Chapter 2347: The opening of the Eternity Gate
The battlefield fell into stunned silence as dust and violent energy surged from the canyon forged by Cain’s attack.
Origin Island’s rules and laws were unimaginably durable. Even when more than two dozen Alpha–Omega Overgods fought with pure killing intent, the destruction they unleashed remained heavily restrained by the island’s framework.
Yet Cain’s attack had carved a massive canyon straight through it, a wound so deep and vast that it spoke volumes about the terrifying destructive nature of obsidian energy.
"It might be even stronger than the EndSphere from my Primordial Body."
The thought crossed Cain’s mind, drawing a wide, confident smile to his face. Still, he did not allow himself to be distracted. He knew the battle was far from over.
It did not take long for the Ancient One to emerge from the crater.
His body was badly wounded, flesh torn and burned in multiple places, yet his eye showed no sign of surrender or fear. Slowly, deliberately, he turned his gaze toward the shadow sphere. The sphere trembled violently as he channeled its power into himself, drawing upon it without restraint.
The Neo-Angels screamed in agony as that power came from them.
Their pain meant nothing to the Ancient One. Their lives were irrelevant. The only thing that mattered was the surge of power coursing through his body, flooding every vein and bone.
His back convulsed.
From his spine—right between his white plasma wings—massive tentacles erupted. Each one was covered in grotesque eyes and engraved with horrifying sealing runes. They writhed violently before growing larger and larger, transforming into monstrous serpents formed of shadow and authority.
Then they lunged toward Cain.
Their speed and power were overwhelming.
Cain’s eyes narrowed sharply. He understood immediately that if those tentacles managed to consume him, even with his new strength, he would be sealed. Space-time itself would be frozen around him, condemning him to eternal imprisonment.
Yet he did not retreat.
On the contrary, Cain took a deep breath and pushed his energy to its highest level. His obsidian power surged violently as he burned both life force and soul force, forcing his body into its absolute peak state.
He blasted forward.
His fists and legs carried overwhelming power as he punched one of the shadow serpents, blasting it away with brute force alone. Without slowing, he released an obsidian beam at another, annihilating it into fragments of dissipating shadow.
Relying on his immense physical strength and obsidian energy, Cain pushed forward relentlessly. Everything in his path was destroyed—smashed apart, blasted aside, erased—as he drew closer and closer to the Ancient One.
It took all his strength.
Cain noticed that his obsidian energy was becoming less effective against the shadow serpents. Their resistance was increasing, adapting to his power. Still, he continued forward without hesitation, never allowing his momentum to slow even for a fraction of a second. He knew that any pause would be fatal.
The Ancient One’s eye glowed with a magnified, dreadful light as he watched the Scarlet King approach, his focus locking entirely onto the obsidian energy flowing through Cain’s body.
Finally, after carving a bloody, destructive path across the sky, Cain appeared directly before him.
The Scarlet King brought his hands together, beginning to charge obsidian energy for a decisive strike.
At that moment, the Ancient One’s white wings flared violently as he channeled the power of the shadow orb once more. His voice echoed across reality as he uttered a single word.
"Seal."
Cain’s eyes widened.
He felt the energy spread across the world itself, reaching into his body and locking down his obsidian power completely. It was as if an ancient rule had been carved directly into reality, severing his connection to obsidian energy and rendering it immobile.
The light in the Ancient One’s eye nearly faded after using that power, but a wide, triumphant smile immediately formed on his face.
Now that Cain’s power was sealed, there was nothing he could do. The tentacles surged forward, ready to crush into Cain’s body and seal him in a frozen instant of eternity.
Instead of panic, something else appeared on Cain’s face.
Fierceness.
A golden light exploded from his gaze, brighter than ever before.
His index fingers flashed forward.
In a fraction of a nanosecond, Cain struck eighteen points across the Ancient One’s body.
Then, just as the tentacles were about to reach him, they detonated simultaneously.
Jets of blood erupted from every wound and orifice of the Ancient One as his body convulsed violently.
Cain’s smile widened as he felt the effect of the Flow Art: Thirty-Three Stars take hold.
He had known that to defeat someone as scheming and dangerous as the Ancient One, he would need to change the outcome at the very last moment. That was why he had prepared this surprise—specifically in case his obsidian energy was neutralized.
The only reason he could unleash such a high-level Flow Art was because of his new race’s attunement to the universe itself, allowing his control over the Flow to reach an unprecedented level.
As Cain sensed the vitality and soul force of the Ancient One descending into absolute chaos, his killing intent erupted.
This was the chance.
If he acted now, he could destroy both the body and soul of the Ancient One and seal the monster’s True Name within the Scarlet Throne, ending his existence once and for all.
Unfortunately, before Cain could seize the moment, the remaining tentacles surged back toward the Ancient One. They wrapped around him violently, rolling together and forming a massive cocoon the size of a small moon.
The structure sealed itself instantly, protecting him and forcing Cain to retreat.
The Scarlet King frowned.
The Ancient One was a problem that had to be dealt with—especially if Cain wished to face the World of the Root without constantly worrying about the Crimson World behind him.
However, the dark cocoon did not look like something he could pierce anytime soon.
And that was not his only concern.
The very next second, Cain’s eyes sharpened as he turned toward the Eternity Gate.
It was opening.
