Chapter 2066 Alchemy Shop
Chapter 2066 Alchemy Shop
That was something that Remi hadn't thought about. Making an Alchemy Shop look impressive needed decoration, and what better decoration than colourful potions?
Most of them looked like a standard apothecary, with everything in cases behind the counter.
And they would do that for the pills that they made.
The pottery group made them the cutest little clay pots to ship the pills in, but they were fragile, and you couldn't tell what was inside. So, they didn't make great decorations. More like packaging for the expensive pills that they sold.
There were many recipes that were better as pills, but not everything was, so they were going to have to get both stocked at the shop, but they couldn't ask Elder Socrate to help with that, since all the ones he made went to the New Home's Alchemy Hall, not Remi's.
That was a shame.
However, she still had Andrea and Oak. Well, when the green dragon finished visiting with her dad and came back to work.
If she came back to work.
Remi was already used to Lotus, and knew that the followers of the Green Dragon goddess needed guidance to keep them on track.
Come to think of it, Father Oak was supposed to have gone home already, but Remi knew that he was still here in the Tiny World napping in the mountains with Oak. She didn't know who brought the pair into the space, but they seemed quite comfortable here.
Probably because nobody was asking them questions.
Being Legendary seemed like it would be a lot of hassle. Everywhere that Father Oak went, someone needed something. They needed help with the buildings and the dungeon, others wanted him to do them favours, or just attend dinners and events so that they could be seen to have a Legend as an ally.
It had to be exhausting.
[ Opal, can you help prepare an alchemy shop? We have our volunteer to run it. But we need decorations and storage and stuff. ] Remi requested.
Opal flitted around the room and gave her an enthusiastic wave, then vanished to go find just the right empty shop in town to put the shop.
Not too far from the Arena, but not so close that everyone would see who came out of it right before their match. One a few streets away would be good. And near the edge of town, so that anyone coming in injured would find them quickly.
The Guild Hall sold potions as well, so on the other side of town?
That would work out well for everyone. It also put it closer to the hotels than the Guild Store was.
With that sorted, Opal started on the important stuff, making a proper layout, and planning the spells that would create the illusions inside the store. Once it was finished, she would hand it all to Karl for him to put his finishing touches on it, and turn the shop from a beautiful illusion with [Reality Warp] to a proper magical building.
That was a bit out of Opal's realm of expertise.
Making a basic alchemy shop was actually pretty simple. It didn't need to be fancy, it needed to be homey, smell like herbs and good things, but not food, and feel private enough to request any sort of potion.
Not everyone wanted their purchases to be public knowledge, so the Alchemy buildings were some of the less social ones, with a few things on display, and most of them behind the counter, where you could ask for them quietly and not have anyone see what you were given.
Plenty of potions were the same colour, and the pills came in a small clay pot.
You didn't need to put them on display like gear, you just needed to know were to find the thing that did what the customer needed. Most people would come in looking for a specific effect, and you could either have the item they named, or something similar that did the same thing.
Both were options for Alchemists, when gear was a yes or no event.
If you needed mana regeneration, you needed mana regeneration. Adding to the mana pool, or other options didn't really solve the issue.
Opal turned the space into what she envisioned as the perfect alchemy shop, and then noticed that Cara was close.
[Sister, come help me finish this. We're making a shop for Remi's assistants.]
The badger ran into the room, pulling a very confused pair of schoolgirls with her.
"Ignore the extras, what are we doing? I promised the teacher that I wouldn't lose track of them."
"Did you steal children from class again?"
"Nope, we're already off for the afternoon. I just picked them up before their mothers arrived. Girls, this is my sister Opal. We're going to upgrade this space into an Alchemy Shop today."
The girls looked doubtful. The room was a simple storefront, completely empty and boring.
Turning it into a full alchemy shop in one day sounded like a lot of work, and Cara promised them a fun outing for snacks.
"Don't worry, it won't take long, but not many people get to see this process, so it's something fun and special. Trust me."
The girls giggled.
When Cara said "Trust Me", there were two different tones. One where you should absolutely not trust anything that she had just said, and one that meant that something absolutely awesome was about to happen.
This was the second one.
Opal set the basic spells, and Cara brought out her {Poking Stick of Crippling Anxiety} to use it as a wand that she waved around as she placed runes all over the walls of the building, setting the spells in place, and creating a properly permanent [Illusionary Domain] for the shop, along with defensive wards, and everything else that Opal had thought an Alchemy shop should need.
There was only one thing missing, Cara realized.
Opal hadn't given the shop a name, so there was no sign, and no display in the front windows. She was going to have to fix that.
A simple potion bottle emblem for the sign, in case people couldn't read, and then a painted sign on the windows.
