Chapter 608 - Han Zhentian (02)
Chapter 608: 608 - Han Zhentian (02)
As a wealthy inner disciple from a powerful noble family that had watched countless talents flourish in the Cosmic Dawn Sect for generations, Zhentian owned many personal ships.
Among them was a transport and cargo ship he himself called the Dragon’s Fang, a light vessel designed to carry small detachments as far and as fast as possible.
It was a beautiful ship, with a main cabin resembling a dragon’s jaws, a platform at its center serving as both a piloting station and a meeting area.
"Let’s go." Zhentian snapped his fingers, and immediately, the spacecraft’s main hatch opened, revealing the interior to everyone.
"This will be a quick mission, so you won’t have your own quarters during the trip." Zhentian took the lead, alongside the other two inner disciples accompanying him.
Not having quarters wasn’t exactly a problem for cultivators like them.
They could meditate in silence for years, even decades. What were a few hours without accommodations?
With a gentle smile, Zhentian continued. "The mission is simple: kill pirates. Specifically, a group called the Gray Claw Banner."
"They’ve established themselves in the farthest reaches of our planetary system, attacking trade ships, stealing, and kidnapping."
"Freeing the prisoners isn’t a priority, but it will earn a bonus, along with each pirate’s head. For every ten we kill, we earn an extra celestial spirit crystal, so we’ll try to wipe them out until none remain."
A gentle tremor interrupted Zhentian.
The pilot had already begun takeoff, the powerful Qi engines propelling the ship toward the cosmos.
"Prepare your blades and don’t you dare die," Zhentian declared, turning to Qingyi. "Come with me; let’s talk for a bit."
Qingyi didn’t refuse, simply following him in silence to a place resembling a living room.
"What did the sect leader’s daughter want to know about me?" Qingyi asked after a moment of silence.
"Honestly... it’s hard to say what she really wanted. She’s a strange girl, and since I joined the sect over ten years ago, I’ve only met her three times and haven’t even managed to see her beauty yet." Zhentian sighed, picking up a bottle of wine and pouring a little for himself and a little for Qingyi.
"Just... be careful with Tianhao. He sees her as everything in life, second only to his pride."
"Even though she’s refused to even show her face to him, he still thinks she’s in the palm of his hand... it’s a bit pathetic to watch."
Zhentian took a long sip of his drink, feeling the smooth wine slide down his throat.
It was funny.
They were cultivators, almost impossible to get drunk.
Yet, they consumed alcohol freely, and some even smoked.
Of course, such things would have no effect on their health, but Zhentian had always found it comical how even they clung to mortal vices.
"If the sect leader’s daughter continues to show interest in you, Guo Tianhao will likely try to make your life difficult, so be careful. If I’m around, I can teach that jerk why they call me the Divine Fist, but otherwise, you might get hurt."
Qingyi remained silent, studying Zhentian’s facial expression.
He was glad to have learned all that, but there was still a certain unease in his chest.
He had only just met Zhentian, but he was already treating him as if they were old friends.
His concern didn’t seem the least bit feigned either.
Should he simply believe that Zhentian was a man of a completely pure heart, who cared about everyone?
Qingyi didn’t want to believe that possibility.
"Why are you telling me all this?" Qingyi finally asked, his words causing Zhentian to ponder for a long moment.
It didn’t seem like a question he wanted to answer, but still, he chose honesty.
"Elder Shen told me that you were an ascendant from the Immortal Heaven. My great-grandfather, the founder of the Han family, also ascended from the Immortal Heaven, but he disappeared shortly after I turned ten, so..."
Zhentian paused for a long moment, finishing his wine and pouring himself a little more.
"I was wondering if, with your help, another person from the Immortal Heaven, I might be able to get some clue as to his whereabouts."
"I see..." Qingyi nodded, also taking a sip from his glass.
He didn’t judge Zhentian in the slightest.
"Your great-grandfather must have ascended thousands of years before I was even born, so it’s hard for me to know anything about him."
"I know, it’s just a silly daydream of mine, ignore it." Zhentian flashed a bitter smile and then stood up. "Still, it’s nice to meet someone who might have come from the same land as my great-grandfather. Let’s be friends."
He extended his hand to Qingyi, who didn’t hesitate to take it.
With his draconic eyes, he could easily read someone’s facial expression and detect any kind of malicious intent.
Zhentian, despite his rough appearance and the face of a hardened warrior, had the aura of a saint surrounding him.
Obviously, not in a literal sense.
He was simply a man who valued honor and friendship, something that, unfortunately, was rare in the world of cultivation.
Even the leaders of major orthodox factions often valued their own personal gain above any of the ideals they swore to protect from demonic and unorthodox cultivators.
In the end, a man who truly valued those ideals was rare, very rare.
During the journey, the two continued chatting casually about various topics.
From the sect’s major events and what Qingyi needed to keep up with to continue growing, to techniques that could be used to break through the Hidden Moon’s secret realm more easily, and, of course, occasionally talking about beauties.
It didn’t even seem like they were a senior and a junior. It was more like two friends who had known each other for decades.
After a little over ten hours of travel, the ship finally began to lose speed, a terrible explosion echoing through the corridors and all the shields activating at once.
They were approaching the asteroid where those damned pirates were hiding, and their cannons were already firing.
