Chapter 1173: It Is Impossible.

Her voice was solemn as she said, "We didn’t think it was possible to increase the lifespan of mortals, but we have been proven wrong about that. My question is therefore, what else are we sure is impossible, but isn’t actually impossible?"

Before anyone could answer her question, she buttressed her explanation by saying, "We say it is impossible to recruit divine beings. What if it isn’t?"

"And maybe I am being overly suspicious. But what else would he want to meet our divine beings for?"

This barrage of questions immediately plunged the spiritual stream into silence. Even Harem King, who was getting ready to make a snide comment, had to pause to rethink what she intended to say.

After a period of silence, Tepid Scholar said, "I think you’re right to be suspicious."

"We have entered a new era, the era of the unsealed Sea of Worlds, where anything is possible. So our understanding of the world will change from here on out."

"I think you’re right to be suspicious, especially since we gain our largest income of lifespan from our Rank 8 cultivators. A single Rank 8 cultivator is worth 10 Rank 7 cultivators, and 100 Rank 6 cultivators, so if anything were to happen to them, we would lose the greatest source of lifespan."

"However, I still think it is impossible to recruit divine beings the way he is recruiting mortals. This is because, so far, no one has been able to recruit Rank 3 mortals."

"That’s true," Martial Will said as he nodded in agreement. "If he can’t recruit Rank 3 mortals, whose existence has only just begun to fuse with the pathway, then there should be nothing to worry about losing Rank 8 cultivators to him."

But Tepid Scholar shook his head and said, "I never said that there was nothing to worry about."

"In fact, I remember saying that you’re right to be worried. I only stated that we don’t have to worry about the Rank 8 disciples being recruited."

Like when he suggested demoting every Rank 8 divine being to Rank 7 before the meeting so they wouldn’t have to attend. The Dao Lords couldn’t agree on this suggestion, so they argued about it. Martial Will was the most outspoken against it and refused to change his mind.

During the argument, Harem King said, "This makes me glad that I don’t have any divine beings in my pathway."

"You don’t have anyone in your sect either," Heavenly Eye retorted in irritation. "Even Ragnarok, a much younger Dao Lord, has a bigger sect than you. Are you also glad about that?"

"I might have a bigger sect if I had my Emotion Pathway," Harem King shot back.

This caused another round of arguments that only paused when Sword Maestro said, "I wish we could just vote and make the Will of the Blessed Heaven World cut out his pathway from the world."

"I wish we could do that too," Tepid Scholar said with a sigh.

"If we could cut him out, we wouldn’t have to worry about his interference in the ascension. Unfortunately, we can’t do that since he made that deal with the Will when he sold the Death Supreme to the Will."

"He did that?" Martial Will asked in surprise. "I thought the deal was only 8 Major Daos for one Cosmic Dao."

That was what he saw. One Cosmic Supreme Metac had been exchanged for 8 Major Daos.

But Tepid Scholar insisted, saying, "That’s not the whole story. He also insisted that the Will of the World promise not to evict him. It was supposed to be 9 Major Daos for the Death Supreme Metac. But he gave the Will a discount if it made the promise."

"How do you know this?" Martial Will asked in surprise.

Upon hearing this question, Tepid Scholar smiled and said, "The Will told me when I spoke to it about dropping Ragnarok completely from the divine constellation."

"Hmmp," Martial Will said with a snort. "I hate how the Will of the world likes you and treats you differently."

"If you had set up an array to help the world grow quickly, maybe it would like you too," Tepid Scholar said smugly.

Martial Will glared at him for a while before saying, "Forget it. I hate that Ragnarok even more now anyway."

"Not only did he make the Blessed Heaven World delay its ascension, but he also made it impossible to cut him off from the decision-making process. For some reason, he reminds me more and more of Black Chain."

This statement made Harem King snort and laugh out loud, saying, "Hahaha. So hilarious."
