Chapter 1929 Get Them Drunk
Chapter 1929 Get Them Drunk
Hawk and the bunnies working together was bound to be a disaster in the making. But with the assistance of everyone else in the kitchen, Hawk managed not to cause too much chaos, all things considered.
He kept forgetting that he couldn't fly indoors in this form, as his wings were too large when spread, and just ran into people.
He wasn't good with the humanoid hands, and he wasn't used to standing on the floor.
But he was learning.
And the food was improving by the minute as everyone adapted to having [Divine Cooking] spread through the entire kitchen staff. That new skill was only an expansion on their skills, as if they had gained a hundred years of experience and a greater understanding of the metaphysics behind cooking with mana.
So, the food and drinks at the party were improving, and the party began to expand.
First, it was the Elders.
Then, the food drew the Lycans.
Then, the party drew passersby, who called their friends, and the Elder welcoming party turned into a townwide celebration with Divine Chef catered buffets and fine liquors taken from the New Home Merchant Clan warehouse.
"Sir Karl, there are more Esteemed Guests arriving," the Dark Elven High Priestess announced as she came up to the second floor, which was only accessible with permission from the Darklight Host members.
"Oh, outsiders?"
"Travelling Immortals, who were planning to stay at the inn and do some shopping tomorrow." She explained.
"Alright, if they're important, bring them up."
"Travelling Immortals, who were planning to stay at the inn and do some shopping tomorrow." She explained.
"Alright, if they're important, bring them up."
The other Priestess entered with a pair of awestruck looking men in black robes bearing the Almeixei Sect logos.
"Ah, Guild Leader Karl. Thank you for having us, and congratulations on reaching Ascended Immortal. Your growth rate is absolutely astounding. Please forgive our intrusion, and accept this small token of congratulations for you and your wife."
The Elder handed over a pair of small jade tokens, linked for communication between two people.
They weren't particularly valuable, but they were exquisitely carved works of art, as well as being functional.
"Thank you, Elders. Come, try the food. We recently obtained a new cooking related skill for the Guild, and the kitchens are trying it out now."
That surprised them. There weren't a lot of cooking related skills, unless you counted kitchen adjacent skills. But that didn't seem to be what Karl was talking about.
Then, they tried the lemon pound cakes that Lotus had just sent out.
The fresh flavour hit them first, and then the hint of higher level energy that was contained in the food. Their bodies filled with energy, and their minds cleared.
Just from one bite.
"This skill, what is it called?"
"It's a bit ostentatious, but they call it [Divine Cooking]. It's the advanced version of Mystic Cooking that I obtained while on a Dungeon run outside."
"You got Divine Cooking on a dungeon run?"
Karl nodded. "Happy twist of fate, really. We found a team to do a Peak Immortal dungeon with, and happened across a few good things that day."
No need to give him the real details, since most of the Immortal Realm had no idea that these good things existed.
If they told everyone that it was cheap to buy, and you just needed the right people to learn it, they would mess up the whole financial incentive to visit their restaurants.
If they were going to build up the Darklight Host's town, they were going to need more of a draw than a few shops. Having a great restaurant culture and a couple of high-end hotels enchanted with illusion magic for the utmost in luxury would likely be enough to encourage people to come here.
There wasn't much else in the region to draw them, other than the port.
The Immortal Worlds were a bit of a mess, Karl realized.
Everything tended to be run by one large local Sect or Clan, and people didn't really travel much, even though they were incredibly capable of it.
Even the ones who needed a sword to fly could do it at hundreds of kilometres an hour.
Yet, tourism barely existed.
Maybe they should plant some decorative gardens or something?
There had to be a way to not only encourage people to come here, but to come here and stay long enough to spend money and support the Guild.
Self-sustaining entertainment.
What he really needed now was a Brewmaster. They had the food covered, but they were buying drinks from the warehouse, which was making Min's assistant cry.
She wanted to close early and party. But she was on the overnight shift, and people kept coming in to buy stuff from her. If she closed now, someone would definitely report her for slacking at work.
Or worse, the warehouse Elder might come for more wine and find her gone.
It was too big of a risk.
The party ran all through the night, and well into the morning before everyone was too tired to keep up the celebration, and half the town went to bed, while most of the New Home returned to their rooms and duties.
Not much was getting done that day.
Fortunately, Rae's clothing shop and the Guild store were both open for business, as well as the coffee shop and the other essentials. So, the guests who had come to visit could complete their tasks, even if they were all somewhere between drunk and hungover.
For the Blue Elves, that was perfect. You couldn't hold negotiations without at least a drink or two.
The first round of customers, including the Elders from the Almeixei Sect, were served before Karl led the Captains to the back room to talk business. So, Karl was unaware that the Elders did not leave. They simply moved from shop to shop, taking notes of everything that was odd about the Darklight Host's village.
Including the fact that most of the Guild's population was Lycan, but almost all the magic on the buildings was either Fae or Draconic in nature.
Those things just didn't quite add up.
They were beginning to suspect that there were many hidden powerhouses inside the Guild, and that they had somehow managed to keep them hidden from the outside world.
