Chapter 520: Take Care
Chapter 520: Take Care
Arriving in front of his courtyard house, Virus straightly called Archibald and others over and notified them, "I'll be gone for a while. Take care of everything until I return."
"But boss, where ar-"
"Don't ask, the less you know the better it will be for you. Just know that I'll be coming back sometime. Then… see you later." With that, turning around, Virus departed again.
A quarter of an hour later, Virus was standing in front of one of the four gates leading outside.
Shortly afterward, successfully leaving the city without any hindrances, he disappeared off to an unknown destination.
…
Meanwhile, sitting in the small suite inside the reserved inn, Aily was anxious at first. Fortunately, as time elapsed, all the tension gradually eased off as she threw herself onto the bed comfortably.
Around an hour later, closing both her eyes, Aily was about to fall deep asleep when the noise of the door forced her into a highly alert state.
The instant her eyes opened, Aily felt her heart jumping into her mouth due to fear as all color seemed to have drained from her face.
"W-w-what… h-how are you s-s-still alive?" Not quite comprehending how she had muttered that sentence herself, Aily inquired.
Right now, standing in front of her, there was a silhouette of a mature man with Viking-gold hair and bristly eyebrows.
As always, the way he carried himself gave him a devil-may-care outlook while his defined cheekbones elevated his mature aura to another level.
He stood right there while staring back at the wide-eyed Aily as his nomad-blue eyes twinkled in absolute indifference.
His dishy quality, ritzy dress, and overall dashing profile implied that he should be adored by the fairer sex unless there was a particular reason that stopped them from doing so.
All the identical qualities implanted in his behavior and those same features made Aily confident that the man standing in front of her was indeed the previously dead Blaze!
"Huh? You think I will die that easily?" Throwing that question back at the trembling Aily, with a trace of anger flickering within his tone, Blaze raised an eyebrow.
"N-No, y-you definitely d-died! I-I saw it with my own eyes! Ahh-" Just as she started shrieking in utmost trepidation, Blaze charged forward and covered her mouth.
"Hisss! Stop screaming! It's me, Vee! I was just joking around." Putting aside all the pretense and the implanted acting which was extremely similar to that of Blaze, the man notified Aily.
"Mmmmph!" However, it looked like Aily was having a hard time believing the man as she struggled and even went as far as to bite the palm covering her mouth.
"Ouch, it's seriously me, Vee! Think, you just saw me incinerate Blaze, there is no way he would be alive right now. I've simply changed my looks and body features, otherwise, I'm the same Vee you conversed with a while ago, so quiet down and please believe me." Finished explaining himself to her, Virus sincerely looked into her eyes and awaited her reaction expectantly.
On the other side, listening up to this moment, a shimmer of stupefaction passed through Aily's pupils with her wide eyes denoting the fact she was at least considering his assertion now.
That was mostly because she had indeed seen Blaze die in front of her eyes and she had even witnessed his corpse dematerialize before her.
Furthermore, looking at this new Blaze's behavior that was extremely similar to the Virus she knew, she became even more confident that it was truly the Vee she was acquainted with.
"Y-you're really that Vee?"
"Of course, how else would I be here if I wasn't him."
"B-but… how did you transform into Blaze? Are you perhaps the legendary thousand-faced demon?" She asked warily with her lips pursed together.
Tickled at her cautious behavior, Virus refuted the accusation, "Haha, I don't know who that is, but no, I'm not him."
"Then, how did you change your face?" Maintaining her wariness, Aily pointed at his face.
"Well, that's because I have an item which helps me imitate and transform into any face I want." By that, Virus was talking about the Shape-shifter technology which helps him change his appearance.
When Virus went outside Ricando earlier, his destination was to visit his spaceship to become Blaze himself.
Afterward, shape-shifting everything about himself precisely to that of Blaze, even his clothes, Virus returned to the inn.
"Then, change back to the Vee I know!" Desiring to see it with her own eyes, Aily proclaimed.
Shaking his head, however, Virus rejected, "No can do. That item of mine is too big and thus hidden somewhere outside the city. So, I can't transform into another face whenever I feel like it. I need to leave the city first."
"Ah, is that so? But looking at your behavior… you truly seem to be Vee! My god, how is this even possible?" Covering her mouth, Aily seemed to be in the process of completely accepting the reality in front of her.
"I just told you how…"
"I know… but still, this is too unbelievable."
"Well, anyway, as I told you, everything went according to the plan, so don't worry about a thing and just go back to the brothel."
"What are you going to do?"
"Isn't that crystal clear? I'll be replacing Blaze and keep him alive." Virus said, stating the obvious.
"Ah, that's amazing! But are you sure you won't be recognized? I heard cultivators can see through disguises easily…"
"Don't worry, my disguise isn't recognizable. I'll be totally fine." Since his transformation was a true change on a cellular level and not merely a surface adjustment, Virus was absolutely confident about his new identity.
"Anyway, as I said, it's okay now… I'll handle everything else; you just return to the brothel for the night." Virus repeated.
Being urged to go back to the brothel, however, a saddened and dejected expression covered Aily's profile.
"What's the matter?" Furrowing his brows, Virus didn't understand.
