Chapter 1037: Bidding War.

If they spent their money on something they couldn’t use, they wouldn’t have money to acquire something they could use and needed. So they let something like this happen.

When she thought to this point, she said, "If only that dragon had killed the enslavement avatar, all of this wouldn’t be happening. This is all his fault."

When Tepid Scholar heard what she said, he said in confusion, "I even offered to pay the dragon to kill the enslavement avatar. But he refused. I really want to kill this dragon."

Meanwhile, the standoff between the Dao Lords of the Blessed Heaven World and the Dao Lords of the other super worlds continued. Loki, who was ignorant of this development because he didn’t hear a word of what they were saying, was still selling his wares.

"Next up is the killing avatar that used to belong to the Dao Lord of the Sword Way Sect. Any bids for control of this fine pathway?"

Someone immediately kicked off the auction, saying, "4,000 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection."

It was Sword Maestro who spoke.

But then Carefree Immortal countered by saying, "4,500 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection"

Sword Maestro, without wasting time, said, "5,000 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection."

The Sword Maestro had just relaxed when Carefree Immortal called out, saying, "5,500 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection."

The Sword Maestro’s heart tightened when he heard this. But he couldn’t give up, so he said, "6,000 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection."

After he made the bid, he turned to Carefree Immortal, waiting for his response. But no matter how long he waited, Carefree Immortal didn’t offer a higher price.

Down below, Loki was saying, "Going once. Going twice. And gone to the fine lord of the Sword Way Sect."

Immediately he heard this, Sword Maestro relaxed again. Some Dao Lords might believe his behavior to be unsightly, but he didn’t care.

The Killing Pathway was just too important to him. He couldn’t afford to lose it as it was responsible for the bulk of his strength. So now that he had regained control of it, he felt as if he had been saved.

After making his oath, he said to the other Dao Lords, "I also swear not to step into the Sea of Worlds from now on. You guys can do whatever you want. I won’t join in."

"On my first descent into the Sea of Worlds, I nearly lost my avatar. I didn’t know it before, but now I have learned that I am too weak to gamble."

The Dao Lords of the two sides had varying expressions and reactions when they heard this. One side felt like he had betrayed them in the conflict that was brewing between both sides, while the other side felt that he had made a good decision.

Of the six of them, Tepid Scholar’s emotion was the most intense. He was feeling disappointed in Sword Maestro’s decision when Heavenly Eye sent a secret message to him.

She said, "There goes your investment."

Feigning ignorance, Tepid Scholar asked, "What do you mean?"

In response, she snorted and said, "I know you lent him some money. What I don’t know is how much you lent him. But I am sure you lent him divine crystals because he is definitely not that rich.’

Instead of denying this or admitting to it, Tepid Scholar said, "I am satisfied that the Killing Pathway fell into his hands, not the hands of those three. Plus, he will be paying me interest on the loan."

"I didn’t give him the divine crystals, so he doesn’t owe me a favor. He definitely doesn’t owe me enough to sacrifice one of his avatars for me."

Hearing this, she laughed as she said, "Keep telling yourself that."

Tepid Scholar didn’t respond after that, but there were undercurrents moving among the Dao Lords being facilitated by secret messages and secret alliances.

Whatever the Dao Lords thought or had to say about Sword Maestro’s intention to stay out of their fight, they couldn’t dwell on it for long because Loki quickly began auctioning the last avatar. This avatar was the giant barbarian in charge of the Transformation Pathway.

It didn’t come as a surprise to anyone when Martial Will made a bid for this avatar. For those in the know, it didn’t surprise them either when Green Fire and Immobile Mountain joined in bidding for the avatar.

Carefree Immortal didn’t join the bidding war this time. Instead, he was still salting about the lost opportunity to combine the Killing Pathway with his archery the way Sword Maestro had combined the Killing Pathway with the Sword Pathway.

When he thought about this, he said to himself, ’If I had gotten it, I would definitely become stronger than Sword Maestro at his peak. After all, I would have three pathways, while he would have had two.’

’Unfortunately, I lost it. Now I’m back to when that upstart was stronger than me.’

While Carefree Immortal was grieving the loss of his opportunity, Green Fire and Immobile Mountain were battling it out with Martial Will for control of the Transformation Pathway. Unfortunately for them, they both lost the battle.

Martial Will won the bidding war with a bid of 8,000 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection. The price went up this much because, in the end, Green Fire and Immobile Mountain had chosen to combine their wealth.
