THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1230: Too Many Rules.

Chapter 1230: Too Many Rules.

Unfortunately, this attempt was a repeat of the first time. He failed and failed so spectacularly that the incomplete Supreme Metac collapsed just halfway into reinforcing its structure with commonality.

This made his eye twitch in annoyance, but he didn’t give up just yet. Since the Cosmic Dao and the Grand Dao were fish who refused to bite the bait, he decided to change his tactics. So he used the same rules and the Hunting Form Supreme Metac to make a Major Dao.

The attempt to make the Major Dao failed. But it failed in the same way the Grand Dao had failed, which was at the finish line, giving Loki sole hope.

The hope was tiny, but it was there as he began trying to make a Minor Dao with the new rules and the Hunting Form Metac.

While he was making this attempt, he gritted his teeth and said, "If this doesn’t work, I will roar and rage impotently against the world."

He felt that it would be unjust for the world to tease him with hope and then dash those hopes with every single attempt. Unfortunately, even if he was angry with the world, there was nothing useful he could do to make the world stop trying him unjustly.

He couldn’t even devour the upper realm, as the ground was too tough to build on, and there was no air or energy up here to eat. Only the lower realm had something soft and easy for him to eat.

He was thinking about how he would take out his anger on the lower realm as the Minor Dao was completed. When he saw the fruit of his labor, he smiled.

As he smiled, he said, "Wolf Tamer? Not bad. Not bad at all."

A Minor Dao was terribly beneath him. But when the alternative was complete failure with nothing to show for his effort, he had to smile and appreciate what the universe had given him.

"Let’s see what the other set of rules will get me," he said in anticipation.

Then he remembered that failure was commonplace in this kind of work, so he restrained his anticipation and said nonchalantly, "If I fail, I won’t mind."

Whether he truly believed it was yet to be seen. Only the outcome would determine whether he was as nonchalant as he appeared.

In this attempt, he decided to start from the lowest to the highest, so the Minor Dao would be the first. The set of rules he will also use will be tailored to achieving the goal of turning him into a wolf.

This set of rules is half of the first one he used. Since he split the first set of rules in half and got some success with the first half, he decided to see whether the second half was the problem and why the first set of rules failed.

He was being nonchalant as he extracted the commonality and began using it to construct the Minor Dao. Unfortunately, his nonchalance fell apart when he reached the finish line and the incomplete Supreme Metac didn’t collapse.

The Minor Dao formed and remained stable as he solidified it with lifespan. During the process, his lips tugged and tried to smile, but he fought them to maintain his false nonchalance.

When he saw the finished product, he lost the war to restrain his lips and smiled. Then he said, "The Wolf Race Supreme Metac. I should have known."

Just then, he realized something that made him say, "So the two sets of rules are correct for Minor Daos. What if I add them together?"

He felt as if he had touched upon a great truth, and his eyes shone with excitement. This time, he didn’t try to curb his excitement as he went to work because he didn’t think he needed to.

So far, he had confirmed that the two sets of rules worked well for Minor Daos. Therefore, he felt that success was confirmed by combining them to make another Minor Dao.

What he was uncertain about and looking forward to was the product of the combination of two correct sets of rules. His expectations were through the roof, making his eyes shine, and a smile crossed his face as he worked.

That smile withered on his face when he saw the incomplete Supreme Metac collapse before the finish line. Apparently, something was wrong with his rules.

"Maybe I made a mistake," he said as he tried it one more time.

He wasn’t a novice at this, and it was nearly impossible for him to make a mistake. But he hoped he had made a mistake, as it was more palatable.

Unfortunately, his wishes didn’t come to pass. The incomplete Supreme Metac collapsed a second time.

This made him say solemnly, "If two correct rules can make one incorrect set of rules when combined, then knowing a lot about Supreme Metacs like I do and using all of my knowledge to create more Supreme Metacs might not be a good thing."

This was the conclusion he came to when the first attempt failed. He tried to avoid it by hoping it was a mistake, but his wishes had no power over reality, and what was bound to happen happened once more.

The main impact of this conclusion was that the more he knew about Supreme Metacs, the lower his chance of making Supreme Metacs of different pathways would be. As bitter as this was, he could only soldier on.

"The best way to avoid using too many rules is to reduce how many rules I use. But who can say when I am using too many rules and when I am not using enough rules?" he asked himself as he sighed.

Since combining the rules didn’t work out, he returned to using the second set of rules to try every kind of Dao. The next one on the list was a Major Dao, and this time he was truly nonchalant about the outcome.
