Chapter 1968: Clash of Overgods
Chapter 1968: Clash of Overgods
The difference in power between Cain and the abominable entity was simply abysmal. It was like comparing a small mouse to a massive tiger—two beings that did not even belong on the same scale.
However!
Even a mouse can fight back.
"ARGHHHHHHHH!"
Cain roared with all his might as he prepared to face a monster unlike anything else he had encountered in his life. The Primarch of Conquest Leviathan exploded with endless power. Its colossal claws tore into the fabric of the Soul Dimension itself, summoning every iota of force at Cain’s disposal. He poured his entire being into the dimension’s matrix, reinforcing it with will and determination.
The entity’s myriad faces twisted with mockery as it watched him struggle.
"Hahaha, look at him. What a fool."
"What is the point of strengthening the endurance of the Soul Dimension? Such stupidity!"
"Perhaps he has gone mad with fear. As expected of trash."
"How can he be so stupid. We are going to take control over his body, not destroy it."
"Hmph, the last desperate moves of garbage."
Their voices overlapped in a cacophony of disdain. The abomination’s power swelled, preparing to flood the Soul Dimension and assimilate it, making it an extension of its monstrous existence.
But Cain did not lose focus, nor did he show fear. His eyes sharpened, his will absolute. He ignored the pain wracking his body, ignored the taunts, ignored the suffocating despair. After ensuring that every ounce of his strength was invested in stabilizing the Soul Dimension, he shouted with all the power of his soul.
"APEX! NOW!"
The abomination froze. Thousands of eyes widened in shock. The grotesque tapestry of monstrous faces all contorted with sudden alarm as a golden hand descended from above.
It was so vast, so immense, that it rivaled the abomination’s own gargantuan cosmic-sized body. The hand moved with a speed that defied comprehension—millions of times faster than light itself. In a single motion, it seized the writhing mass, gripping it tightly.
Then it began to squeeze.
"ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The abomination screamed, its countless mouths unleashing wails of rage and agony. It struggled violently, biting and clawing at the golden hand with the full force of its power. Golden and crimson psychic waves erupted from the clash, shaking the entire Soul Dimension to its core.
Cain’s body trembled. His eyes bled. His mind throbbed as though it would split apart at any second. Pain roared through him like a flood. But there was no time to care about agony—not when his very survival hung by a thread.
He trusted Apex to overcome the abomination that had hijacked his body, but their battle was so violent, so overwhelming, that the shockwaves alone were generating cracks within the Soul Dimension itself.
Right now, Cain’s only task was clear: endure.
He forced every scrap of his power into reinforcing the dimension, desperately strengthening it. His soul burned, but he held firm, praying that it would last until the titanic struggle reached its end.
The abomination writhed and thrashed, but the golden hand only tightened its grip. Piece by piece, it ripped chunks away, crushing them into nothingness. The two forces seemed locked in an impasse—neither able to completely overcome the other.
"Hmph."
The cold sneer echoed through the Soul Dimension. It carried with it the weight of countless Epochs, a force that seemed to defy time itself.
Immediately, the power of the golden hand surged. Its strength grew exponentially, crushing down with unimaginable might. The abomination shrieked as cracks spread through its immense form. The sound of breaking resonated in all directions as the golden hand squeezed tighter, threatening to obliterate everything inside it.
For a moment, it seemed victory was assured.
But then—
The abomination’s central eye blazed with desperate light.
"WE WILL BE FREE!"
Its roar shook the dimension. Its power erupted, skyrocketing in a burst of pure defiance. A tidal wave of psychic force surged outward, so vast that it momentarily forced the golden hand to loosen its grip.
In that single instant of weakness, the abomination acted.
It ripped itself apart.
Not all of it could escape, but fragments managed to slip through. Roughly one-third of its colossal form tore free before the golden hand slammed shut once again.
The escaped pieces reassembled beyond the hand, forming once more into the grotesque abomination. Its power was weaker—significantly weaker—but still vast enough to shake reality itself. It glared at the golden hand with eyes filled with hatred and loathing.
Yet even in its fury, the abomination understood the truth. It was an entity born of negation, of endless malice, but it was not bound solely to blind rage. It knew when it had met its match. Without hesitation, it fled the Soul Dimension.
Cain collapsed.
Blood poured from every orifice of his face. His eyes were bloodshot, vessels ruptured from the immense strain. His soul force and psychic energy flickered violently, showing signs of severe instability, teetering on the verge of collapse.
Then it happened.
From Cain’s head, the abominable entity burst free.
It tore upward, shattering the ceiling of the Sacred Sanctum, surging into the skies above the Ouroboros Cult’s headquarters. Its monstrous body spread across the firmament, blotting out the sun. Its power radiated in every direction, pressing down with suffocating force.
Yet its form trembled. Its eyes glowed with pain and agony, the price of its desperate escape. Even so, amidst that torment, its gaze locked onto Cain’s unconscious body lying beside the coffin.
Rage ignited in its countless eyes.
"DIE!"
A massive beam of energy erupted from its core, hurtling downward toward Cain.
But just as the beam was about to strike, two streams of power toward the Sacred Sanctum—one of pure life, the other of absolute death. They twisted together, intertwining in perfect balance, forming an immense seal.
The seal blazed with light and stopped the beam in its tracks, deflecting the abomination’s attack.
The entity froze, stunned. Its myriad eyes turned, focusing instantly on the ones who had dared to interfere.
