If one side got too strong, it could harm Fengcheng or Huacheng.

So yeah, they made the trade, but didn’t give much.

Just some yellow-feather chickens, and since the Russians were experts at growing potatoes and corn, those two were included. They also gave a few common herbs—but really, not much else.

As for everything else, we’ll see what happens later.

Give and take—it’s never too late to offer more. You can’t just give away everything you have at once.

The Russian’s lip twitched, but when he found out that the U.S. would need 20,000 cubic meters of oil in exchange, he felt much more at ease.

Being a bit stingy is better than having nothing at all.

After coming to terms with it, the Russians happily left.

Half a month after the special salvage team left, the big dog owners arrived.

Not sure who spread the word, but everyone knew there was something valuable in Fengcheng.

How should she put it? The big dog owners are like the illegitimate child of the heavens and the white moonlight—receiving all the affection.

This time, they weren’t born on an oil pile but were sitting on a mountain of gold.

A gold mine, the kind with very high purity, almost good enough to be used as gold itself.

They brought two full ships over, claiming they wanted to trade.

Gold is essential for industrial development, so out of humanitarian spirit, Gu Tinglin agreed to the trade.

By the second month, the kangaroos and maple leaves came in a group.

They were actually not far from Fengcheng—less than a thousand nautical miles.

They came empty-handed but made big demands.

Without Gu Tinglin having to say anything, Ding Qi from the military department ordered to expel them on sight, not giving them a chance to dock.

If they refused to leave, they’d open fire directly.

The last mission for the special salvage team was especially meticulous, aiming to wrap up the salvage plan perfectly.

As expected, they encountered some minor challenges with recovering the containers, but with their experience, they quickly resolved everything.

After pulling up the last item on the list, the team switched to 2688 and headed back to Fengcheng.

Tired, they went up to the submarine’s deck to watch the sunset over the calm, blue sea.

When they had some downtime, they’d call Sister Ning for a game of Mahjong. As long as everyone had their acting skills up to par, they’d get a delicious meal.

The team talked about where they’d be assigned after getting back on shore and how they’d start their new lives.

The special salvage team wouldn’t be disbanding. They’d return to the sea to continue their story, just taking a break for now.

After the day shift, Jiang Ning and Huo Yishen went to their room to rest.

Ready for the new chapter of their lives, everyone was in a great mood.

Huo Yishen came out of the bathroom, drying his hair, and wrapped his arms around Jiang Ning’s waist from behind, leaning down to kiss her neck, “Do you want it?”

They hadn’t yet been intimate on this trip.

Teased by him, Jiang Ning became interested, “Hmm.”

The submarine room was cramped and not very soundproof. In the midst of their kissing, they entered the space.

Huo Yishen grabbed her hand, leading it toward his body.

Experienced in this, they both knew how to please each other, and soon they were lying in bed together.

In the heated moment, Huo Yishen propped himself up to reach for the nightstand…

Jiang Ning stopped him, gazing deeply into his eyes. “Mr. Huo, let’s have a baby.”

Huo Yishen froze, taking a long time to process the meaning before finally asking, “Is having a baby risky?”

“Having a baby does have risks, but things like miscarriage, incorrect fetal positioning, or difficult labor, with the medical resources Fengcheng has now, aren’t much of a problem anymore.”

Huo Yishen still wasn’t at ease. “Anning, how confident are you?”

He couldn’t help but think of Xiao Min, who died during difficult labor. If her life was the price for a child, he’d rather not have one.

“Silly,” Jiang Ning said, “Even catching a cold has a death rate, and choking on food can kill you, but the odds are so small they’re negligible. I’m a doctor, and the space has medical equipment. There’s no major risk.”

She gently stroked his hand. “We’re not getting any younger. If we don’t have a child now, in a few years, we might not have the chance. Do you want a child of our own?”

Huo Yishen didn’t hesitate. “I do.”

Jiang Ning shifted to sit on top of him. “Then let’s start tonight…”
