The Extra Can't be A Hero

Chapter 303: Attack the Titans (4)

Chapter 303: Attack the Titans (4)

From the very beginning, Yue and Amon had been able to sense where the Beast Titan had taken residence… not that it made any attempt to conceal itself.

The moment it descended upon Eshon, it had brazenly claimed the land as its own, unleashing its presence and calling beasts to it by the thousands. Eshon, however, was a relatively small territory.

The number of beasts available was pitiful—especially after the Elune and Solaris Houses had joined forces to purge the region, safeguarding their shared mana crystal mines and rail lines.

What remained were only stragglers, creatures driven into hiding by systematic extermination.

That changed the instant Knodalon roared.

From beneath frozen burrows, shattered ruins, and the silent expanse of the snowbound wilderness, the surviving beasts emerged, compelled by a call etched deep into their blood.

The land itself seemed to respond, snow trembled, ice cracked, and ancient trees shuddered as creatures poured forth from places long thought empty.

Bathed in the Beast Titan's mana, their bodies warped and strengthened.

Muscles swelled, bones reshaped, and hides hardened into living armour. The most resilient among them underwent rapid, brutal evolution, ascending into primordial versions of their former selves—larger, deadlier, and far closer to the origins of their kind.

Blessed by Knodalon's power, these beasts now rivalled humanity's strongest Knights.

A mere ten thousand of those closest to the Beast Titan would have been enough to rampage through Zephys itself, tearing into humanity's greatest stronghold and leaving devastation in their wake.

For now, however, the disaster remained contained within Eshon.

Frost-laden branches creaked under the weight of gathering creatures, their breath misting the air as the white forest darkened with movement. The once-pristine snowfields were trampled into churned earth and blood-stained ice as the horde swelled by the minute.

Standing at the forest's edge, Yue and Amon surveyed the frozen expanse in silence, watching as the tide continued to grow—an avalanche of living destruction waiting to be unleashed.

"What an arrogant Titan. It actually believes that it's invincible."

In Amon's mind, the Beast Titan was running a foolish errand. Rather than staying low, it was practically announcing its location. Plus, it hardly cared about the lives that were lost as it rampaged. It behaved solely like a spoiled king that did as it pleased, whenever it pleased.

"It lived in the primordial era, where it reigned supreme with few equals. It's normal that it would underestimate humans, especially since Dragons have disappeared from existence."

Yue supplemented with an explanation.

"But that arrogance is what gives us the edge."

All of Yue's Monarch-tier spirits appeared behind her, ready to launch the first strike. She glanced back at her fellow comrades, mainly those who were weaker than herself, and casually said:

"Prepare yourselves."

"W-What?"

"When the Beast Titan comes, don't look into its eyes. No, don't even look straight at it. Brace yourselves and pray… that your mind doesn't get overwhelmed."

"... what do you mean?"

Leon posed the question, only to be answered by Yue's chilling silence.

"You'll understand soon enough."

With a single thought, Yue released the mana flowing through her veins and issued her command. Her legions of spirits surged forward as one.

Ceres, the Cloud Qilin, and Oristhal, the Starforged Whale, spearheaded the assault.

The skies answered their will. Hurricanes tore through the frozen forest, uprooting ancient trees and flinging shattered ice into the air, while blazing comets fell from above, detonating on impact. Shockwaves rippled outward, igniting the snowbound land in fire and light.

Hundreds of beasts were incinerated every second, their roars drowned out by the storm. Only those beasts directly blessed by Knodalon endured. They howled in fury and defiance, lunging skyward in a futile attempt to strike the airborne calamities.

But their counterattack was short-lived.

Kaethon, the Stone Sentinel, answered by driving his will into the earth itself. The ground split open in violent tremors. Earthquakes rippled through the forest, and avalanches thundered down from nearby slopes, burying the empowered beasts beneath tons of ice and stone, pinning them in place.

Their defiant roars dwindled into pitiful whimpers. At this rate, it was only a matter of time before Yue erased them completely.

Then… the heavens twisted.

Space itself distorted, warping as though reality had been grasped by an unseen hand. A thunderous, beastly howl tore through the air, reverberating inside the minds of everyone present. The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Snow ceased its descent, the winds stilled, and an overwhelming pressure slammed down upon the battlefield. A pressure that demanded submission. Fear exploded across the minds of the onlookers as a colossal form emerged—towering like a hill given flesh.

Coarse brown fur rippled with raw power, and its yellow eyes, slit like a predator's, seemed to reflect the deepest fears of those who gazed upon them.

Knodalon had revealed himself.

Amon and Yue stood firm, untouched by the Titan's gaze.

But for the others, instinct took over.

Knees buckled. Hearts pounded. A primal terror surged through their blood, as though the being before them was their ancient master—the progenitor to whom their very lineage answered.

The effect was devastating.

Leon and Ellahan suffered the most. Despite their immense blessings, they were still mortals, and before the overwhelming presence of a Titan, their bodies and souls screamed in protest.

The Sword Saint and Aluria fared better, though only barely. They could not meet Knodalon's eyes, yet they forced themselves to acknowledge its existence.

Manon alone remained unaffected. As an artificial lifeform, the Sky Spear had no bloodline to bind, no instinct to suppress. Knodalon's authority passed over him without effect.

Even so, the sheer volume of mana radiating from the Beast Titan was enough to make Manon pause, forcing the man to reassess, with cold logic, the wisdom of waging war against the Titans.

"Hmph, what insolence! How dare you disrupt my slumber?!"

Knodalon roared and stared right at the pesky inferior creatures that dared to disturb its nap. The Beast Titan glanced down briefly, its eyes shifting between the seven humans on the ground. Its annoyance quietly shifted to curiosity, before it was replaced with recognition and rage.

"Why do I sense divinity from three of you? Weaklings like yourselves shouldn't possess divinity…"

The Beast Titan's gaze locked onto Amon, Yue and Aluria, wholly ignoring the other four as if they were insignificant ants. To the Beast Titan, those without a shred of divinity were nothing more than playthings or food. So, it couldn't care less that Ellahan was suffering under its gaze, or Leon was seething with rage and was ready to draw Ascalon to launch the first strike.

Amon and Yue's divinity felt foreign, as if they were a different type of energy that it was used to. But Aluria's…

"Wait… why does your mana feel so familiar… no, this is!"

Knodalon's voice erupted with surprise, perhaps even a tinge of joy.

"Khion! Is that you?! Agnosia told us that you perished!"

The Beast Titan was sensing the previous Ocean Titan's energy emitting out from Aluria. For a moment, Knodalon felt blissful, as if he had finally reunited with his sister, whom he'd thought was dead. But, it didn't take long for Knodalon to recognise the discrepancy with Aluria's mana.

"No, you're not Khion… No, you've just absorbed her divinity!"

At that moment, the Beast Titan's emotions erupted into unrestrained rage. The very notion was intolerable—an inferior creature wielding divinity was already an affront, but to bear the divinity of one of his own kind was unforgivable.

Knodalon roared, and the full weight of his intimidation crashed down upon Aluria. The newly ascended Ocean Goddess trembled beneath the Titan's wrath, her body stiffening as her bloodline screamed at her to kneel, to prostrate herself, to beg forgiveness for her audacity.

Though she bore the title of Goddess, her divinity was diluted, fractured by inheritance.

Khion, the original Ocean Titan, had lost his divinity to Thalassa, her mount, upon his death.

Thalassa, in turn, had passed that power to Aluria—the maiden entrusted with sealing her existence.

By the time it reached Aluria, the divinity had thinned to a fraction of its former self. Compared to Khion's original might, Aluria possessed barely half of that power at best. It was no wonder she faltered beneath Knodalon's roar.

But she was not alone.

There were those present who were immune to the Beast Titan's authority.

In the next instant, Amon stepped forward. Moonlight blossomed around him, unfurling into his Moonlight Sanctum. Silvery radiance cascaded over the battlefield, forming an absolute barrier that severed Knodalon's oppressive influence.

As the Titan's intimidation was forcibly stripped away, the pressure vanished. For the first time, they were able to gaze freely upon the full, terrifying form of the Beast Titan.

"... you, what are you?"

For the first time, Knodalon felt apprehension. Amon's authority superseded its own, and its primal intimidation, which should have worked on all living creatures, didn't affect the young man in the slightest. No, it was even superior to the Beast Titan's own, which was completely incomprehensible to Knodalon.

"I would love to answer your question, but… do you have the luxury to listen?"

"What-...?"

Before the Beast Titan could breathe a question, a fist came flying down from the heavens. Kaethon, the Stone Sentinel, sent a mountain-sized punch right into the Titan's snout, forcing it to fall from its proverbial perch.

Knodalon was beyond stunned… did an inferior being actually manage to… harm it?

The Beast Titan looked up, only to see a white-haired inferior creature gazing down on it like he was the inferior one. Laughing, Yue scoffed:

"Your enemy is me, doggy."
