The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 638: Third Young Master Rong’s Car

Chapter 638: Third Young Master Rong’s Car

Not knowing much about biotechnology, Jiang Ning didn’t rush into opening the hibernation chambers. Instead, she carefully studied the function buttons.

This wasn’t something to take lightly. A programming error or a wrong press could mean the sleeping animals might never wake up again.

She remembered that when they packed up the hibernation chambers, it seemed like a whole box of materials came with it.

Jiang Ning searched for a while, finally finding it in a corner. Inside, there were video files and books.

She took it out and started flipping through the materials carefully.

Shu Xueqing clocked out on time and was already busy in the kitchen.

When she heard that the two had registered their marriage, even though it was just a formality, Gu Tinglin was still pretty happy. “You two were busy with the work in Fengcheng these past couple of years, so now it’s time to take a break. Enjoy a long vacation, no need to rush into your new posts.”

At the dinner table, Shu Xueqing happily started talking. “Old Gu, Fengcheng has a new baby today.”

Gu Tinglin was surprised. “Did the pregnant woman give birth?”

“She gave birth two weeks early. The baby’s position wasn’t ideal, and there were concerns about a tough delivery, so the doctor decided on a C-section. Both mother and daughter are safe, and the baby weighs almost five pounds. Aside from a bit of newborn jaundice, everything else is healthy.”

Although it was just a baby, it gave a lot of people hope and boosted the hospital’s confidence.

After dinner, Gu Tinglin called Jiang Ning into the study. “Do you want to join the military or the hospital?”

Jiang Ning didn’t hesitate. “The hospital.”

Gu Tinglin nodded. “Most medical staff have been reassigned due to the Six Cities Project, so we’re still quite short-handed. Things will be hectic if you go in now. Are you planning to rest or start working?”

Jiang Ning thought for a moment. “I’m preparing for pregnancy, so high-intensity work isn’t ideal for me at the moment, but I can help with training medical staff.”

It wasn’t that she was bragging—besides learning from Old Li and Ma Guangnian, she hadn’t given up on improving for the past decade.

When it came to medical skills, she was no worse than a regular doctor.

Hearing that she was preparing for pregnancy, Gu Tinglin smiled. “Alright, you can start with teaching assistant work. No need to wear yourself out; once you’re through this phase, it won’t be too late to get busy again.”

Jiang Ning didn’t want to pressure herself too much. “I’ll let things happen naturally. If I get pregnant, that’s great; if not, I won’t force it.”

Gu Tinglin agreed. With current medical conditions, it was all about fate, not like before the natural disasters.

The next day, Yu Changzheng came to visit. Rong Sanshao and Yu Yin were getting married in five days.

Times were tough, so there were no formal invitations. Yu Changzheng had come personally to invite them.

There were no wedding candies, but there were fried peanuts, and each family got a handful to share the good luck.

Because of family hierarchy, Rong Sanshao and Yu Yin were the ones who had to come to Jiang Ning’s home.

Rong Sanshao called her “sister” non-stop, his eyes sparkling with excitement, as if he was trying to beg for a gift with his gaze: “Sister, come on, take a look at me!”

Jiang Ning pretended not to see.

Rong Sanshao, who desperately wanted a gift, called out, “Brother-in-law.”

Huo Yishen acted like he didn’t notice.

Coke walked over, staring suspiciously at Rong Sanshao: “Are you trying to steal my snacks?”

In the end, Rong Sanshao left with a look of grievance.

After closing the yard gate, Jiang Ning burst out laughing.

Huo Yishen asked, “Are you going to give it back to him?”

Jiang Ning rubbed her forehead. “I’ll return one.”

She didn’t say it directly, but Rong Sanshao was clever enough to figure things out.

Sure, he liked clinging to her, but he’d also worked incredibly hard these past two years. He was a resourceful ally who’d saved her a lot of trouble.

The Predator had already been used—and it attracted too much attention.

After thinking it through, Jiang Ning decided to return the KOMBAT Battle Shield to him.

It was handcrafted by 39 senior technical engineers from Russia, taking 3000 hours of pure manual labor. The SUV was bulletproof level straight from the factory—perfect for him to go crazy with!

That night, even though he was sleeping in a newly built red brick house on a solid wooden bed, Rong Sanshao couldn’t fall asleep.

His sister didn’t love him anymore.

So heartbroken!

The next morning, still half asleep, he heard a shocked voice outside. “Third Uncle, come quickly!”

Having barely slept all night, Rong Sanshao stumbled out in his big shorts and slippers. “What’s going on?”

Rong Tingting pointed outside the yard gate. “Uncle, look! What’s that?”

“KOMBAT Battle Shield?”

And it’s brand new!

Rong Sanshao’s eyes nearly teared up. His car!

His car!

The door was unlocked, the keys were in the ignition, and there was still a lot of stuff in the back seat.

Expensive sunglasses worth thousands, shiny hair gel, flip-flops that felt like stepping on poop, red underwear, a floral shirt, and cropped pants.

Everything was new, with the tags still on.

Rong Sanshao sat in the car like a ghost, suddenly bursting into laughter. As he laughed, tears rolled down his face, and he pounded the steering wheel with both hands.

Rong Tingting was shocked by his madness and backed away, lowering her voice to ask Rong Dashao, “Uncle, has he gone crazy?”

Rong Dashao was used to it by now. “Your uncle loves his car like his life. He’s just really excited, nothing to worry about.”

Rong Tingting, curious, asked, “Where did the car come from?”

“Does it matter where it came from? It’s your uncle’s, that’s for sure.”

Rong Tingting had never seen her uncle lose control like this. She left for work, glancing back over her shoulder every now and then.

The gas tank was full, and Rong Sanshao drove around the outskirts of the city for a couple of laps before he calmed down.

Sitting on the car roof, looking at the vast, crashing sea, his turbulent emotions slowly settled.

A natural disaster had brought the Rong family from prosperity to decline, with only three survivors out of dozens.

Parting, death, and countless hardships, their lives had fallen apart like mud.

Looking at the rising and falling tides, Rong Sanshao took several deep puffs of smoke, then slowly exhaled the white mist.

He had promised the old man that the Rong family would rise again.

He wouldn’t go back on his word!

Feeling bored during her break, Jiang Ning took the dog out for a walk in the square after dinner.

Sharp-Mouthed Monkey was still helping his wife attract customers. When he saw her, he greeted her with a big smile, “Sister, you’re back!”

Jiang Ning sat down to rest. “How’s everything going lately?”

“Pretty good.” Sharp-Mouthed Monkey was full of energy. “With you and Doudou taking care of us, our business has been doing well. The boss is already building a red brick house. If Meili and I keep working hard for another six months, we’ll be able to move into a new house.”

He brewed some honeysuckle tea for her. “Sis, Qin Mu’s been transferred to another city.”

Jiang Ning frowned slightly. “When did this happen?”

Sharp-Mouthed Monkey was quite sharp, and he asked this question. Did he think she was involved behind the scenes?

Doudou hadn’t mentioned it, so Jiang Ning didn’t know.

Sharp-Mouthed Monkey sat down next to her. “His new mission is pretty dangerous, but it’ll be easier for him to get promoted. The boss is really worried.”

Such a precious gem, yet he made people so nervous every day.

Jiang Ning didn’t know what to say. “Xiao Mu is an adult. He has to take responsibility for his own choices.”

She hadn’t had kids, but she had raised them before, and it wasn’t easy.

Jiang Ning understood Qin Chuan’s worries as a father, but she trusted Doudou and didn’t want to interfere with the young ones’ affairs.

“How long has he been gone?”

“Over two months.”

Doudou hadn’t mentioned it, and she hadn’t really noticed either. She was busy every day with the ten-thousand-mu farm.

Jiang Ning spoke directly, “Doudou clearly told me and his brother that he has no plans for dating or marriage right now.”

“Yes, young people need to be brave and fight for their future. Maybe one day, if Xiao Mu gets promoted, he can better protect his family.”

Sharp-Mouthed Monkey smoothed things over, “When my son grows up, I’ll have him join the army too. He better not end up like his father.”

Jiang Ning smiled slightly, took a break with tea and snacks, then headed home.

It was still early when she returned, so she sat with Huo Yishen to watch videos about the hibernation chambers. But the lullaby in the video was so effective, she quickly fell asleep.

Huo Yishen carried her back to the room to rest and stayed behind to continue his research.

After watching the videos for two days, once he was sure he understood the technology, they began to try the operations…
