Chapter 947: No More Dao Lords.
Chapter 947: No More Dao Lords.
The black monkey was gone. All that was left of it was a black wind.
The Death Supreme Metac was mostly invisible. Only a portion of it could be seen and touched. This tangible portion was the black wind. So the Death Supreme Metac was much bigger than what it appeared to be.
The black wind flew away from Loki and escaped him. But Loki had already activated the Seal Ability on it. The Seal Ability covered the black wind with a thick layer of force that restricted it. Then he activated the Devouring Ability for good measure.
The Devouring Ability removed the remnant will inside the black wind. This turned the black wind into a docile ball of air.
Loki extended his hand towards the black wind and grasped it tightly. His will moved, and the black wind was absorbed into his body. From his Cave Heaven, it went into his Divine Spark and his spark of power.
As information about the Death Supreme Metac rushed into his mind, he suppressed the information to digest at a later date. With the loot successfully secured, he decided to move on to the next step.
He raised his head and looked up at the sky at the Dao Lords. Then he said, "It is time I get paid for the services I’ve rendered."
"I’ve done my part. Two avatars of Lord Black Chains have been dispatched. So I should be paid. Or do you not think I deserve it?"
Tepid Scholar said, "You deserve it. You were instrumental in our victory."
No one asked him for his opinion, but Black Chains didn’t hesitate to give it. He sneered at Tepid Scholar and said, "Have you gone senile? Or don’t you think this dragon is too dangerous already? He can’t be allowed to become a Dao Lord. I’ve decreed it."
Tepid Scholar didn’t hold back and said in disdain, "You’ve fallen in strength. Your decree means nothing now."
It was true that he couldn’t force people to go along with his plan with strength anymore. Black Chains didn’t give up just yet.
He said, "You’re smart, so you should know that I didn’t limit the number of Dao Lords for selfish reasons. A new Dao Lord could destabilize everything we have. It could turn the whole Sea of Worlds upside down."
In response, Tepid Scholar said, "It is just one more Dao Lord. With him, we will be nine. The limit is ten. As long as we don’t reach ten, we have nothing to fear."
Black Chains was not satisfied with this, but he knew that complaining about it wouldn’t do any good. So he said in anger, Fine. Have it your way. When this goes badly, don’t say I didn’t warn everyone."
Inwardly, he thought to himself in vengeance, ’Since you want to disregard stability, I will help you. I will also help another Dao Lord to appear. Once we have ten Dao Lords, I want to see what you will do.’
Then he smiled sinisterly to himself, thinking, ’If I can’t have it to myself, then no one will have it.’
While Black Chains had given up on convincing Tepid Scholar and was busy scheming to turn the entire Sea of Worlds upside down, Martial Will hadn’t given up yet.
The Dao Lord of Martial Body Sect said to Tepid Scholar, "I think Black Chains has a point. We should at least become complete Dao Lords before we risk adding another Dao Lord to our midst."
He also said to Heavenly Eye, "You’re the one who made the deal with him, right? If I remember correctly, you didn’t state a particular time to pay for his contributions. So you can delay for a thousand years."
"Let’s use that time to discuss and plan. Who knows, a better option might appear in the future. And the dragon can even die of natural causes. We can..."
Tepid Scholar cut him off, saying, "Do you think we will be able to help the Blessed Heaven World ascend with the dragon still frolicking about in the Sea of Worlds?"
"What do you plan to do if the dragon interfered with the ascension? Or are we to wait for the dragon to die of natural causes before we can help the Blessed Heaven World ascend?"
This series of questions stumped Martial Will into silence. As he racked his brain looking for answers to them, he realized that the Sea of Worlds had changed.
So he didn’t argue anymore when Tepid Scholar said, "The Sea of Worlds is no longer under our control."
Instead, Martial Will nodded and said, "He must ascend and become like us. That way, he will be limited in his ability to interfere with the Sea of Worlds."
His words made Tepid Scholar chuckle and say, "Exactly. In fact, I believe we should start the ascension of the Blessed Heaven World while he is ascending. That way, he will be too busy to interfere with our business."
Meanwhile, Heavenly Eye was listening to their argument with faint detachment. She didn’t think the outcome of their argument was important because she had already made up her mind.
Her mind was made up right from the moment she made the promise to Loki and swore to fulfill the promise. And just as she expected, nothing the two of them said could affect her decision.
Since they were done arguing, she said to Loki, "According to the promise, I would tell you how to advance if you held Black Chains back until one of his avatars was killed."
"If two avatars were killed, I would give the materials you need to advance. And if three avatars met their demise because of you, I would act directly to make sure you complete your ascension successfully. Isn’t that right?"
Loki replied, saying, "That is correct."
He hadn’t heard any of their discussions when they were arguing earlier. Their discussions had also occurred for a brief period of 100 milliseconds. So from his perspective, he asked a question, Tepid Scholar replied, and then there was a brief pause before Heavenly Eye spoke.
