Chapter 1150: Good Enough.
Chapter 1150: Good Enough.
After thinking about the issue and how to go about it, Loki said to them, "I think the way out is to learn how they help mortals gain lifespan. If we can do that and grant our disciples lifespan of our own, they won’t be much of a threat to us."
"That’s a good idea," Martial Will said. "I’ve been thinking the same thing too. It is why I haven’t destroyed this unicorn yet."
Heavenly Eye said, "From what I can tell, they use a unified method that extracts the lifespan of mortals into a vessel. This vessel then acts as a channel that the Dao Lords can use to bestow lifespan onto the mortals."
"So it isn’t that mortals can suddenly gain lifespan by cultivating. The Gemini aren’t that capable. They are only giving the mortals some of their lifespan."
"If you’re to be believed, that’s very weird," Tepid Scholar said with skepticism. "Shouldn’t the goal of establishing a sect be to extract lifespan from disciples? Why has it become the other way around?"
Martial Will also said, "That’s true. What could be their endgame by granting mortals lifespan?"
"Is this all just a plot to spend lifespan to buy mortal converters as soon as possible? If so, it is an effective plan. It is just too expensive."
"I’m guessing once they have enough mortals and have successfully anchored their Supreme Metacs, they will stop blessing the mortals with lifespan and will discard them," Sword Maestro suggested uncertainly.
Loki was getting impatient with all of the talking, so he said somewhat impatiently, "There is one way to find out. Grab the envoy and use it to trace the Dao Lord behind them. Then ask the Dao Lord nicely what their plan is."
"Isn’t that too aggressive?" Sword Maestro asked.
"Then what do you suggest we do?" Loki asked in frustration.
It was Heavenly Eye who replied, saying, "I believe that Martial Will is on to something. We can just stand by and see what they are up to."
"When we learn enough from them, we will kill their Envoys. And when they are about to reach the critical point to anchor their Supreme Metacs, we will kill all for their converts."
Green Fire nodded and said, "That’s a good idea. This way, we won’t antagonize them too soon with no benefit to show for it."
"Besides, the Blessed Heaven World is likely to ascend before any of them succeed, so there is no rush," Immobile Mountain added.
Loki didn’t know if they were being serious and truthful or if they were lying and scheming something. But he knew that he didn’t want to sit back and watch.
So after thinking about the problem for a while, he said, "Suit yourselves. I’ll get to work."
As soon as he spoke, a lone star fell from the divine constellation of the Blessed Heaven World into the third dimension, where it became a humanoid wolf with white fur and a black python tail.
In the sky of the Sea of Worlds, a rift also opened. A pair of multicolored eyes peered through the rift, looking at everything below. Whatever this pair of eyes was seeing also appeared in the vision of the humanoid wolf below.
After descending, the first thing the avatar did was to look around for its target. The avatar couldn’t see through the barriers of the dimensions, but the eyes above could do so.
The eyes looking through the rift spotted the target in less than the blink of an eye. The target was a rank 6 moose who was busy talking to a herd of antelopes, trying to convert them to a new pathway.
The scene of a giant moose lecturing a herd of obedient antelopes was peculiar enough. Plus, this was happening within his Domain. So it didn’t take Loki much effort to lock onto the target.
As soon as the target was found, the avatar stepped forward, simultaneously crossing a vast distance in the third heaven and tearing a hole through the barriers between the third dimension and the second dimension. So when the avatar stopped, it entered the second dimension and stood beside the target.
Next, the avatar tore another hole through the barrier between the second dimension and the first dimension. But instead of going through it, the avatar extended his hand through the hole and grabbed the target.
On the other side of the hole in the first dimension, a tear had suddenly appeared beside the moose. Then a hand came out of the hole and grabbed the moose by its neck. The next thing the moose knew was that it was dragged into the tear.
After pulling the moose into the second dimension, Loki asked him, saying, "Who is your so-called Nature God? Will you take me to them, or do I need to use drastic methods?"
The moose was terrified beyond compare and couldn’t answer for a while. If it were a mortal with a bowel system, it would have urinated and defecated itself right there and then.
But it was a divine being, so it had enough power to maintain a certain level of dignity. It was just too stunned to speak.
Actually, it couldn’t speak even if it were courageous beyond measure. This was because Loki’s eyes had frozen his body and mind.
Fortunately, the moose didn’t need to speak. Loki eased the pressure of his Divine Spirit and asked again, "Where is your god?"
The moose still couldn’t move because its body was still frozen. However, its kind could move now, so it could communicate mentally.
But what it said was, "I will never betray the Nature God."
Clearly, it was dedicated to the cause and was willing to die for its god. However, in that moment when Loki asked the question, the location of the Nature God appeared in its mind.
Loki’s true body saw the answer in the moose’s thoughts, so he smiled and said, "That’s good enough."
