Chapter 957: The Weight Of Words.

In his confusion, Monarch Truth and False asked, "What’s a divine crystal?"

Loki replied sternly, "You don’t need to know."

Instead of protesting, Monarch Truth and False nodded in understanding and became silent. He didn’t say anything, and Loki didn’t speak either. The two of them stood in the air watching each other and waiting for something.

Four seconds later, Monarch Truth and False received a message from the sect. As soon as he read the message, he said to Loki, "My Dao Lord said that they can give you a divine crystal, but a bunch of rank 8 weeds are not worth a divine crystal."

"According to their words, even a rank 9 being is not worth her divine crystal. So you will have to offer more for the divine crystal."

Loki nodded in understanding before saying, "What if I say I can kill one or more avatars belonging to the Dao Lord of the Four Directions Sect?"

The impact of his words struck Monarch Truth and False and made the seer wobble in the air. The body of the rank 8 seer, which was strong enough to pierce through a large world from end to end, looked sickly as if it could be blown away by the wind at any moment.

Monarch Truth and False almost didn’t believe what he just heard. He didn’t question what he heard, though. He didn’t consider that he misheard because Loki’s words had been projected directly into his mind.

So he heard those words loud and clear as he could hear the heartbeat of a mortal. He just didn’t want to believe what he just heard because the repercussions could cost him his life.

In fact, the reason his figure had wobbled in the air was that he had wanted to run away. His first instinct after hearing such blasphemous words was to hightail it out of here. But he also knew that he couldn’t leave without permission from his Dao Lord, so he stayed.

The battle between self-preservation and duty was why his figure shook with indecision. At the end of the day, he chose to stay, but he wasn’t happy about it.

Inwardly, he groaned as he thought, ’What have I gotten myself into this time around? I knew that this trip was unlikely to be good for my health, but this is taking it too far.’

’This is a Dao Lord we’re talking about. And he wants to kill the avatar of one of them. That avatar has to be at least rank 9. Is the dragon ignorant, or does this mean it is at rank 9 too?’

’I am so screwed. Fortunately, our communication is between us and not with the divine constellation, or our plan to kill a Dao Lord’s avatar wouldn’t be a secret to the Dao Lords.’

He tried to be brave, but his emotions remained turbulent for a few seconds more. In that time, he didn’t say anything to Loki. Fortunately, he didn’t need to say anything as it wasn’t his place to speak about Loki’s offer.

While he was wrestling with his emotions, he sent Loki’s offer as a message to the Supreme Metac in the Seer Pathway through his Divine Position. Two seconds later, he received a reply.

As he read through the reply, his heart began to beat faster. It was beating as if it was trying to explode out of his chest and run away from this place alone since he was too stupid to do what was good for him.

He didn’t have a heart, but his Life Fire was behaving like one. His Life Fire was blowing back and forth as if it was trying to extinguish itself.

To be fair, his emotions weren’t exactly his fault. The messages from the Dao Lord were actually too heavy for him to withstand.

The words of a Dao Lord are not spoken lightly. The Dao Lords can speak their words without any care in the world, but whoever hears their words has to bear the burden.

In this case, Monarch Truth and False had to bear the burden of communicating with a Dao Lord. He isn’t enjoying it at all. Every word he heard struck his mind like a hammer and made his Cave Heaven shake from the impact.

It was torture to his mind. He wanted all of it to end as soon as possible, but he had a job to do, so he gritted his teeth and soldiered on.

As his head pounded in his skull, he gritted his teeth and said to Loki, "The Dao Lord said they like your offer. But they said that you have to kill a single avatar with a Cosmic Dao and another one with a Grand Dao or three avatars with a Grand Dao before they can give you a divine crystal."

Now it was Loki’s turn to be confused. He racked his brain to see if he had any information about it. Unfortunately, he couldn’t remember any time he heard of it.

So he said to Monarch Truth and False, "What is a Cosmic Dao and a Grand Dao?"

A few seconds later, Monarch Truth and False said, "A Cosmic Dao is a pathway with a Supreme Metac that can reach 81 units in size. A Grand Dao is a Supreme Metac that can reach 49 units in size."

"In the current Sea of Worlds, there is only one Cosmic Dao. It is the Death Pathway. This pathway belongs to the Dao Lord of the Four Directions Sect."

"I can’t say his name right now to protect my rank 8 servant’s mind. If I say his name, this poor fool’s mind will explode. Names carry power after all."

"Now back to the matter of which avatar to kill. The Dao Lord of the Four Directions Sect has one Cosmic Dao, three Grand Daos, and one Major Dao. In order, they are the Death Pathway, Enslavement Pathway, Money Pathway, Forging Pathway, and the Mind Hunter Pathway."
