Chapter 1317: Looking Wrong To A Dao Lord.

‘Secondly, I learned how to kill a lot of mortals indirectly. That can come handy in the future when I need to commit a lot of murder incognito.’

‘I also learned that even if I attack through a curse, as long as my attack targets anything in the lower realm, its power will be reduced. That’s a bummer.’

‘But I still have to find a way to kill worlds with the Seal of Death. Even if the power of my attack is reduced, it will still be a threat to worlds.’

“If I had such a method, the Blessed Heaven World might not have been able to pull off that trick and successfully ascend. At least, I would be able to attack every world without using my avatars,’ he thought, his eyes glinting sharply.

‘Anyway, what else can I combine with the Seal of Death? Can I combine the Rewind Metac with it to attack someone through time?’

‘It would be cool if I could use the Time Rewind to kill my enemies in the past too. It might cause the timeline to change and end, but at least I won’t have to attack Wandering Thief again like this.’

As he thought of more ingenious ways to use his power, something changed deep within his being. Deep within his being, in the darkness only he and Astra were aware of, the spark of power suddenly changed.

The spark of power suddenly changed, bringing with it memories of a future he had yet to experience.

This made him grin and say, ‘Loki 2, Wandering Thief 0. Who will win this time scuffle, I wonder?’

Just then, Wandering Thief sent him a message through the divine constellation of Thief’s Haven.

Wandering Thief said, “I noticed that you attacked and killed three disciples from my sect earlier. What is that about?”

“It was nothing,” Loki said nonchalantly.

But Wandering Thief didn’t buy it. He said in a solemn voice, “Have my disciples offended you in some way? Or have I offended you?”

“I said it was nothing,” Loki insisted. “Those three were just eyesores. Killing them has helped me to vent my anger, and I have forgotten about it.”

“What exactly did they do?” Wandering Thief asked, unwilling to give up on knowing Loki’s motive for attacking those mortals.

“I have checked their information through the divine constellation and saw that the three were normal mortals. I even checked their history as far back as ten years, but the three of them did nothing noteworthy.”

“Until today, they had nothing in common. In fact, the three of them belonged to different pathways of his sect and were in different places when they were killed.”

“If ordinary mortals like that can offend you enough to kill them, what’s to stop other mortals from offending you? So please, try to make me see how they were eyesores to you so that I can prevent this from happening again.”

“What can I say? They looked wrong to me?” Loki said nonchalantly. “Besides, I don’t have to explain myself to you.”

Hearing what Loki just said, Wandering Thief thought to himself, ‘I see. Since he can’t find a reasonable explanation for what he did, those three mortals must be related to how he attacked my three pathways.’

It was already suspicious that a Dao Lord would attack and kill some mortals. When he combined that suspicion with the fact that Loki had killed him twice in a row, he decided the two matters must be related.

‘The only thing I can’t confirm is how they are related. According to War Mongerer, the first time he attacked me, he kidnapped a mortal. Then a bunch of mortals died inexplicably in Thief’s Haven. It was after that mass death that I was attacked.’

‘I should tell War Mongerer about this. Maybe he can remember the mortals who died inexplicably. If he can identify them, we can try to see how they’re related to the mortal he kidnapped.’

But then he remembered something that confused him. In his confusion, he thought, ‘Be that as it may, there is something off about this. If Ragnarok is the one responsible for the attack, why didn’t he repeat what he did the first time and do it the second attack?’

‘Forget about Ragnarok. The anomaly is that the attacker didn’t use the same methods in both attacks. They also didn’t attack me at the same time?’

‘Why did the change occur? Did something delay the attacker the second time around, or was the attacker learning from the previous attacks?’

‘War Mongerer did say the second attack killed me faster than normal. But if the attacker is learning from an attack that never happened in their timeline, doesn’t that mean they are Time Lords too?’

‘And if Ragnarok is responsible for the attacks, does that mean he can remember a lost timeline? Is the third pathway he is hiding the Time Pathway? Is he the one who’s making time travel difficult for War Mongerer?’ he asked him, his brain spiraling.

While Wandering Thief was brainstorming, Loki was chuckling inwardly, thinking, ‘Why is he so serious? I only attacked him twice, and he is already hounding me?’

‘I must say, these guys are very impatient. But they are not bad detectives. I thought I would need to attack them one more time before they finally caught on.’

‘They should wait to see what I have in store with this third attack. When I attack the three of them at the same time, it will be game over.’

‘I could also combine the Time Rewind Metac with the attack to see if it will work. Anyway, I can bear to lose one round, so I can take the risk of it not working,’ he thought as his chuckling became more intense.

‘It seems I was right to say I could repeat what Black Chain did. Two attacks and they are already shaking in their boots. I’m so going to stomp on them. Let’s see who the true manipulator is between us.’
