Chapter 968: Trying Diplomacy.

The projected portion of the Cave Heaven was clear, while the rest of the Cave Heaven was a vague shadow. Then a gap opened in the projected part of the Cave Heaven, revealing a scene of a world made of broken glass.

A golden star appeared from the gap in the Cave Heaven and said to Loki, "What about me? Will you let me go if I answer your questions?"

Loki’s gaze was full of surprise at the sudden willing appearance of Golden Sun. But when he heard the question, he recovered his senses and said, "Yes. In fact, I am willing to work with you and help you to reincarnate if you answer my questions."

Golden Sun nodded and said, "I guess you want cooperation right now. I wonder if you killed me in the other timelines. You have the Time Pathway after all. Who is to say you can’t reverse time and make it so that none of this ever happened?"

The series of questions made Loki chuckle and say, "I’m not surprised that you’re so well informed on the Time Pathway. I hear you had a brother who was very good with the Time Pathway."

Golden Sun said, "You didn’t deny my claim. You didn’t even address it. That should mean that I was right."

"You should have killed me several times in the past. It seems you failed to get what you want from me with force, so you decided to try diplomacy."

Loki shook his head and said, "Don’t overthink this. Focus on this moment and how we can help each other."

But Golden Sun insisted, saying, "I have to overthink this. After all, you can manipulate time. I know how that kind of power can get into your head and make you think you’re unstoppable."

"My brother learned the hard way that nothing is free and power comes at a cost. He learned too late that the greater the power, the greater the cost. I hope you won’t fall into the same trap of thinking you’re omnipotent, or it will be too late for you when you realize that there are stronger people in the universe."

In response, Loki laughed and said, "That might be true. I might actually be full of myself. But I try to be humble and cautious, but there have been times I caught myself doing something stupid because I underestimated the danger."

Besides him, Black Chains looked at the star that had just appeared in surprise as he said, "Golden Sun? You’re still alive?"

Golden Sun finally turned to him and said, "Black Chains. We meet again. How unfortunate to see you fallen so low."

The look of surprise on the monkey’s face immediately disappeared and turned to one of anger as the monkey said in mockery, "I have fallen low? Look at you. You’re just a ghost of your former self. You dare to show yourself to me and say that I’ve fallen low? I could even kill you with a sliver of my power right now."

Golden Sun smiled as he said in reply, "I sensed that my greatest threat would be no more soon. So I came out to see it happen. It looks like I made the right decision."

The monkey sneered and said, "You rat. Your days are numbered. No one will let go of someone with a Cosmic Dao. You survived as a shell of your former self because of me. In time, you will do so for someone else, if you even have a shell left to survive with."

He continued to mock Golden Sun, but the fallen Dao Lord of the Luck Pathway ignored him and tuned out his voice.

Then Golden Sun said to Loki, "He is right to resist, though. Don’t let his pitiful appearance fool you. He won’t give up even though this is hopeless simply because he knows that you have the Rewind Metac and this might not be the end of him."

"He will fight you to the death here and force you to take up a lot of Entropy in hopes that a version of his in another timeline will be able to take you down. Then he will try to force you to reverse time, thereby carrying the burden of Entropy into the past. That is how my brother lost."

He sighed as he said, "My brother defeated Black Chains many times. But he was too ambitious for his own good. This reality that you see is what happened when Black Chains defeated him once."

"You have all of this power, and you think you can do anything you set your sight to. With your power, it is not a problem to defeat Black Chains now. It shouldn’t be a problem to defeat Black Chains another two more times. But how many times can you repeat your victory?"

"All Black Chains need to win is to defeat you once. If you’re also struck by a terrible bout of bad luck like we were, once you’re defeated once, you’re defeated forever."

While Golden Sun was talking to Loki and Black Chains was cursing them, the Dao Lords in the sky were glaring at Heavenly Eye.

Just earlier, Black Chains had glared at Heavenly Eye. But this time, everyone was glaring at her.

"How dare you?" Black Chains said through gritted teeth.

He was so angry he wanted to tear her apart to vent his anger. Barring that, he wanted to roar at her in anger.

But he had just roared at her recently, so doing it again would ring hollow. So he could only grit his teeth and try to calm his boiling anger lest he explode.

In response, Heavenly Eye ignored him and said to the other Dao Lords, whose opinion she cared about for the moment, "Wait a minute. Before you accuse me, let me ask. Would you believe it if I told you that this wasn’t my fault?"

Martial Will, with anger in his eyes, immediately said, "No."

Tepid Scholar, still trying to be calm and reasonable, said, "Did you know that he was there and that you were hiding him?"
