THE GOD EATER

Chapter 898: Difficult Mountain.

Chapter 898: Difficult Mountain.

Because of the unresponsive behavior of the golden mountain, he began to panic. His panic showed in his voice as he said, "What the hell is going on? In what world can I not destroy my Cave Heaven? Since when id my will become insufficient to destroy my Cave Heaven?"

He had destroyed his Cave Heaven many times in the past, and he had even seen others destroy their Cave Heaven. It was a normal thing for a divine being to be able to destroy their Cave Heaven. So he was shaken to realize that he seemed to have lost that privilege.

In his bid to escape, he decided to cut off the link between him and the golden mountain. So he turned his attention to the black veins and will them to be destroyed. He also used the power of the Supreme Metacs to destroy them.

This time, there was some movement. He couldn’t destroy them with a thought, but the Supreme Metacs had some success in eroding them.

Unfortunately, the progress of eroding the black veins was slow. What’s more, the black veins could regenerate.

Anytime he destroyed a vein, a nearby vein would split and create a new branch to take over the job of the vein he just destroyed. The entire thing was like trying to kill a hydra that could regrow two heads for each head that he cuts off. So it would take a long time before he could sever the connection between him and the golden mountain.

In his frustration, he roared, saying, ’Ahhhhhhhh.’

He was angry, and his anger was immense because he could perceive the surface of the black river churning. It felt as if something had entered the river of death.

At first, he thought that it was an illusion. After all, he shouldn’t have been able to sense anything in the River of Death.

All around him, there was pitch-black darkness and absolute silence. This was because neither light nor sound could be transmitted in the River of Death. So it was very abnormal that he heard a big splash above him.

Fortunately, he had the Danger Sense Metac with him. Because of the Danger Sense Metac, he could perceive that whatever had entered the black river was real, very dangerous, and was coming for him.

Thanks to the Danger Sense Metac, he didn’t dismiss the sound he heard as an illusion. He also swam deeper into the river of death to get away from whatever large object had trespassed into the river.

Meanwhile, he was still trying to get rid of the mountain. The next thing he tried was the Devouring Ability.

He covered the golden mountain with the black force field and used it to destroy the golden mountain. The golden mountain was his, so it should have been easy to devour. But the golden mountain actually resisted the Devouring Ability.

The golden mountain shone brightly as it produced a force that repelled the black devouring force field. As it resisted, it consumed his lifespan.

Loki’s face froze over when he saw this. Then he said with immense disbelief, "You’ve got to be kidding me."

But then he became angry, so he raised his voice and said, "Who is the boss here? Is it you or me?"

He asked that question in anger, but it was by no means an impulsive question of no relevance. He had to ask that question, and the fact that he had to meant that something was wrong somewhere.

Whatever is wrong could be fixed if he were still in charge. But if the golden mountain has its own will and could make decisions for itself that affect him, then whatever the issue is might be the end of him.

Fortunately, he was still able to cut off the supply of lifespan into the golden mountain. When he did, the mountain didn’t try to forcefully steal lifespan from him. It just dimmed as its power fell.

Without lifespan to spend, the golden mountain couldn’t resist. So the black force field was finally able to devour it.

The black force field covered the golden mountain in a cocoon of darkness. It shrank the mountain down into a fist-sized rock. Then it withdrew with the mountain into the Divine Spark.

As soon as the golden mountain was devoured, he sighed in relief and said, "Finally, I can leave."

Without the golden mountain holding him down, he was finally able to escape into the River of Time. He didn’t waste time in taking advantage of this hard-fought opportunity at all. His Divine Spark rushed into the River of Time and began swimming uphill to the past.

Behind him, his body was finally caught by something. What caught him crushed his body like one crushing an egg. Unfortunately for them, no yolk came out of him.

After he was crushed, nothing came out of him. He was just a husk, and there was no golden mountain in sight.

They didn’t give up, though. The Dao Lords continued to search the river of death for that illustrious artifact that caught a glimpse of.

As for Loki, he was moving through the River of Time, running for his life. Now that he was free, he felt that he could finally relax and indulge himself in thinking about what just happened.

When he remembered how dangerous the situation had been, he said, "Those had to be Dao Lords. But how did they know I was in the River of Time?"

"And why did they want to kill me so badly that many of them took action and entered the River of Death to kill me? Are the lives of two rank 8 cultivators that important?"

"Or did they come for Time Traveler? Maybe they sensed Time Traveler and came to get rid of him."

The more he thought about this possibility, the more reasonable it seemed. He just didn’t think he had done anything worthy of so much of their enthusiasm.
