The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2660: Surpassing the Overseer (II)

Chapter 2660: Surpassing the Overseer (II)

The battle continued to intensify as Cain and the Overseer pushed their mastery of the Flow to increasingly astonishing heights.

Synchronization, Divergence, and Redirection no longer appeared as separate techniques. Instead, they began to merge into a single combat rhythm, one where perception, movement, evasion, impact, and counterattack became different expressions of the same principle.

Cain’s eyes burned with golden radiance as he predicted the Overseer’s attacks before they manifested, diverted the ones he could not avoid, and absorbed the force of those he chose to endure before sending that power back through his blade.

The Overseer did not fall behind. The pressure of the Scarlet King seemed to allow the entity to push its power to an even higher level.

Its polearm moved with terrifying precision, striking not only Cain’s body but also the points in the Flow where his momentum was weakest. Each thrust, sweep, and slash sought to disrupt the golden currents surrounding him, forcing Cain to constantly adjust his rhythm lest his connection with the Endless River become unstable.

Yet the more dangerous the battle became, the wider Cain’s smile grew.

He could feel it.

His mastery over the Flow was rising with every exchange.

The Overseer was a perfect mirror, an opponent capable of matching his cultivation, responding to his techniques, and forcing him to confront every flaw hidden within his understanding. Against a weaker enemy, Cain could have relied on instinct to win. Against the Overseer, none of that was enough.

He had to evolve.

And that realization filled his heart with pure exhilaration.

Cain’s movements grew fiercer.

At first, he continued balancing offense and defense, but as his understanding deepened and his battle spirit burned brighter, he gradually abandoned restraint. Instead of blocking every strike, he allowed some attacks to land. Instead of diverting all incoming force, he used Redirection only when it would strengthen his next blow. Instead of retreating when the Overseer gained momentum, he advanced.

A slash from the polearm tore open his shoulder.

Cain ignored it and drove his blade into the Overseer’s ribs.

A thrust pierced through his abdomen.

Cain clenched his teeth, trapped the polearm inside his body for a fraction of a second, and used that opening to smash his knee into the Overseer’s chest.

A sweep shattered several bones in his left arm.

Cain used Divergence to shift only part of the impact away, allowing the rest of the force to push him into a faster spin as his black blade carved a deep scar across the Overseer’s metallic frame.

Blood flowed from Cain’s wounds, staining his armor and dripping across the crystalline arena. His flesh was torn, his bones cracked, and the energy inside his body surged with dangerous instability, yet his eyes showed no trace of fear or pain. The only thing burning in them was the golden light of enlightenment.

"BURN!" Cain roared, and the Scarlet Throne within his existence erupted with power.

Streams of vitality flooded his body, forcing torn muscles to contract, shattered bones to remain aligned, and damaged organs to continue functioning despite the punishment they endured. The vitality did not heal him instantly, nor did it erase the consequences of his recklessness, but it allowed him to remain standing. It allowed him to keep moving. It allowed him to keep attacking.

That was enough.

Cain advanced like an unstoppable storm.

Every exchange left more wounds on his body, but every wound was traded for damage upon the Overseer. Unlike Cain, the metallic guardian possessed no gift capable of restoring its form. The cracks across its frame continued to spread. Deep cuts marked its torso, arms, and shoulders. Sections of its armor-like body had been torn away, revealing the golden currents of the Flow coursing through its inner structure.

The Overseer remained relentless, yet the balance was slowly shifting.

Cain’s offense became sharper with every passing second.

His Synchronization no longer merely predicted the Overseer’s movements. It began to perceive the rhythm behind those movements, the deeper pattern governing the construct’s decisions and responses. His Divergence no longer simply pushed attacks aside. It altered the battlefield itself, subtly changing the paths available to the Overseer and forcing it into increasingly unfavorable positions. His Redirection no longer merely returned absorbed energy. It refined that energy, merging it with his own momentum before unleashing it with greater precision.

The Flow around Cain became denser and more profound.

Golden light erupted from his eyes until they resembled supernovas, illuminating the entire Seventh Ring with a radiance so intense that even the crystalline landscape seemed to tremble before it.

The Overseer sensed the change.

Its aura surged as it pushed its own mastery of the Flow to the limit, and for a brief moment the entire arena became a battlefield of golden currents. Rivers of light crossed the sky, collided in midair, split into countless branches, and rejoined in ways that defied ordinary comprehension. Cain and the Overseer moved within that ocean like two supreme beings fighting not with flesh and metal, but with the fundamental logic of causality itself.

Then the battle reached its zenith.

Cain felt the Endless River.

Not as a current.

Not as an abstract force.

But as something present.

Something flowing right through him!

His heart thundered as his blade rose, and the golden liquid of the Endless River seemed to gather around its edge. It was not mere Light of the Flow anymore. It was denser, purer, and immeasurably more profound, like a fragment of the river itself had answered Cain’s call.

The Overseer’s eyes flashed.

It immediately understood the danger.

The metallic guardian abandoned all thoughts of counterattack and raised its polearm before its body. Golden currents erupted around it, twisting and blooming into a magnificent lotus.

Thirty-three petals unfolded.

Each petal carried a different layer of protection.

Each one represented a perfected defensive principle of the Flow.

The Golden Lotus appeared before the Overseer like an absolute barrier, its radiance so powerful that even a Half-Step Fourth Realm attack would struggle to pierce it. The petals rotated in perfect harmony, constantly shifting their positions so that any incoming strike would be dispersed, redirected, divided, and weakened before reaching the guardian within.

Cain’s smile widened.

An hour ago, the Golden Lotus would have been an insurmountable wall, but things had changed.

His supernova-like eyes pierced through the thirty-three petals, tracing the golden threads that linked one layer to the next. He saw the rhythm of their rotation, the path through which force was dispersed, the delicate points where protection became transition, and the almost invisible moments when one petal relied upon another to maintain balance.

Those moments were enough.

Cain flashed forward.

The black blade descended.

The edge wrapped in golden liquid did not crash against the Golden Lotus with brute force. Instead, it slipped through the spaces between its principles, carving along the connections between the petals. The first petal split without resistance. The second followed. Then the third, the fourth, the ninth, the seventeenth, the twenty-sixth.

The entire lotus trembled.

The Overseer attempted to reinforce it, but Cain’s blade had already reached the core of the formation.

A single golden line crossed the Thirty-Three Petal Lotus.

Then the art split apart.

Cain passed through it like a streak of divine judgment.

The Overseer raised its polearm one final time, but the motion was too slow.

The blade descended from shoulder to waist.

For a moment, everything became silent.

Then the Overseer’s body split in half!
