Chapter 988: What Else?
Chapter 988: What Else?
Tepid Scholar said, "Maybe you’re right. Maybe I’m thinking about this too much. This is more good than bad."
Hearing him speak as if he was being forced to some unspeakable burden, Green Fire rolled her eyes at him. Then she changed the subject, saying, "Now that we’ve gotten over that insignificant matter, let’s talk about more important matters. Let’s talk about the ascension of your world."
Immobile Mountain heard this and became interested. He immediately asked Tepid Scholar, "Since the will of your world has been released, does that mean you will be ascending soon? When do you plan to do it?"
In reply, Martial snorted and said, "First of all, we are not ascending soon. Secondly, even if we plan to ascend, we won’t tell you the date for obvious reasons."
Unfortunately, Immobile Mountain didn’t believe him. This Dao Lord chuckled and said, "Come on now. I’m not so easy to fool."
"If you won’t tell me when you intend to ascend so that I won’t interfere and ruin it, doesn’t that mean you were lying to me earlier when you claimed your world wouldn’t ascend soon? Did you tell me that to deceive me?"
Before Martial Will could reply, Immobile Mountain said, "It is unfortunate that your attempt to deceive me didn’t work. But there is no need to reason. I have no reason to make you fail your ascension."
"I still have my super world, so I have no need for yours. In fact, I should be rooting for you to succeed in your ascension so that I can learn from it. So tell me when you plan it so that I can help you."
He said so much to coax information out of Martial Will, but it didn’t seem to work. Martial Will insisted, saying, "As I’ve said before, we’re not telling you anything."
After being rebutted so many times, Immobile Mountain had become fed up with Martial. So he snorted and said, "Fine. Be that way. It is not as if you can hide it from us. Everyone will be able to see it happen."
Unwilling to give up so easily, Green Fire made one last-ditch effort. She said to Tepid Scholar, "Are you really not going to tell us? What’s there to be afraid of?"
But Tepid Scholar shook his head and said, "I don’t even trust these three, and they share the Blessed Heaven World with me. If I had my way, I would kill them. So there is no way we can trust you, outsiders. Who knows what you will pull off?"
Since the four of them were unwilling to say when the Blessed Heaven World would ascend, Carefree Immortal decided to change the subject. Coincidentally, there was something he had been thinking about ever since he saw the changes in the Blessed Heaven World.
He had wanted to ask about it for a while now. Now that he had the chance to do so, he decided to take the opportunity.
He said skeptically to the four Dao Lords of the Blessed Heaven World, "I still can’t believe that Black Chains changed his mind. How did you manage to convince him? Or has he succeeded in enslaving the will of the world?"
Without blinking her large, colorful eyes, Heavenly Eye replied with a snort of derision, saying, "What could we have done to convince him? What could anyone do to convince him?"
Shaking her head and gritting her teeth in anger, she said, "When he has made up his mind like that, there is nothing, and there is no one who can make him change his mind. He always has to have his way?"
Nodding his head along, Sword Maestro said in agreement, "He is a control freak. Do you know that he forced every sect building belonging to the Four Directions Sect in the Blessed Heaven World and the entire Sea of Worlds to look alike?"
"He set the same dimension for every sect ground so that they would look alike everywhere. He is that much of a control freak. Even tiny insignificant things like that can’t be let go. So how can he let go of the opportunity of controlling the Blessed Heaven World?"
The person who asked the question, Carefree Immortal, said in frustration, "I didn’t ask for all of this information. A straightforward answer would have been good enough."
"No. A straightforward answer would have made your question sound reasonable."Heavenly Eye said in displeasure.
Then she scoffed as he said, "You’re asking us as if there was another alternative to him enslaving the will of the world. I couldn’t justify such a ridiculous question with a straightforward answer."
Ignoring her and her caustic words, Carefree Immortal said, "So Black Chains succeeded in enslaving the will of his world. I didn’t think he could do it. After all, the Blessed Heaven World has a Divine Spark while he doesn’t."
"In a struggle of attrition like that, the Blessed Heaven World should have won. After all, it can remove its Entropy into its world barrier while Black Chains is stuck with a life’s worth of Entropy."
She didn’t think that Black Chains would have succeeded either, but now she had to say, "What can I tell you? I guess that’s why he is the most powerful Dao Lord in the Sea of Worlds. It seems his raw power trumped the endurance of the Blessed Heaven World at the end of the day."
Carefree Immortal also didn’t think so, but there was no better and more plausible option. So he could only say, "It would seem so."
His voice was full of uncertainty, though. He wasn’t sure if this explanation was good enough to be true.
Of course, he wasn’t doubting Heavenly Eye and her claim that Black Chains succeeded in enslaving the Blessed Heaven World. How could he do something like that when there was no other reasonable explanation for why the will of the world had been allowed to move about again?
