Chapter 1124: Not Surprising At All.

The ability he used the most in the Devouring Pathway was the Devouring Ability. The second most used one was the Power Identification Ability. After that was the Tracking Mark Ability, the Seal Ability, the Siphon Ability, and the Hunting Form.

Trying them in order, he first attempted upgrading them without a template. Then he used a template to upgrade them. During the attempts, he always tried transforming them into a Grand Dao, not a Cosmic Dao.

In both cases, the Tracking Mark Ability failed to be upgraded. Both the template version and non-template version failed to work, leaving his face dark as soot.

In annoyance, he snorted as he started working on the third ability. This was the Seal Ability.

"Please work. Please work for me," he pleaded as he began reinforcing its three-dimensional structure with commonality.

Despite bringing himself low and begging for mercy, he still failed. This made him slap his hand against his face and shake his head.

It was disappointing, but he still refused to give. He took the Seal Ability and used it as a template to make the Supreme Metac.

When it worked, he stood there frozen in disbelief. "Huh?"

Standing in front of him was a small black sphere. It was rotating harmlessly like it could do no wrong. And it was clearly a rank 9 Supreme Metac.

Of course, it was still incomplete. He still had to infuse his lifespan into it to solidify it and bring it to life. So he began infusing lifespan into it.

Usually, when a Supreme Metac has reached this step in the creation process. It is no longer collapsing. As long as there is enough lifespan, nothing could go wrong.

But he didn’t count on this and was careful as he infused lifespan into it. He didn’t rush this last step at all. Instead of pumping lifespan into it, he let it sip lifespan a little at a time, like a baby being fed.

He was trying to avoid the Supreme Metac choking on too much lifespan. But even when the Supreme Metac accepted all the 4.9 million years of lifespan and became a completely finished product, he couldn’t believe it. He had to activate the Power Identification Ability just to be sure.

-DEVOURING(ESSENCE OF THE ABYSS - 49): Bottomless Stomach(9).

Then his eyes widened, and he said, "What the fuck?"

"Why did it work? This doesn’t make sense."

"I knew that I was onto something trying to use them to create a Grand Dao. After all, the Devouring Supreme Metac should be a Grand Dao, not a Cosmic Dao. But why did Seal Ability succeed while the other ones failed?"

To get the answer to his question, he took the black sphere and began examining it from end to end, head to toe, and side to side. It was as if he was on a treasure hunt looking for a mythical item.

He had clearly succeeded, but he couldn’t figure out why. Even the intense inspection of the Bottomless Stomach only revealed that the Seal Ability had become what he hoped to be able to do with it.

"I wanted to be able to seal everything, including attacks, store them within me, and use them later. It failed the first time when I tried making it without a template because I didn’t have enough skills to create it without a crutch."

"The second time was successful thanks to the template. That’s conclusive proof that the template is helpful."

"But at the end of the day, the most important thing was that the rules of the universe weren’t incompatible with what I was trying to create. So the Metac didn’t collapse at the end."

In many ways, Fenrir and this Bottomless Stomach Supreme Metac are similar. Fenrir devours the world and destroys it while digesting it. On the other hand, the Bottomless Stomach Supreme Metac doesn’t devour.

The Bottomless Stomach swallows things whole. Then it stores them within itself. It also doesn’t digest what it swallows, so whatever it swallows will stay inside it indefinitely and can be regurgitated later in the future.

After checking it again and again, he tossed it into the spark of power while saying, "This is good. But I still have more work to do."

The next ability on the line was the Siphon Ability. As he got stronger, its usefulness had reduced because the Devouring Ability was much better at producing lifespan for him.

Not only was the Siphon Ability weaker in comparison, but it also required the Tracking Ability to take effect before it could be used. This kind of limited the extent of its usability because it would become useless as long as anyone could remove the tracking mark.

As usual, he started the upgrade without using any template. Up to the 14th commonality, there was no problem. Then, with the 15th commonality, the three-dimensional structure was successfully reinforced.

He didn’t think anything could surprise him, but this outcome still took him by surprise. He stood there gawking at his handiwork for several seconds like someone who had never seen a Supreme Metac before.

Finally, he shook his head and said, "I’m just not going to think about it."

Apparently, he had a good understanding of the Siphon Ability and had both internally consistent logic and externally compatible rules. He was also so good that he didn’t need a template to upgrade the Siphon Ability to a Grand Dao.

As for why this was the case, he didn’t bother to find out. He just accepted that he was that good and infused lifespan into it.

The final product was a Supreme Metac that was capable of inducing hunger in a target. Once the hunger was implanted and successfully took hold, it would become a hunger demon.

The hunger demon would start out as a curse, but it would quickly become a parasite within the target. This parasite would then set about devouring the target from within.
