Chapter 2065 Get the Juice
Chapter 2065 Get the Juice
Getting the watermelons was easy. They grew all over the Tiny World, and they were being cultivated for the beverages served at the arena. Since the flavour was sweet and light, it went well with a number of other fruits, and the juice itself had some magical properties.
But that was why it worked so well for the potion.
Remi's bodyguards brought everything they needed over from the Tiny World's farms, and waited patiently in the corner of the room for the work to begin.
They weren't needed much other than to fetch and carry these days. Nobody was going to attack Remi inside her Alchemy Lab, and she rarely left unless it was important.
Well, important to her.
So, that meant she was almost constantly in a safe space, surrounded by nonviolent people, and her assistants. Many of whom were becoming master Alchemists in their own right, as they had the Runic Alchemy skill.
With that, they could make the potions nearly as well as Remi could, they just lacked that last little bit of skill and luck that helped them make the potions reliably Rare or Epic Grade instead of Uncommon or Rare.
Remi wasn't all that focused on the potion, though.
She could make this with her eyes closed, the Plague Lord hadn't been joking about it being a simple recipe. In fact, if it wasn't for the mana control that went into the brewing, she might rate it as no harder than making juice after you had the purification array in the cauldron.
Which meant that the toxin that the Plague Lord usually made could be distributed like a beverage.
She had truly underestimated the power of the big demon's toxins. With something so easily produced and so deadly, his followers could do a massive amount of damage.
And now Remi knew how to make it too.
What she was truly interested in right now was the skill that made the giant cauldron.
Then she remembered that Karl had Ancient Wisdom.
[Ancient Wisdom] Immortal Rank, Epic Grade. Allows the caster to grant one skill usable by themselves or an active summon to their entire Party. {Usable as a Guild Skill}
If he used that on the Plague Lord, he would know the skill to make the good cauldron, and then he could just teach her directly.
Why hadn't she thought of this half an hour ago?
[ Karl, Karl, Karl, Karl, KARL! ]
He laughed as the frantic Naga mentally poked at him until he did what she wanted. There were other things going on at the moment, but it really wasn't much trouble. He already had the Plague Lords active. So, he just activated [Ancient Wisdom] for a moment and then [Follow Me, Little One] to grant the skill to Remi.
[ YES! I now own the good cauldron. ]
The Plague Lords laughed as the giant pot appeared in front of Remi.
"That was faster than we expected. Most alchemists take years to learn the trick, and then they can only double it at the start."
Remi preened, faking being proud of herself for a moment before one of her assistants outed her.
"She cheated and had Karl give her the skill directly without having to learn it conventionally," the lizardfolk woman explained.
The Plague Lord looked a little sad. "Oh. I was hoping that she actually learned it in half an hour. She was doing pretty well studying the skill."
Remi nodded. "{ I likely would have had it tomorrow or the day after. But this is so much faster, and now I've got the good pot. }"
"Then we can get right to work. How many of these do you think that we will sell? Should we make more than one batch today? They only take a few hours."
Remi considered the proposal, then shook her head. "{ No, one for today, since nobody knows that we have it. It will be the big seller for the Alchemy Shop when it opens, but with three big cauldrons and everyone else working together, we're not going to run out of potions.
So, we can focus on the other good sellers to keep stock. With the arena, they're going to want more than constant mana regeneration going in. I think that we can make them a whole stack of potions to chug when they want to go all out.
There's a lavatory right by the combatant entry, in case the potions make them need to tinkle. }"
The big demons gave a very undignified giggle at the word "tinkle", but didn't stop preparing the ingredients.
"You know, if we didn't have a magical swamp nearby, this would have been so much harder. The original recipe calls for like thirty different magical plants and a month of prep work. But I learned a few thousand years ago that you can just use any good magical swamp as a substitute," he informed them.
How he had come to that conclusion was a mystery, but as everyone added their concoctions to the cauldron, it began to make sense.
All the ambient magical energy, the rotted plants in the water, and the leftover energy of the residents of the swamp, made it a potent, if toxic, base for the potion. The real key ingredients were the Frost Grass and the watermelon.
They just needed a powerful enough binder that they would activate as a System recognized potion and last for the full hour's duration.
That was the primary function of the swamp water.
The body couldn't digest it well, so the potion lasted, instead of giving a burst of mana and then wasting the rest of the energy. So many potions were wasteful like that, burning through rare magical resources for a fraction of what an optimal usage case would be.
But since nobody knew a better way, that was how it was done.
"Hey, why don't we do something easy for our other potions? I mean, we made the Spirit Enhancement Potion, and now we've got the long duration mana potion. Both are very useful, especially for younger Immortals.
But we need the mainstream staples that everyone comes in for.
The disguise potions, the base healing potions, the Body Refining Potions for the warriors. Those are all easy to make, and we sell a lot of them, so they can fill the shelves.
Make the place look impressive."
