Chapter 967: Be Reasonable

The monkey growled at him as it said, "Don’t patronize me, Time Traveler. The fact that I failed to overcome your power for so long proves that I won’t be able to escape now if I tried. If you’re looking forward to me making a fool of myself, you will be very disapointed."

Loki chuckled and said, "Is that so?"

Then he shrugged, saying, "Suit yourself. Anyway, what do you plan to do now? Will you resist in futility and watch me kill you, or will you give up now and save me the trouble like a reasonable person?"

Before Black Chains could reply, Loki urged him, "Please, be reasonable. Please be reasonable. I have a lot to do today."

Black Chains nodded and said, "I also want to be reasonable. Which is why I want to make a deal with you."

Loki’s eyes lit up as he said, "Oooh. It seems I’ve reached the jackpot. What do you have to offer me that could be better than a Supreme Metac?"

Black Chains replied with some hesitation, "What about an alliance with the strongest Dao Lord?"

Loki asked in confusion, "Who is the strongest Dao Lord? Where can I meet them?"

In response to his words, the monkey pretended to laugh, saying, "Ha ha. Ha ha. Ha ha. Good one."

It was laughter that rang hollow. Plus, his tone was full of sarcasm, so Loki couldn’t appreciate his compliment.

After pretending to laugh, he said, "I am very serious with my offer. If you let me go, I promise to work together as your partner and rule the Sea of Worlds together with you."

Loki looked at him for a while to see if he was serious or making another bad joke. When he didn’t see any signs of a joke, he asked, saying, "Is that all?"

The monkey’s face fell as it said in reply, "What more do you want? With my help you could have anything in the Sea of Worlds and the third heaven beyond it."

Loki nodded and said, "To be honest with you, I’m a little tempted. Unfortunately, it is only a little. I’ve already made a deal with a certain someone to kill you."

"I am a man of my word, so I must go through with my deal to kill you first. If there is anything left of you when I’m done, I will make a deal with you."

As he said this, the information about the deal he was talking about and who he made it with flashed through his mind. Seeing this information, Black Chains immediately became incensed.

Up in the sky, Black Chain turned his gaze to Heavenly Eye. The gaze he used was icy and cold enough to freeze a mortal to death.

With his icy glare, he said, "So that’s what you’ve been up to. You’re behind all of this. Well played. Well played."

Heavenly Eye said somewhat awkwardly, "I would like to take credit for this whole thing. But will you believe me if I say I had nothing to do with how things have turned out?"

Black Chains replied succinctly, "No."

Heavenly Eye nodded and said, "Fair enough. In that case, I did it. What about it?"

Black Chains replied venomously, "I hope for your sake that I do not get out of this because if I do, I will make life a living hell for you. I swear it on my Dao, Dao Heart, and all that is sacred."

Down below, Black Chains said to Loki, "Don’t be rash."

The tone of his voice was calm as he said, "I know that you’re still angry for the defeat you suffered at my hands that time. But if you look past your hatred, you stand to gain power. I have treasures that I could share with you."

"I am still tempted," Loki said with a pitiful tone. "But again, I have an obligation I must fulfill."

Heavenly Eye also chose this moment to say to Loki, "You’ve gone this far, so you must kill him. You have to kill him, or you will regret it."

Loki nodded in understanding and said, "I’ll do what I promised. Please, prepare the goods."

By this point, Black Chains had had enough. Since Loki’s mind seemed to be made up, he realized that he was only wasting his time.

So he shouted at Loki, "Fuck you, Time Traveler. I curse you. You will die just like me someday."

"Do you think you’re unstoppable? Do you think you have nothing to fear when you get rid of me? You’re wrong. You’re very wrong."

"I am important to the Sea of Worlds. Without me, there will be chaos and anarchy. I’ve brought order to this dying domain and bought us more time to save ourselves."

He continued to curse, but Loki interrupted him.

"Wait a minute. What do you mean by dying domain? Is that literal or figurative?"

Black Chains also said, "Wait a minute! You’re not the Time Traveler. Who are you?"

Loki said sternly, "I asked first, so you should answer my question first."

In response, the monkey sneered and said, "Will you let me go if I answer your questions?"

Loki replied, saying, "No."

Just as he said that, the space he had been attacking with the Blade of Time Metac earlier before the Dao Lords descended with their avatars began to ripple.

Space rippled, producing tiny, shallow waves like the surface of a pond as an invisible sphere appeared. The sphere was invisible in itself, but its existence created contours in the fabric of space, which helped to outline its existence and expose it.

The rippling in space got bigger and bigger until a layer of illusion was peeled away, revealing the true form of the invisible sphere. The invisible sphere was actually a Cave Heaven.

Most of the Cave Heaven was hiding in the second dimension. But a portion of its power and existence was being projected into the first dimension.
