THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1323: End Game.

Chapter 1323: End Game.

Upon seeing Nameless Fool being stubborn, Wandering Thief nodded and said, "The attack has actually been delayed more than usual. By this point in the previous timeline, we had been attacked four days ago."

"Maybe expanding my Domain discouraged the attacker. Maybe they were scared off by my strength. Or maybe they were scared off by Ragnarok’s reputation after seeing me work with him."

"It could also be that Ragnarok was responsible for the attack but has decided to spare us. So yes, you may be right that the Core Metacs are related to the attacks, but it is too early to tell."

"I don’t know if I want you to be right or not," War Mongerer said, shaking his head.

Wandering Thief said, "I don’t know what to think either. This whole situation seems so..."

A black force field erupted within him, interrupting him.

"Damn it," he roared in anger and frustration. "It is happening again."

His instincts told him to run away and put as much distance as possible between them as quickly as he could, but he wrestled with the option and instead decided to stay in place.

This time, War Mongerer and Nameless Fool didn’t extend their Divine Spirit into his body. But they still used other means to test their hypothesis.

War Mongerer watched the divine constellation as he shouted, "Do it now."

Upon receiving the go-ahead, Wandering Thief withdrew all four projections of his Supreme Metacs from the divine constellation. Then they watched to see what would happen.

"It is still there," Wandering Thief informed them, trying not to panic. "It is actually growing stronger too. And it is taking my lifespan."

Nameless Fool was a little bit disappointed by this outcome. Unwilling to give up, he activated the Main Divine Ability of the Name Supreme Metac.

He activated the Name Linking Divine Ability on the attack, trying to steal its power, while shouting, "Gemini."

He shouted a random name, not Ragnarok’s, but it still worked. The power of the Divine Ability smashed into the black force field, shaking it slightly. Then the black force field latched onto his Divine Spirit and jumped onto his godhead.

"I guess this might not be directly related to Ragnarok," he said, finally giving up. "It just bites anything that comes near it."

Just then, the black force field morphed, expanding and rising higher. Then its form rippled and shrunk as it became a black wolf. The black wolf had formed within their bodies, but it jumped out and leaped at War Mongerer.

While this was happening, Loki had already sent an avatar to Thief Haven to grab Core Metacs for him. He wanted to grab the Core Metacs for the Name Pathway and use them to curse Nameless Fool.

He didn’t expect that Nameless Fool would attract the curse again after getting burned by it once before. The plan was to get the Core Metac while they were busy dealing with the first attack, and then overwhelm them with another attack.

In fact, the avatar was already in Thief’s Haven before he initiated the first attack. So the avatar had grabbed the Core Metac and was seen doing so when the curse jumped onto Nameless Fool.

Since he was already halfway into the deed, he shrugged and thought, ’By the time I’m done, it will be like none of this ever happened.’

The avatar withdrew into the upper realm while the combination attack he created with the Seal of Death and Hunting Form Metac was targeting Time Traveler.

This attack’s power output was much weaker than combining the Devouring Divine Ability with the Seal of Death. It was 49.7% weaker, but it had the advantage of converting the curse into a black wolf.

Unlike the black force field, the black wolf could be controlled remotely and used to attack any enemy he chose. He used the black wolf to kill War Mongerer for obvious reasons.

"Ragnarok took the Core Metacs," Nameless Fool said, joyful. "I was right. I knew I was right."

He was dying, but he didn’t care. Instead, he was jubilant as if he had won the lottery.

But Wandering Thief and War Mongerer couldn’t share in his joy. Especially War Mongerer, who was about to meet the messenger of death.

Seeing the large wolf rushing at him, War Mongerer activated the Time Loop Supreme Metac without hesitation. The Time Loop Supreme Metac immediately separated from him and shot backward into time.

He was in the same spatial spot, but his temporal coordinates were changing rapidly. At least, that was supposed to happen.

Instead, a powerful force gripped him and stopped him in his tracks. The source of the force was invisible but nearby. It held him as if to snuff the life out of him.

But then the force let him go, allowing him to resume his journey through time. Unfortunately, another force entered the scene and stalled his journey once more.

This time, the force interfering with his travel wasn’t acting on him directly. Instead, the force acted like a tether, anchoring the current timeline to existence.

The source was a distant entity that would be affected by his time travel and the timeline’s subsequent loss. Apparently, this entity was powerful enough to sense his attempt to change the timeline and resist it.

The good news was that he could overcome this tether. The bad news was that it would consume a lot of energy.

As it turned out, he didn’t have much energy. So he said, "I might be screwed."

On the other side, Loki held on to the four Core Metacs in his inner world and refused to let them go. The Core Metacs were in his inner world. They were becoming faint, about to disappear. But he held on to them with Divine Spirit and burned through his lifespan to keep them.

War Mongerer was trying to do what Loki once did to Tepid Scholar and other Dao Lords with the Time Loop Supreme Metac. The problem was that Loki wasn’t as helpless as Tepid Scholar.
