Chapter 1343: Cultivation System Vs Pathways.

As secondary goals, he hoped to create a cultivation system everyone could use, and that would benefit him when they did. The last condition mattered most.

If the increase in the popularity of his cultivation system wouldn’t make him stronger, the cultivation system had to be something no one could copy. He would rather not use it and stick with the Root of Life than risk losing his advantage by letting everyone use his new cultivation system.

He knew that he was being overly ambitious with the cultivation system, but he didn’t have anything else to do. Plus, he had a clone who had nothing else to do aside from enslaving him, tracking him, and spying on his thoughts.

Since white Loki was available for us, he felt it would be a shame to waste the free labor. So even if the pursuit of the superior cultivation system turned into a wild-goose chase and a waste of time, he would only be wasting free manpower.

The two clones separated and went their separate ways. They worked on different things and were very busy, but they still took time to go down to the Blessed Heaven World to kidnap avatars and auction them.

Unfortunately, his usual scheme didn’t work because the Blessed Heaven World’s Will was free. The Will of the World was free and hated Black Chain, so the Dao Lord of the Four Directions Sect didn’t dare send his avatar into the Blessed Heaven World, no matter how much he wanted to kill him.

Since Black Chain refused to descend, the other Dao Lords had no reason to descend en masse either. Even Dao Lords like Heavenly Eye, who were very interested in killing Loki, didn’t dare descend for fear that Tepid Scholar would ambush her with the Will of the World.

Seeing this, he thought, ’It must be that Wandering Thief.’

’He must have used a method to find them. Then he took them without anyone noticing, or with Heavenly Eye’s help.’

Without avatars to kidnap and sell back to the highest bidders, he had nothing to show for his trip except the incomplete artifact, making him unsatisfied. Now that Golden Sun and Time Traveler were also gone, his dissatisfaction was turning into unwillingness.

’Should I go and take some of the things Heavenly Eye is hiding?’ he asked himself.

But he shook his head and thought, ’Not yet. Let’s wait until I can take her before I turn on her.’

He was unwilling, but he still left, and his avatar returned to the divine constellation. However, he promised to fix the problems he had just encountered the next time he reversed time.

So he intended to limit his use of his power the next time he ascended. That way, he would have enough power to kill Golden Sun and Time Traveler. He also wouldn’t damage the Central Domain so much that the Will of the World would use it as an opportunity to escape.

He thought about this and other ways he could earn celestial gold in this timeline to offset the loss of the auction as White Loki asked the Matrix, "What is the difference between a cultivation system and a pathway?"

The Matrix said, "A cultivation system is a way to raise your state of existence. It is a method to better yourself and may or may not require a pathway. The power you gain from a cultivation system is usually innate."

"On the other hand, a pathway is purely an external source of power. In most cases, you need to have a certain level of cultivation because you can access the power of a pathway."

"The best way to describe the relationship between the two is the relationship between a plant and the sun. In this analogy, the plant is the cultivator and the sun is the source of the pathway."

"In that case, the light from the sun is the power from the pathway; the way the plant uses the light is a part of the cultivation system, and the level of growth of the plant from seed to seedling, sapling, adult tree, and ancient tree are stages of cultivation."

"If there were multiple suns in the sky for the plant to harvest light from, then it could be said that the plant has multiple pathways to choose from."

"But take note that light isn’t the only thing the plant needs for growth. It also needs water and other nutrients. In the same way, a pathway isn’t everything needed for a complete cultivation system. And as the plant can use the same cultivation system for different suns, so can a cultivation system be used for different pathways."

"Is there anything comparable to using Metacs as the foundation of the cultivation system?" he asked, his expectations high.

"No," the Matrix said, dashing his hopes. "Metacs are the bare and most efficient way to connect to the Dao."

"They are packets of instructions that can initiate changes in the world. They are created with the very language of the world, making them the most efficient and direct way to communicate with the world."

Then it crushed any remnant of his hope by saying, "There are many ways to use the power of a Pathway, but those methods have all been banned in territories belonging to the Gemini race."
