The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 1967: Possession by an Alpha-Omega Overgod!

Chapter 1967: Possession by an Alpha-Omega Overgod!

Cain had a wide smile on his face. Every second inside the Coffin of Life and Death was bringing tremendous growth to his body and soul while cleansing his mind. The worries and stresses that had weighed on him for so long faded into nothingness, leaving behind only enlightenment and peaceful introspection.

Time passed in serenity. Month after month, more Alpha–Omega Nodes manifested within Cain’s body, appearing across his chest, arms, legs, and even his skull. His cultivation advanced with unwavering steadiness.

Eight months and twenty-four days went by when, at last, the twelfth Alpha–Omega Node emerged. The moment it appeared, a massive qualitative evolution rippled through Cain’s flesh and blood. He could feel the nodes aligning, connecting, forming a vast formation across his body. For a fleeting instant, his figure resembled a humanoid eclipse—his entire being a radiant symbol of balance between life and death.

"Eternal Eclipse."

Cain spoke the name of the first level of the Eclipse Monolith Inheritance, his smile widening. Now, his body could endure the strikes of a weak Early ArchDeity head-on using nothing more than his flesh—without suffering the slightest harm.

But the good news did not end there. The transformation of his body triggered an even greater chain reaction. His Rebirth Heart began to beat faster and faster, like a divine drum reverberating through the cosmos. Star Power surged into his cells, flooding his body with overwhelming energy. Cain trembled under the sheer force, and then, with an explosive release, that energy burst outward from him.

"Hahahahaha! Awesome!"

Cain’s voice thundered with exhilaration as his Astral Rebirth Path of Power ascended to the Middle Prima Deity rank. The thrill of such progress made his blood boil with excitement, and for a moment, he could not help but laugh wildly.

It was at this point that Cain finally halted his cultivation. Only six days remained of the nine-month cycle. After such a massive breakthrough, he would gain little more from squeezing out the last traces of time. Instead, he chose to allow his mind to rest, to simply relax and enjoy the tranquility that the Coffin of Life and Death still offered.

Those final six days passed in serene bliss. The coffin’s waters continued to cleanse his soul and mind, polishing away lingering shadows and doubts. For Cain, it felt like paradise itself. But paradise, like all things, eventually reached its end.

After nine months, the coffin began to reject him. Its power stirred, pressing against him, making it clear that his time was finished. Cain, who knew better than to overstep his limits. He was not arrogant enough to believe he could defy a Peak Alpha–Omega treasure. Calmly, he withdrew.

As he stepped out of the coffin, a wide smile spread across his face once again. His body felt lighter than ever, his mind clearer, and his strength had risen to new, staggering heights. Curiosity and excitement burned in his eyes. At last, he had reached the end of his journey within the Ouroboros Cult. Now, he wondered eagerly just how strong he had truly become.

Cain prepared to issue the command for the system to scan his body when it happened.

"YES! FINALLY FREE!"

Shock, confusion, and horror flared in Cain’s eyes as he heard not one voice, but thousands—each echoing the same words in unison. The true terror lay not in their number, nor in their volume, but in their source. They were not voices around him. They came from inside his mind.

Instantly, Cain focused inward, into his Soul Dimension. And from nothingness, a presence emerged.

What he saw made even his hardened soul tremble.

It was a grotesque amalgam, a monstrous tapestry of tangled limbs, snarling maws, and gaping eyes that never blinked. Every face etched into its form was a distorted reflection of anguish. Every tooth and claw was sharpened by hatred never released. Its flesh was not flesh at all, but a labyrinth of writhing tendrils and fibrous strands, each pulsing with venomous awareness, each alive with its own will.

The being was in constant flux—forms shifting endlessly, never settling, never still. Screaming mouths bit into writhing arms, tearing them apart, yet always rebuilding, always feeding on its own chaos. Its presence was immense, grotesquely gargantuan, so vast that it made even the world-sized Primarch of Conquest Leviathan appear like a mere child before an adult.

Cain’s mind reeled from the shock, but his instincts sharpened instantly. His battle awareness, honed through countless life-and-death struggles, surged to the forefront. In a breath, he fused his consciousness with Leviathan, channeling his energy, preparing himself for war.

The abomination stirred.

"Hahaha, look at him."

"The ant is preparing to fight."

"Hmph. Useless garbage, always struggling."

The countless maws and faces all spoke at once, overlapping yet distinct. Their tones varied, but their intent was the same: mocking amusement at Cain’s futile resistance.

They did not attack him. Not yet. To them, his struggle was laughable, unworthy of real concern. They reveled instead in taunting him, ridiculing his effort.

Then, suddenly—

"Silence!"

The command boomed, shaking the Soul Dimension. All the voices ceased instantly. From the center of the writhing mass, a single eye opened.

A dark, abyssal eye.

It gazed upon Cain, and the weight of that gaze was unbearable. Cain’s breath caught as he felt it pierce into the deepest layers of his being. It stripped him bare, dissecting his existence, as if nothing in him could remain hidden.

"We were trapped in that coffin for longer than you could ever imagine," the voice of the eye spoke, cold and immense. "We could not move out on our own. But you..." Its voice darkened into something almost amused. "...you worked perfectly as a vessel."

Cain’s heart pounded as he processed the revelation.

This creature—this monster—had been inside the Coffin of Life and Death all along. Perhaps it had been sealed there since the First Era. For billions of years, it had been locked away, unable to escape without a suitable vessel. And now, through him, it was finally free.

"Take that explanation as your reward for helping us escape," the eye intoned. "And now... close your eyes, as we take control over this body."

Immediately, power surged from the abomination. Psychic force radiated across the Soul Dimension, a pressure so great it dwarfed ArchDeity’s might.

Cain’s body trembled. His mind sharpened. He recognized it instantly.

This was not merely a powerful foe.

This entity was an Alpha–Omega Overgod!
