Chapter 1991 Why They're Loud

Curious about Oak's line of logic, Dana cut in with a question.

"You say that the female blue dragons are quieter. Is this some sort of odd, 'women are demure' cultural standard that the blue dragons have going on?"

The green dragon laughed at the question. "Oh, far from it. There are two major factions within the blue dragons. One faction who believes their primary duty is to record events as they happen, and the other faction who believes it's their duty to gather as much knowledge as possible so nothing is lost.

The first group is mostly female blue dragons for some reason, while the second is therefore mostly male.

The thing is, there's another aspect to it.

The ones in the first group mostly stay in one place, or follow larger groups as a supporter, working as Inscriptionists, Court recorders, Royal Transcriptionists and other tasks that bring them into contact with a lot of information.

The second group asks far too many questions in every single imaginable situation."

Dana giggled as she realized what the dragon meant. "And people snap up the first group for long-term steady jobs, while the second one either becomes Librarians or joins adventuring groups."

"Exactly. So, they're much easier to hire. You just need to accept that they never stop asking questions. In fact, the best way to get anything out of them is to give them new information first, and then ask your own questions."

Karl laughed, while Dana pointed at him with tears of mirth in the corners of her eyes.

"So, it's an approved method? I thought that I had worked out a secret recipe of some sort. That's exactly how I've managed to get our Librarian, and the other blue dragons in the branches we were responsible for over the years.

In fact, we even managed to convince one of them to become the Branch Leader of our Drodh Branch in the mortal world."

Oak smiled. "Oh, I bet he's still mad about that. As much as the love new information, they usually don't want to be in charge of people who can go get it for them."

"She, actually. Her name is Sapphire. And yes, she's still upset. But she likes the crafting skills that we got her, and she's not mad enough to pass the branch off to someone else before she reaches Immortality.

That Mortal world is slowly recovering its power, and soon there should be a new wave of Immortals."

Oak nodded. "We looked into that world before we came here. It's unlikely to generate more than a half dozen Immortals every century, but for a Mortal world, that's actually not bad. Most of them will be sent away anyhow, just so that the mana balance doesn't shift.

More Immortals require much more energy than that world can supply, and it's locked away from the Immortal Realms, so they can't draw outside energy to improve the total."

That wasn't strictly true anymore, with the Tiny World open to them, and connected to the Immortal Realm.

But Karl wasn't going to mention that now.

Fortunately, Oak continued on her own, so there wasn't an awkward pause.

"That world suffered a major war between the dragons and giants at some point in the distant past, and it tore away a huge amount of the world's power. Enough that the System nearly shattered. Or it might have, and then continued in a fragmented form.

That wasn't in our notes.

But either way, the downturns wouldn't be nearly as bad as they are if it weren't for that war and the shattering of the original World Dragon Scale that stabilized the world.

I wonder if they'll find a fragment some day.

If they bring it to the Immortal Realm and let it soak in power until it's Supreme or Legendary Ranked, it could be brought back to stabilize that whole world."

Dana gasped. "Wait, a World Dragon scale can balance the power of an entire world? As in one single scale? Or is it some sort of array by the same name?"

"No, it's an actual scale.

The part that gets people is that it doesn't matter what scale the World Dragon, or his Disciples, use. Every scale on their body carries the same power level for the purpose of balancing a world.

In fact, you could likely substitute one of the scales from Karl's Avatar form for now, and it would start to boost the mana level in a region.

An Immortal Avatar could likely only donate one scale that way, maybe two. But a Demigod can do a hundred worlds at a time before their scales lose the ability. They also get feedback from the world that their scale balances.

Well, most of the time.

As long as people realize that it's related to them, or at the very minimum that something is empowering the world, they'll get a portion of the generated Divine Power from their gratitude."

That thought sent a jolt of recognition through Hawk.

He had a World Dragon scale. Could he empower it with fire, then send it back and make a whole world of fire mages who would worship the might of fire?

[I don't think that's how it works. The scale came from a dragon, so the worship will go to the dragon, right?] Thor asked.

That was disappointing.

But he still had the scale that he had claimed from the missing tower in the Golden Dragon Nation. He could hold on to it until he was Supreme Ranked, and then give it back to them so that it would fix the continent the way it was intended to.

He would just have to put a label on it, to remind everyone that fire was the best element.

Dana's laughter made Oak poke her, demanding that she share what was funny.

"Hawk, the Dark Flame Phoenix, is trying to think up ways to exploit that method so that he can make a whole mortal world worship the fire element."

Oak giggled. "I don't know if that would work, but maybe you could bribe the clerics to teach fire element skills?"

That was a good idea too, Hawk decided.

Now, he just needed to figure out how to teach fire skills to Clerics, and they would be well on their way to spreading the good word of the best element.
