Chapter 1189: The Oath To Kill.
Black Chain’s heart sank when he heard the entity who was supposed to be the strongest in the lower realm complaining about how difficult Ragnarok was being. He became anxious and immediately asked, "What do you want me to do?"
"Preferably, I want you to descend to help me kill him. But I don’t think you’ll want to do that. So you should lend me your Enslavement Supreme Metac. I will handle the rest."
Black Chain was eager to take action, but he suddenly remembered something that made him frown. As he frowned, he said, "Why don’t you borrow the Supreme Metac of the other Dao Lords?"
"There are many other Supreme Metacs available for borrowing. Why must you borrow mine?"
"Fine. You got me," the Will of the World said. "I admit that I have ulterior motives. I want to enslave him?"
When Black Chain heard this, a blast of inspiration went through his mind. His eyes widened in shock as he said, "How could I have been so blind?"
"How could I have been so short-sighted? Of course, killing him would be immensely pleasurable, but it won’t bring any benefit other than that. What I should do is enslave him."
"Then even if I can’t become a Mountain Lord myself, I will have control over a Mountain Lord. How grand is that?"
"Even if I can’t enslave his true body through his avatar, I will still have control over a Cosmic Dao. That’s still worth it."
After making up his mind, he said to Will of the World, "Don’t worry. I will descend and join you in the fight."
But the Will of the World frowned and said, "I don’t need you to descend. Just send over your Supreme Metac and let me handle this."
"No, no, no. How can I let you fight alone in your time of need?" Black Chain said stubbornly. "I insist."
Before the Will of the World could reject his assistance again, he sent down an avatar.
The avatar was the white monkey. It was the only avatar he had left, at least on the surface.
The white monkey walked over to where Loki’s avatar was being bombarded and said smugly, "You probably didn’t think such a day would come."
"To be fair, I didn’t think this kind of outcome could happen either. My best dream had been to kill your avatar. So we are both being treated to a surprise by fate."
"Oh, but I knew that this kind of thing could happen," Loki said with a smile. "I am not that foolish as to send down my avatar without expecting some ambush."
Instead of panicking, he was smiling. This was not a normal reaction to the current situation.
"You knew that there was danger, yet you still sent your avatar?" Black Chain asked with a sneer. "So you’re more foolish than I expected."
He patted his chest with pride and said, "I am the predator here."
"You are nothing but a lamb about to be slaughtered," he said, pointing at Loki.
When Loki still refused to show fear, he decided to end this. He activated the Enslavement Supreme Metac, producing a black chain that he sent towards Loki.
"That’s good enough," Loki said.
As soon as he spoke, the force of the world pressing down on him disappeared. In the next moment, the same force pressed down on Black Chain.
"What is going on?" Black Chain said in surprise.
The Will of the World laughed in anger as it replied, saying, "You have some nerve, Black Chain. You tried to enslave me for so long, and yet you dared to show your avatar before me."
"But we’re partners. You swore an oath, and you said you hated Ragnarok the most. Was that all a lie?" Black Chain asked.
"Oh, the oath was very real. I swore to kill Ragnarok’s avatar as long as I can fight him. But I can’t fight him because I already swore an oath not to fight him until I ascend, when I bought the Death Supreme Metac. So I didn’t break any oath," the Will of the World said smugly.
Still unwilling to believe what was happening, "Wait a minute. Wasn’t the oath you made for the transaction about how you couldn’t remove his Supreme Metac for the divine constellation?"
"There was one more. I lied," the Will said, cackling in anticipation.
At this point, Black Chain’s heart was full of despair as he said, "So what was all that fighting all along?"
Loki replied, "It was all pretending."
"We put on a show for you. I hope you enjoyed it," Loki said with a smile.
Then he held his chest and screamed in pain, saying, "Noooooooo!"
"My chest. How it hurts!"
His acting was bad enough that no one would believe him even if the ploy hadn’t been exposed. But now that it was clear that the whole fight was a sham, this scream of his was just an insult.
Black Chain didn’t think it was funny, but Loki thought it was funny. He especially liked the part where lightning fell from the sky and struck Black Chain.
He liked it so much that he burst out laughing, "Ahahahaha.
After laughing to his heart’s content, he said, "But seriously, I have to ask. Why did you think it was a good idea to come yourself?"
"I mean, even if your partnership with the Will of the World was real, what was going to stop the world from trying to kill you too?"
Black Chain didn’t answer, but he didn’t mind. He chuckled and said with a teasing smile, "And you called me rash earlier. Who is the rash one now?"
"My original plan was to have you lend the Will of the World so that I could devour it. But you got greedy and decided to enslave me. You truly have grand ambitions."
As he watched Black Chain’s avatar get beaten to a charred mess, most of the frustration he felt about the Olympic Sect being slandered evaporated and disappeared.
