Chapter 503: Toppling an Island
Chapter 503: Toppling an Island
"Pandora, this idea is insane!! You could die, you know?" Violet says as I use magic, borrowing things from that bird-girl’s house to create two gauntlets with claws on the fingertips, designed to grip easily onto anything that’s too troublesome to handle with bare hands.
"I know, but I want to do it, and I need your help. Just go inside these gauntlets to make them indestructible so they can latch onto the flesh of the monster beneath us." I’m starting my escape plan today. The bad feeling has been growing, as if something is approaching.
"Only you would come up with ideas like this! You know if you bring down the island, you’ll fall too, right? The impact will still reverberate throughout the island’s interior, affecting you just the same." She’s talking physics, but I know full well what’s going to happen.
"Yes. Now can you be quiet? I need to concentrate on the Mana Zone." I’m using the artificial mana zone I created to detect Zhita’hna’s presence, but I’m also using it like an X-ray to show me the cavities, holes, and pathways inside the body of the monster that is this flying city.
"...Tsk...fine..." She enters the gauntlets, turning them black and purple with a slightly shadowy appearance. I move my hands to test their mobility, and then immediately start climbing down the tree toward its roots, taking advantage of the fact that Zhita’hna is out hunting.
"..." I try piercing the soil with the claws using the gauntlets’ strength, and to a certain point, I manage to start digging extremely fast. But when I go three meters below the surface, my claws stop digging.
’Seems I’ve reached the monster’s carapace...’ At this depth, my hands or attacks can’t penetrate, but my bite can. So I start biting and tearing while using the gauntlets to push the flesh aside and make space.
Black blood begins gushing out, filling the hole I’m digging, but I just stop breathing and keep biting and ripping the flesh to keep sinking deeper. It’s a bit difficult without extra mouths, but I can do it quickly while bathing in this monster’s blood.
After some time, I sink 10 meters into the flesh, and in 30 minutes, I sink 50 meters, finding a hole. I can’t tell exactly which path it is, but it leads to the heart if I’m careful and don’t take the wrong route.
"Pandora, where did you get this crazy idea?" Violet asks curiously as I start walking. Honestly, invading a monster’s body to kill it from the inside isn’t exactly a common idea, since the interior of a living being’s body can still be dangerous.
"Hmmm, remember Rosaline? The Saint? My shadow insects walked inside her through natural pathways in her body, and through paths they slowly dug through her flesh."
"Since the monster that is this island is gigantic, I’m just doing something similar." I see small things moving around inside here. They seem to be the size of small dogs and are eating something inside.
"..." I nudge one with my leg, and it tries to attack me, so I stomp and crush it. I continue walking calmly. I doubt Zhita’hna will be able to find me in here for now, so I’ll take my time.
"...Sharks, spread out." I create several shadow sharks and set them wandering, looking not only for vulnerable spots but also for threats. After all, there must be some basic security system inside here.
"Pandora, don’t go that way..." Violet makes me stop. I think for a moment and change my path. After all, she has powers connected to destiny, and even though she’s always very vague about fate, it’s still a fact that she knows things.
"Not that way either."
"..."
"Also no."
"..."
"No again." I stop completely because this is the last path to the heart. I think for a moment and start digging, entering another pathway, heading straight for the brain this time.
"Are you going to stop me again?" I ask, already expecting her to halt my progress once more.
"No, don’t think I’m mocking you!! I’m literally saving you here! If you complain, I’ll stop helping! I’m exhausting so much of my strength for this..."
"Why?" I ask curiously. With her downtime, she should be full of energy and magic to use, but she always comes up with these talks about being exhausted.
"...It’s nothing serious... j-just something happened between Mesumari and me... and it drained my strength." She avoids the real subject, and I decide to let it go because it seems she doesn’t want to talk about it.
’Seems like Zhita’hna has arrived...’ I feel the movement in the mana zone. She’s inside the tree looking for me, still calmly, so she doesn’t know I’ve left. I hope she doesn’t find the hole. I hid it relatively well, but if she finds it, she might try to enter and hunt me down.
’Here...’ I enter a small, tight path, squeezing through it and climbing up. Soon I reach an empty area—the brain of the monster that is this island.
"Urgh, so disgusting." I shake myself, splattering the monster’s black blood around the place while I walk inside its head. It’s soft and damp, and very hot.
"Hey, it won’t react if I try to eat its brain, right?" I ask, looking at this pulsating black mass full of wrinkles. It looks like a brain, but at the same time has a strange shape.
"I don’t think so? It must have been like this for so long that it doesn’t have good defenses!" Violet says confidently, and if she’s confident, I’m confident. I start tearing off pieces of the giant monster’s brain with my teeth to open a hole and get inside.
Each individually torn piece doesn’t seem to make a difference, but as I chew and tear, the area begins to tremble. The monster seems to have noticed something is wrong.
"..." From the movement inside here, it seems to have started trying to spin. This makes everything shake, but I open a hole in its brain and enter, starting to destroy it faster and faster.
The spinning becomes so rapid that I’m completely tossed around inside, but I don’t let go, holding on with my gauntlets while devouring its brain, swallowing whole pieces I barely chew just to keep tearing off more.
28= Neutrality - Ability to maintain the body in an automatic state. As long as no external stimulus affects it, your body will continue repeating the action without needing any mental processing.
The system opens, showing one of the monster’s traits that makes sense, explaining why it always flies steadily regardless of the monsters living on top of it.
’Oh, a stolen trait!’ I stole a trait from the monster!! And immediately I’m thrown upward. It seems the monster is falling, and it’s falling so fast that I’m pressed against the top part of its brain.
"!!!"
"Pandora, what the hell!! Aren’t you going to do anything?" Violet asks as the falling speed increases more and more.
"Do what?"
"..."
"YOU DIDN’T THINK ABOUT HOW TO SURVIVE THE FALL?" She shouts angrily, and I really didn’t think much about it, since I’ll probably survive the fall anyway.
"Calm down!" I form a cocoon of darkness inside the monster’s brain, using its brain as a sponge to cushion the initial impact, and using the darkness cocoon to defend against the secondary force from the first impact.
"Seriously, you’re so insane!!" She says, truly incredulous, as she comes out of the gauntlets, which dissolve without her.
"I’d say I’m confident in what I can do and UGHMm?!" It hit the ground, having fallen very fast. I thought we’d have more time. The impact throws me face-first into the darkness wall while its body rolls across the ground. The impact is painful but was drastically cushioned.
Inside here, it’s like a washing machine, with everything spinning and my body spinning along with it. The sound is insanely loud, as if a mountain had been thrown to the ground.
The artificial mana zone shows that about 70% of the monsters died from the fall, while the rest flew away.
"...Ha..HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" I laugh madly at what the system shows me. The screen appears before my eyes while my body completely recovers from what happened.

[Giant Slayer - Killed a giant in the abyss. It carried a level several times greater and had massive size, yet was defeated.]
"..." I open my wings and fly, piercing through the monster’s body with my hands. Now its skin can’t withstand my hands anymore. The power increase is so crazy that it fills me with euphoria.
I hover in place, watching the monster’s body on the ground, the still-living monsters fleeing without exactly knowing what happened. But now, with my new level, I hear a soft sound and turn upward, defending with my hands.
"...." I see Zhita’hna. My hands grab her claws, stopping her attack that was aimed at my head.
"You killed it... destroyed my home..." She knows. Obviously she would know. My power increased suddenly in a very suspicious way. For such a huge increase, I must have killed something very strong.
"Ah yes, I really did, you winged bitch. And now I’m going to kill you. Our agreement is over!!" I grab her leg and throw her against the ground. Now our strengths aren’t so far apart anymore. I gained 90 million levels at once.
The system was right—flying islands are the best method to level up, though not every flying island must be easy to kill. Putting my thoughts aside, I focus on Zhita’hna. Now one of us is going to die here.
