Chapter 2030 Networking
Chapter 2030 Networking
"Do you mind if we bring in a few more Clan Leaders? I have a proposal that, I think, will benefit everyone, but we all need to be in the meeting, or it's going to turn into a Clan War," the man meeting with Karl requested.
Karl shrugged. "I don't have any issue with that. If you think that it's going to be good for business, I'm willing to listen.
I might not be the most powerful person in the Guild, but there's a reason that they chose to have me stay on at the Branch Leader."
Because none of them wanted the job, but that didn't sound as impressive.
The Clan Leader took out a token, and sent a number of messages, then smiled at Karl.
"They'll be here soon, if you can have your people let them in. Not all of them have Systems that are compatible with the messaging functions, so I had to use a token."
The Lesser Watcher escorted a group of ten highly concerned looking Clan Leaders in only a few minutes later, then retreated to the front counter, where he was covering for the Lycan staff, who were organizing groups for the Dungeon, or recovering with a nap after their run.
"You have a rather interesting group of store staff, Guild Leader Karl," one of the new arrivals greeted them.
"Yes, they are a fun bunch.
Now, we've got a proposal by this fine friend of yours, and he says that you all have to be here when he proposes so that there aren't any hard feelings. He's insistent enough that it has to be a good one."
That got everyone on track, only for them to be immediately sidetracked when they took the first sip of the slushy drinks that the bunnies brought out for them.
"What is this? A recovery potion served over ice?"
"Our new energy drink. It will soon be available at the new arena. But that's not the point. We just needed to be sure that everyone was listening before we started with the proposal. Let's hear what he has in mind."
The Clan Leader cleared his throat and began his speech.
"Alright, what I had in mind was arranging a monthly trade fair and tournament, as the Darklight Host now has an arena that can accommodate even the Elders of the Clans. I believe that we should all gather here with our trade convoys, and set up booths to sell our wares, and to find potential talent from among the competitors.
If the Host is willing to make it open even to wandering Immortals, it will be an excellent chance for us all to find members outside the official recruitment events.
It's not so much that we are short on members, but we do love to compete over top fighters, and an organized trade event doesn't work nearly as well without a secondary reason for everyone to be gathered.
People go looking for things that they need. But they will go just to watch a tournament, or to prove themselves for the rewards."
He trailed off and looked at Karl, who nodded.
"We can offer some impressive rewards for the top competitors in the arena tournaments. Being a crafting Guild does have its advantages."
The Clan Leaders chuckled. Karl was obscenely wealthy compared to any of them, just going by what was in his store. But the fact that he could keep making more of it, since he had gathered the majority of the powerful craftsmen in the region to his Guild Branch, meant that he was unlikely to run short on rewards.
Even if he just upgraded some random raw materials, it would be a treasure worthy of the top powers in the tournament.
Even the Elders of the Clans who had gathered to make this plan would be envious.
"The last part of this that we're going to have to arrange is how to get enough people here. We're all from different parts of the continent, though we've all had some dealings with each other.
Some are from as far west as Barma, others as far northeast as Coracas. However, my Clan is inland near Gelon, and I know that the Darklight Host already has a portal to Yizimon.
That's only six hundred kilometres from us, easily travelled by Immortals.
However, I would like to have a similar portal in Gelon.
So, I would like to request that the eleven of us pool resources to purchase links to the Blackwoods Pack portal site. That will add locations all over the southern corner of the continent, and let competitors come to the region for the contest without travelling too far for safety."
The Clan Leaders considered the options.
A dedicated portal location in the city was uncommon for most of them, and a few of them didn't control a whole city, so it would have to be near the edge of their Clan Compound, as they didn't usually let outsiders through the gates.
But it was a good option.
It would help with travel, as they could come here, then go to another linked location for a minimal fee. That would save time on travel, and let them pick up more supplies along the way.
At least, once a month during the tournaments.
Karl considered the options. It wasn't bad. He didn't know any of these Clans, but if they agreed to put them all in public areas of a city, it wouldn't appear to be an exclusive deal with them, but networking for the Guild.
"I think that once a month might be pushing it for the Immortals. Getting people here every month to compete will be problematic. Immortals don't like to travel that often, and they won't have large changes between fights.
If we do it four times a year, that should give them more time to adapt and plan for the next one so that we can get more repeat fighters.
It will also let us make them larger tournaments, instead of doing small ones monthly arranged by rank to keep up attendance."
The Clan Leaders frowned. Karl made a very good point. A monthly trade fair was one thing, a monthly tournament was too much.
