Chapter 2076 Reincarnation Options
From a few rows forward, a Peak Immortal shook his head as he saw the disbelieving looks.
"No, I'm pretty sure that he's not exaggerating. I've met a few in the New Home Merchant Clan who were resurrected into childish bodies with their soul damage repaired. Even some who had been reduced to little more than a fragment of a soul.
And they spoke of items that were helping them recover more quickly from their diminished physical state, so the Darklight Host definitely has the ability.
It's the usage that is suspect.
You see, the World Dragon gets along entirely too well with the green dragon, and I suspect that they're deliberately using the spell to turn the crippled into children for the Priestesses to cuddle, instead of looking for a faster way for them to recover."
Everyone turned to Karl for confirmation, but he only shrugged.
"What? I'm not going to deny it. Baby dragons and beastkin are adorable. The fact that green dragons love them is just a bonus that means they'll be well protected while they recover."
"So, it works best on dragons and beastkin?" One woman asked.
Karl shook his head. "No, the species doesn't matter to the resurrection spell. You keep your mind, but it resets your class to the start, your body to childhood, and you grow up again at a natural rate, with just the skills that you learned on your own, plus the ones that you regain with training."
A Rogue in a dark cloak turned to face them for the first time, revealing the glowing red eyes and pale face of a vampire.
"So, you're saying that it's possible to restart as a child with an advanced class? Not as the basic one that you were born with, but the one you had at the time of your death?"
Karl nodded. "But there's a catch. If you changed classes, and are reborn that way with extreme soul damage, the System will count you as starting over. You'll have the class you died with, but you're going to lose all the legacy class skills that you had from your previous classes.
So, in most cases, it's better to resurrect them normally, and force them to find ways to rebuild their own soul and Immortal Spirit.
That's why we've made items that help gather soul energy from monsters in the dungeon. The compatibility isn't perfect, but for those suffering moderate damage, they can purify it on their own."
The Vampire nodded. "There is a skill in my skill tree that I cannot use, and I couldn't understand how anyone could possibly access it. The requirements are that you must be over a hundred years old, and you must not possess any other Class Skills.
Now, I transferred into this Class, so it's never been active for me. But now I see how it might be possible."
The black dragon Priestess gave him a creepy smile. "Thinking of having your soul flayed and being reborn?"
"The skill isn't that good. It's for rapid growth, but if you have to be a hundred years old to use it, it's definitely not going to impress anyone."
That made the dragon chuckle. "There are plenty of cases where someone from a Sect was useless for a hundred years, making no progress at all, before suddenly breaking through and rising to become an Elder within a few years. Perhaps the skill isn't as rare as it sounds, and is simply better hidden than most?
It might not even be a Class skill for many of them, but a Divine Boon that rewards patience."
That was something that a lot of them hadn't thought of before, but Karl began to laugh.
"There is a man in the New Home Merchant Clan, who insists that he is relying entirely on divine favour to help him grow. He spent decades stuck in the Spirit Formation Realm, and then suddenly broke through to become an Ascended Immortal.
Now, we've helped him grow since then, but he was definitely working with a strange skill."
A few of the others in the area laughed along with him, as they were familiar with "The Moron" and his particular quirks. He was a mainstay at the dungeons these days, as his core group was only five people, but he had outpaced their growth after jumping to Ascended Immortal.
So, he would either go with them and increase the difficulty average, or he would find random groups to go with every day.
"Does that have something to do with the cupcakes?" One of the women asked. "I was with him the other day, and he insisted that I eat a chocolate cupcake with strawberry filling for good luck."
Karl shook his head. "No, the cupcakes are something else entirely. However, they are made with Divine Cooking, so he's probably not wrong to have you eat one before a dungeon run. I'm guessing that you were his healer?"
The woman nodded, and lowered her hood to reveal long ears with white dragon scales on them, marking her as a Dragonkin of White Dragon lineage, and a natural user of holy magic.
"Ah, that makes perfect sense. The cupcakes are a good thing, and he gets them quite regularly. But if you'd like similar ones, they're available for sale at the café across the street from the dungeon, with the same range of buffs.
The trick is that you have to inspect them because they're sold as cupcakes, and the staff doesn't list or mention the magical effects.
They make them with Divine Cooking, by the way. Definitely worth the price."
Hyping up the café wasn't really necessary. The place was packed, with dozens of people waiting on the patio at any hour of the day for potential group members, or to engage in the ongoing betting pools about how the dungeon runs would go.
They had become so popular that the shop even offered free drinks to the regulars who won multiple pools in a row.
A great way to keep them there, and keep the shop's ambiance lively.
