The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2045 Sparring With Lala

Chapter 2045 Sparring With Lala

Everyone took their starting positions, and Lala called the start to the match.

Assuming that he had the upper hand, Shade immediately darted off to rescue his Elf, only to find that the blood knight had higher burst speed than he did, and her strong legs put her in front of him before he had even launched.

The Moor Cat dodged a brutal blow with a training sword, and the obsession demon swayed to the side, avoiding three spells and an arrow all at the same time.

Then, she brought out two blunt daggers, and flickered into combat, her movements so smooth that the mages didn't even realize they were in trouble until they saw her reappear. Fortunately, Anilla had faster reflexes, and her short sword came up to block the first strike, only to find herself flying backwards through the air as the demon kicked her.

Not particularly hard, but with a shove to send her flying.

The mages pelted the demon with spells, but she was still moving, and most of the magic was missing its target. Then, their druid fell, and the healer was gone from the group.

Every kid in the New Home Academy knew that trick.

Take out the healer first, and you're free to deal with the others whenever you want. It was the basics of the basics, but without Anilla there to defend her, there was nothing the mages could do.

They didn't know a barrier spell that would stop the attack, and the demon was too fast for them to lock her down or eliminate her so quickly.

The blades flashed again, and both mages fell, while Shade growled in frustration as he failed to get past Lala.

"Halt. Everyone back to their positions. Take a short break, get a drink, and we will go over what went wrong," Lala insisted.

"What went wrong? Did anything go right?" Anilla grumbled as she picked herself up out of the dirt.

She had been winded by the kick, and in the few seconds it had taken her to get her breath, the fight was already over. Their whole defensive formation had fallen apart, and the demon hadn't even used a skill, just raw speed.

The demon helped the others back to their feet, then brushed them off with a soft broom.

"Alright, I will start while you get a drink and calm your nerves. First off, your formation was decent, not great but acceptable.

The problem was what you did after that.

When Anilla moved to engage, the mages didn't back away, so she had nowhere left to dodge my attacks. You need to give the agility type fighters room. Because she didn't have room to fight properly, and was instead focused on defending you, she was easy to eliminate.

Then, instead of flanking the healer, you placed yourselves between me and her.

That's the intuitive move, but not the right one.

If you're between me and her, all I have to do is get behind her, and now she's between us, and you can't attack me. If you can't attack me, it's all on the healer to defend themselves.

Unless the healer is like Lotus and planning to become a tree, or they've got Tifa to defend against physical damage, a healer isn't going to do much against a rogue type fighter. So, the mages should be shoulder to shoulder with the healer, so that any barriers and defensive magic they have can cover themselves and the healer beside them.

No getting a clear shot at the healer that way.

Unless you're so slow that you don't even turn around before the Rogue strikes, but that's an entirely different problem, and not one we're going to work on today.

The speed that I'm moving at is one that you can all physically defend against, if you know what you're doing.

Now, do either of the mages have a barrier or wall type spell?"

They both shook their heads and the demon sighed.

"What do they even teach at that school? Give me a moment and I will bring back someone who can help you with your situation."

The demon nodded to Lala, who sent a message to Cara, informing the badger that the mages in the school group needed defensive magic.

Cara was currently hanging by her hoodie, restrained so that she couldn't cause more trouble for the PTA at the meeting with the Elders. But the moment that the message came through, and she realized that she couldn't have Karl do it, as he was going to be needed to defend Remi and their distribution schedule in a moment, the badger simply vanished.

She moved to the Chaos plane, then to the Guild House, which put her in range of the Tiny World.

She appeared in the training area of the tower, waving happily to her classmates, and carrying an entire tray of cupcakes.

"Take a snack, it helps with recovery. Lala, what should we give them? I'm thinking Bulwark. Creating a nice solid wall is a great spell for beginner mages, and it's easy on mana if you don't make it too big.

You can even use it to make something as small as a shield," Cara suggested.

"That's actually not bad. Bulwark would make up for most of their shortcomings in this trial. But what do they teach in class? We've got two mages here who couldn't even protect a healer for ten seconds. Even the Cat didn't take a solid hit in that time."

Shade glared at the bunny, who had foiled all his attempts to rescue his elf, while Cara chuckled at the enmity between the two.

She didn't know if it was personal, or if the bunny held a lingering grudge against all predator species, but it was definitely driving them to work harder in training. Not just for the sake of Shade and the girls, but for Lala.

She didn't get nearly enough combat experience, in Cara's opinion. But training against Shade, who had multiple combat skills and a good reason to use them in training, would help the Blood Knight fine tune her tanking skills.
