Chapter 1198: Converting Mortals Into Divine Beings.

The existence of so many Cosmic Daos at his disposal and their capabilities tantalized him, making him unable to look away from them and pick a Grand Dao for his second star.

’It is truly an agonizing problem having too many good options. The best of both worlds would be if I could upgrade the Transformation Supreme Metac into a Cosmic Dao. That way I can have my cake and eat it,’ he said with eyes glowing brightly with greed.

But then the feverish light in his eyes dimmed as he thought, ’Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to upgrade any Grand Dao into a Cosmic Dao. The only successful options were the Freedom Supreme Metac and the Devouring Supreme Metac.’

’What makes those two special anyway?’ he thought in confusion.

This wasn’t the first time he’d asked himself that question. But like the many times before, he couldn’t figure out an answer.

The only hint he had was that the Devouring Supreme Metac and the Freedom Supreme Metac were related to the three Cosmic brothers, who all had three Cosmic Daos.

However, he didn’t know if that information was useful, and he had no other leads, so he stopped thinking about it. Instead, he focused on the project to turn mortals into divine beings.

In the short amount of time he spent on the project, he made a lot of progress. Most of it was failure, though. But it was progress nonetheless.

The first failure, which was a kind of success, was that he succeeded in making a Metac called the Divine Power Metac, which would allow every mortal to have a Cave Heaven, which they could use to enhance their power like divine beings.

This Divine Power Metac is actually an artifact similar in function to the divine artifacts of divine beings. This is why it can produce power with a Cave Heaven without being a divine being with a Divine Metac.

The first problem with it was that it needed a Divine Position to make, and a Divine Position cost 10,000 years of lifespan. That’s the weakest Rank 6 Divine Position, too.

The advantage of using a Divine Position to make it was that every mortal with this Divine Power Metac could easily become a divine being. But this advantage couldn’t overshadow its numerous problems.

Firstly, he was rich, but he couldn’t afford to equip hundreds of billions of people with Divine Positions. Even if he could afford it, doing so would defeat the purpose of recruiting disciples.

The second problem was that mortals were too weak to bear the power of the Divine Power Metac. According to his estimates, their bodies would shatter with a single attempt. This was because mortals lacked a divine body to channel the power of a Cave Heaven.

The third problem was that simply possessing the Divine Power Metac was enough to kill them. This time, it was because the Divine Power Metac was too heavy. It was as heavy as a small mountain, making it nearly certain that it would crush the Energy Well and the body of the mortal.

Divine beings didn’t have this problem because their Energy Well had become a Cave Heaven. So trying to fit a Cave Heaven into an Energy Well looked like a great way to crush the Energy Well.

The fourth problem was that the Divine Power Metac was technically a Rank 6, and even though he made it so that it could activate with life energy, not lifespan, it would still drain the mortal with a single use.

This made him scrap the idea and say, "I don’t want it anyway. It is too easy."

He felt that even if the Divine Power Metac could be manufactured cheaply in mass proportions and didn’t kill mortals upon use, it would be easy for other Dao Lords to copy and grant to their disciples, because it only required a Supreme Metac and the Divine Position Ability.

If other Dao Lords could copy the Divine Power Metac, it would void the reason he went through the effort to make it. So he decided to use another option, or at least solve the problems of the Divine Power Metac in a way that only he could solve.

He went with the first option and began racking his brain for a completely new solution.

’What else do divine beings do that mortals can’t do?’ he asked himself.

’Divine beings can heal any injury, including decapitation, by burning their lifespan. Even if I manage to do something like that, it will be a bad idea to help mortals by consuming their lifespan when I want that lifespan for myself.’

’It is good for me if they die early. So unless I can find a way for them to heal without using lifespan, I shouldn’t bother. If I can help them heal, they get to be happy without touching my precious lifespan.’

Then he shook his head, thinking, ’But it will still be bad to do it even if I can help them heal from decapitation without burning lifespan. After all, I still want them to die early.’

’Then I will still need to make sure that the method I use to heal them isn’t something that other Dao Lords can manage and copy. What a bother."

After going back and forth through many ideas, he realized he didn’t have any good ones. The problem was that his ideas either helped the mortals to live longer, which was a bad idea, or they could be copied by other Dao Lords, making them lose their uniqueness.

So he decided to go back to the idea of giving his mortal disciples the ability to empower themselves with a Cave Heaven. This meant he had to solve the four problems and had to do it in a way that other Dao Lords couldn’t copy.

’Hmm, for the first problem. What if I help them borrow my Domain Power? Wouldn’t that make the solution completely inexpensive?’ he asked himself excitedly.
