Chapter 1304: Great Shen Empire: Turmoil in the Yunze City
Whoosh!!
An old man with long white hair appeared before Alexander and Yaniesvyl. His back was hunched, his beard was stiff, and he was clad in a dark robe bearing the symbol of the Gluttony Army.
“Welcome, friends from the empire.”
The old man said with a slight smile. His voice was raspy, as if he hadn’t spoken in a long time.
Alexander maintained his calm expression. He glanced left and right but didn’t see anyone accompanying the old man. Although he couldn’t see the others, he could still sense the presence of four more people hiding in the darkness.
‘They think we’re from the empire…?’ Yaniesvyl silently glanced at Alexander, waiting for his response.
“What are you doing here?” Alexander asked.
“I’m afraid I couldn’t tell you that, my friend. However, since you are here, I have a gift for you.”
The old man smiled wickedly as he took a bottle of pills from his pocket. He then explained, “This pill is called an Earth Physical Advancing Pill. It’s extremely helpful for those in the Eight Shackle Realm and below when it comes to tempering their physical bodies.”
Yaniesvyl’s eyes widened as she looked at the pill. She was at the Seventh Shackle Realm, so this pill would be useful for improving her strength.
Alexander merely glanced at the pill before turning his attention back to the old man.
“I’ll ask you a question. What are you planning to do here, in the territory of the Great Shen Empire?”
His tone grew cold.
The old man stopped smiling as he stared at Alexander’s face. His expression slowly turned cold, and killing intent flashed in his eyes.
“I showed you kindness, and you didn’t appreciate it. You can only blame yourself.”
The atmosphere changed. The ground trembled as powerful energy fluctuations erupted.
The old man raised his hand, and his five fingers glowed with a bluish light.
Ohm!!
A huge, semi-transparent hand formed in the air before crashing toward Alexander at high speed.
“Hmph!”
Yaniesvyl stepped forward and swiftly drew her sword from its sheath. A line appeared in the air as a brilliant sword light burst from her blade.
In less than a second, the huge, semi-transparent hand was cleaved in two before it could even touch Alexander.
The old man was surprised as he glanced at Yaniesvyl.
“Seventh Shackle? Strong, but not enough!”
His voice echoed through the area as he clenched his fist. Mana erupted like a volcano, and a huge fist materialized in the air, followed by a sharp rise in temperature.
Sizzle!
The fist blazed with immense heat.
Yaniesvyl was forced backward by the sheer pressure alone. Her grip on her sword tightened as she prepared to strike once again.
However, a hand suddenly landed on her shoulder.
It was Alexander.
“You still lack control over your elements. I’ll show you how it’s done.”
Alexander stepped forward, clenching his fists. Before the blazing fist could even reach him, he threw a quick jab into the air.
Swoosh!!
The jab was so fast that it was as if he hadn’t even moved. Yet, the blazing fist shattered into nothingness, and a powerful shockwave swept across the area, shaking everything around them.
Bang!!
Alexander straightened his posture and turned toward the stunned old man.
“You’ll tell me what you’re planning, whether you like it or not. The five of you won’t be leaving this place.”
…
Meanwhile,
Yunze City.
Heavenly Potion Pavilion.
The room was quiet as moonlight filtered through the curtains, bathing the unconscious figure lying on the bed in a pale glow.
It was Erkigal.
Bandages wrapped around her limbs and chest. Her injuries were quite severe; if she hadn’t received treatment, she wouldn’t have woken up for over a month. Fortunately, she had already received plenty of treatment, so her breathing was steady, but she remained unconscious.
Sitting beside the bed was a beautiful young woman with long green hair draped over her shoulder.
Isabella simply stared at the injuries Erkigal had sustained. Each wound bore the signs of a brutal battle for survival.
“…Just what really happened?”
She muttered in a voice that was barely a whisper.
A knock echoed at the door.
Isabella turned her head and said, “Come in.”
The door slowly opened, and Eilan entered the room. He first looked at Erkigal’s condition before turning to Isabella.
“I’ve finished packing everything. What about Sister Erkigal’s condition?”
“It’s fine now. The healer just finished treating her wounds, and I used some of my potions to help with her recovery. Her condition is stable, so there’s nothing to worry about.”
Still, the healer could only use low-tier healing spells, so treating Erkigal’s wounds took a considerable amount of time.
They could move Erkigal now since her condition had stabilized.
Just then…
BOOOM!!
A deafening explosion erupted outside.
The entire building shook violently, causing multiple people to fall to the ground. Drawers and cabinets rattled and toppled over, while glasses shattered upon impact.
Rumble!
Isabella’s eyes widened.
“What was that?”
She immediately stood up, instinctively conjuring a barrier around the unconscious Erkigal.
BANG!!!
Another tremor rippled through the building.
Energy fluctuations rose sharply, adding to the already oppressive pressure in the air.
Isabella gripped her daggers, her expression turning serious.
“Eilan, stay here and protect Sister Erkigal. I’ll go and see what’s happening.”
With those words, she vanished into thin air.
Eilan wanted to say something, but Isabella was already gone. He turned his head and looked at Erkigal, who was still unconscious.
“I’ve already packed all of my things. We can leave now,” Eilan said.
…
People were running and screaming as a massive explosion erupted behind them.
The explosion shook the area as its shockwave blasted nearby people away. Buildings crumbled and collapsed to the ground, adding to the chaos in the surroundings.
“Run!!!”
“Help…!!!”
“NOO!!!!”
“Please, help us!”
Their voices echoed through the streets, but they were quickly drowned out by the deafening sound of collapsing buildings. People cried out in fear as flames slowly spread through the surrounding area, engulfing numerous houses. The streets were filled with rubble, and some people were buried alive beneath the debris.
Rumble! Rumble!
The ground caved in before another explosion erupted once again.
BOOM!!
A group of people tore through the air and arrived at the site of the explosion. Each of them wore the same uniform and stood atop a flying sword.
The leader among them was a handsome man with long black hair and sharp features.
He was He Zheng, the Captain of the First Sky Guard Squad of Yunze City.
He Zheng stared at the ground with a gloomy expression.
Yunze City was enormous, with a population of five million. It was one of the most bustling cities in the western region of the Great Shen Empire.
Although Yunze City was vast, it was quite far from the Destruction God Mountain, which the Duke of the Western Region was tasked with guarding.
So, who would dare cause trouble in Yunze City?
He Zheng waved his hand and said, “Help the citizens evacuate. Don’t let our people die.”
With his command, the members of the First Sky Guard Squad descended to the ground to assist the civilians.
Only three people remained behind with He Zheng. They were the strongest members of the First Sky Guard Squad.
He Zheng raised his hand and threw a punch.
Bang!!
A deafening sound erupted as his fist generated a powerful force that dispersed the smoke and dust in the air.
He Zheng and the three behind him narrowed their eyes as they saw a flickering barrier blocking the force of the punch.
“This…?” One of the three was surprised.
“This is no ordinary barrier,” the only woman among the three said.
“Be careful. Whoever created this barrier must be powerful,” He Zheng whispered.
Swoosh!!
The barrier dimmed before disappearing, revealing three people inside.
He Zheng narrowed his eyes, his gaze landing on the symbol embroidered on the robes of the three unknown people.
“The Gluttony Army…”
The other three behind him widened their eyes in surprise. They never imagined that they would encounter remnants of the Gluttony Army here.
The three people from the Gluttony Army looked at He Zheng’s group. The tall man with short black hair, who stood in the middle of the group, stepped forward.
Staring straight at He Zheng, he said, “I’ll handle that one. He looks strong. I’ll leave the rest to you.”
His voice was raspy, filled with overwhelming fighting intent.
“Yes, sir.”
The two people nodded.
He Zheng wasn’t intimidated, but his frown grew deeper. He knew that the man eyeing him was strong. His instincts were telling him that this unknown man was a threat capable of taking his life.
“Remnants! Who are you, and what are you planning to do in our city?!” He Zheng asked, even though he knew he wouldn’t get an answer.
He was merely trying to buy time until the other Sky Guard Squads arrived.
The man from the Gluttony Army raised his head. His energy surged sharply, making the ground tremble.
“A Seven-Circle Officer. People call me Black Blader or Dark Blader. They’re both the same, but I prefer Black Blader.”
In the next moment, he kicked off the ground and shot toward He Zheng’s group.
Swoosh!!
