Chapter 983: The Fall.
Chapter 983: The Fall.
The more he heard, the angrier Tepid Scholar became and the more his face fell.
Even though she had a point, he absolutely refused to be swindled like this. So he didn’t back down and accept her extortion just like that. He began arguing with her, hoping to use the power of logic to overpower her unreasonableness.
While the two Dao Lords were negotiating, the dragon picked up the black wind that the black monkey had left after its death. Then he walked over to the last monkey.
The last monkey was a white monkey. It wasn’t grayish like the silver monkey. It was white and without blemish.
The Dao Lords watching from above saw the dragon walk over to the white monkey next. With their hearts in their throats and the world frozen over as if to witness this scene, the dragon laid his hand on the white monkey.
An invisible power enveloped the white monkey and began ravaging it with the power of time. In a flash of white light, the white monkey began fragmenting.
There was no resistance whatsoever from the white monkey. There was only a stoic face and eyes full of defiance in the face of death.
The white monkey looked like it was the victim being persecuted with an unjust death. An uninformed person would easily believe that the dragon and everyone else were the bullies for ganging up on the monkey.
Only they knew that the innocent white monkey was the oppressor for so many years and was now getting what he deserved. But even with the last avatar dying right in front of their eyes, they still found it hard to believe.
If not for the fact that the entire Blessed Heaven was now shaking, they would have believed that what just happened never happened. So now, everyone turned to look at Black Chains to see him fall.
After the white monkey’s body was destroyed, a glowing white chain was left where its body should have been. This white chain was supposed to be the last Supreme Metac that Black Chains possessed. Without it, Black Chains should die.
With the white monkey dead, the star representing the Enslavement Supreme Metac dimmed and disappeared from the divine constellation. It was a complete and total disappearance followed by the mass crippling of every Divine Position in the pathway.
This star was the last of the five stars that the Four Directions Sect controlled in the Sea of Worlds. So without it, the Four Directions Sect no longer existed.
But far more than this repercussion, there was even something worse in store for Black Chains. Without a Supreme Metac, Black Chains would fall and die.
His death won’t be as lucky as Golden Sun’s death either. After all, without any Supreme Metacs, he wouldn’t even count as a Dao Initiate.
Golden Sun had spent many years hiding as a remnant of his old self. But at least, he had a chance to make a comeback. Black Chains would be so lucky.
While everyone was watching and waiting to see Black Chain’s demise, the impact of the loss of the Enslavement Pathway was causing the Blessed Heaven World to change. The changes were so impactful that they made this super world shake and rock in the void like a boat about to capsize.
It looked like the Blessed Heaven World was undergoing some kind of transformation. But no one was focusing on this for now. Instead, everyone was looking up at the sky at the Dao Lord who had his eyes closed to the world.
As they watched, they saw Black Chain’s entire body go dim. They felt the pressure weaken until it became as faint as a cool breeze on the skin. In comparison, the pressure of the existence of his fellow Dao Lords was as heavy as volcanoes erupting and spewing forth lava and ashes.
Black Chain’s existence became so crippled that even someone as blind as Loki could see that he was dying. It was clear at a glance that Black Chain’s body would become so dim that he would stop producing light eventually. Then his existence would fall apart.
In the face of all of these expectations, Black Chain’s body dimmed until it stopped dimming. The pressure of his existence also stopped weakening.
"What is going on?" someone asked.
He looked like a candle that only had a burning wick left. There was no flame whatsoever in this candle. Yet, the remnant heat in the wick refused to go out.
The wick continued to glow a dull red like a burning charcoal. In this state, it could die at any moment, but it was also possible that the wick could produce flame again with the right conditions and fuel.
Martial Will grinned and said, "It is finally here. I thought I was mistaken."
Sighing in disappointment, Tepid Scholar said, "I guess we can’t have everything. At least he is at his weakest right now. That is good enough."
Heavenly Eye chuckled as he said, "So he had a secret sixth pathway. I am not surprised. I wonder what the pathway is, though?"
Laughing like he had won something, Martial Will asked, saying, "What use is a Supreme Metac when the weakest rank 9 can kill him?"
In response, Sword Maestro chuckled and said, "Don’t you mean rank 8? I don’t see how he can kill a rank 8 in his current state without being overwhelmed by the backlash of Entropy."
Despite being corrected by someone he considered an inexperienced greenhorn, Martial Will laughed and said in agreement, "You know what, you’re right. You’re so right it is hilarious!"
At this point, Sword Maestro’s chuckling had escalated into laughing out loud. As he laughed, he said, "Who is so weak that he can’t kill a rank 8 cultivator? Not me!"
Martial Will also said, "Who has become so weak that his greatest enemy is moving around? That would be the old gentleman over there on his last legs."
