Chapter 1045: Losing Streak.

Because of this disparity in their controlling abilities, he was controlling a tree like a club, just swinging the tree around with brute force, while the dragon was controlling each branch and leaf of the tree like independent arrows.

Every time they clashed, the arrows were always able to pick the club apart. The consequences of this were that he was slowly losing.

The dragon spoke with mockery again, saying, "To think it chose you over me. What a waste!"

"What could be so special about you anyway? What could the spark of power have seen in you that made it choose you over me?"

Loki also wanted to know the answer to this. He would like to know why the spark of power had chosen him out of the billions of people on Earth and the trillions of people and killed that the spark of power had visited before coming to Earth.

Unfortunately, he had no one to ask about it, and he was currently in the middle of trying not to die. He was simply too busy to entertain existential and philosophical questions.

Right now, there are two gauges floating above him. These two gauges were also above the dragon. They determine how close each of them was to being defeated.

One of the gauges was white, while the other was black. The white gauge represented how much energy and lifespan he had left. Even without being hit, just activating Divine Metacs and Supreme Metacs consumed this gauge.

As for the black gauge, it represented something called Entropy. So far, this gauge only shrank when he was hit by the enemy. Even so, it was still shrinking quickly.

Intuitively, without looking directly at the gauges, he could tell that the white and black gauges were at 55% and 86%, respectively. He also knew that if one of the gauges shrank to zero, he would die.

As for the dragon’s condition, he could tell by looking up at the gauges. Currently, the white and black gauges were at 71% and 52%, respectively.

By the looks of things, he wasn’t actually doing as badly as it seemed. This surprised him somewhat, but he decided not to dwell on why this was the case in the middle of battle. Instead, he decided to capitalize on this advantage as soon as possible.

He thought, ’Since I am not skillful, I should forgo attacks that require skill to bring out their true power. And since I don’t increase in Entropy when I use Metacs, I should use Metacs to make up for my loss in lifespan.’

’That way, I can increase my energy while draining his Energy and Entropy gauge. It is killing two birds with one stone.’

With his mind decided on what to do, he deactivated every Divine Metac. This caused every mirage and copy of himself to disappear from the battlefield. So the fight became an army against a single person.

Before the army could gang up on him and beat him to death, he activated the Devouring Ability. This is his go-to move to replenish his lifespan in battle while draining the enemy of their lifespan and killing them while healing himself.

The black forcefield of devouring surged outwards from him to cover all of his enemies. This way, he was able to fight all of them with a single ability.

This ability also didn’t need much skill in using and could target everyone indiscriminately. Unfortunately, this time, his tactic didn’t work because he had finally met his match.

The dragon activated the Unrestrained Metac and the Intangible Metac of Freedom Pathway. With these two Divine Metacs, the dragon made it impossible for the black force field to find purchase on his copies.

When he combined the power of the Blade of Time Divine Metac and the True Damage Divine to the Devouring Ability to make it three offensive Divine Metacs against two defensive Divine Metacs and overwhelm the defense of the dragon, the dragon supplemented its defense with the Untouchable Divine Metac.

So now it was three against three. This forced Loki to up the ante.

He activated and added the Death Proclamation Divine Metac to the Devouring Ability to increase its power. But the dragon also activated and added the Fate Defying Divine Metac of the Luck Pathway to increase his defensive power.

Then Loki added the rank 9 Soul Calling Metac of the Soul Eater Pathway, the rank 9 Mind Hijacking Metac of the Mind Hunter Pathway, and the Domain Rules Metac of the Formation Pathway. In response, the dragon also activated and added the Domain Rules Metac to block Loki’s attacks.

When this wasn’t enough to completely block the power of the Devouring Metac, the dragon took the Seal Metac and the Tracking Metac within the Devouring Supreme Metac and used the Power Shifting Ability to turn and twist them into the Unrestrained Metac and the Intangible Metac of the Freedom Metac.

So even though he had run out of defensive Divine Metacs, he was able to create new ones with the ability that descended from the spark of power to foil Loki’s plan. But Loki didn’t give up either.

He did the exact same thing the dragon did and used the Power Shifting Ability to turn some other Divine Metacs into the Devouring Metac. This way, he was able to continue increasing the pressure of his offensive.

Neither side stopped in their attempt to kill each other. Because of this, they quickly used up all 40 Divine Metacs they had at their disposal for their attack.

So now, their power output was at 9(Cultivation Rank) × (9(Body) + 9(Mind) + 9(Will) + 9(Soul) + 9(Insight)) × (930(Supreme Metac) × 270(Divine Metac)), which was 101,695,500 units of divine power.

All it cost them to produce this power was 2,259,900 years of lifespan per second and 2,430 units of Entropy per second. In comparison, their total lifespan was 100,000,000 years, and their total capacity for Entropy was 109,350 units.
