Chapter 1211: Below Great Lords I AM Invincible [1].
Before the onlookers’ eyes, the city’s already immense walls surged even higher, but that was only the beginning, as a radiant pulse of energy enveloped the entire structure, instantly shifting the stone into a deep, glossy obsidian that gleamed like precious gems.
Watching from a distance, several of the Were-Tigers gulped in astonishment; captivated by the shimmering display, their innate attraction to glittering treasures had them contemplating whether they were to pry the wall’s gemstone-like blocks free rather than engage in battle with the humans.
Yet the transformation was far from complete, because near the upper edges of the city gates, gilded, golden fixtures materialized, resembling massive anchors supporting the fortified walls.
While the beastkin vanguard stood entranced by the sheer opulence of the battlements, their commanders struggled to comprehend the nature of the magic unfolding before them.
At first, the officers speculated that this grand appearance was the gate’s true form and the previous sight merely an illusion.
Yet, they could not ignore the physical surge of the walls when they rose higher, nor the immense wave of mana that had radiated across the massive stone structure.
A chill ran through their bodies as they considered the vast order of mages that it would take to accomplish such a feat, they instantly counted themselves fortunate for not recklessly ordering a charge starlight into Alec’s domain,
Because they realized that if such destructive magical power were turned against them instead, then it could mean the complete annihilation of all the weaker cannon fodders they have brought for the battle.
Little did they know, this spectacle was not the work of a circle of mages at all, but the intervention of a far higher power, before the onlookers’ surprise could even settle, strange, unfamiliar weapons began to materialize out of thin air along the top of the city walls.
These newly deployed weapons were massive cannons.
Without holding back, Alec had instantly purchased and positioned them across key defensive zones: along the section where the Beastkin were expected to attack, facing the sector where the fallen human city lay, and in the central region aimed directly at the place he expected the Zerg army attack to emerge from.
Fortunately, his palace was the highest vantage point in his entire domain, so it gave him a commanding, unobstructed view of all three sectors.
In addition, his system interface provided him with live video feeds monitoring every angle at a much closer view.
With the artillery deployed, Alec moved to his next objective which is purchasing twelve Archer Towers and six Mage Towers.
Like the cannons, these new structures are initially stored inside his City Heart inventory when he purchases have been made from the store.
However, instantly he purchased them he would then retrieve them and position them in specific locations, using the system layout of his domain before him all he had to do was move the miniature version towards the location in the layout, and the next second in reality the buildings would then materialize in midair as though constructed from nothing.
He distributed the defenses across the sections targeted for attack, assigning four Archer Towers and two Mage Towers to each.
Upon initial deployment, the Archer Towers appeared unimposing—constructed entirely of basic wood and anchored directly into the edges of the towering city walls, with a structure barely spacious enough to accommodate two archers at most.
Compared to the majestic city walls, the newly placed archer and magic towers appeared surprisingly unthreatening. However, Alec was far from finished.
He immediately set to work leveling them up, and after two consecutive upgrades, both structures underwent a drastic transformation.
The archer tower was completely overhauled, taking on a formidable appearance as though built from solid steel and reinforced brickwork.
Meanwhile, the magic tower evolved into a soaring spire that seemed carved from a single, giant purple gemstone, a brilliant violet glow swirled around its spiral staircase, illuminating the structure as the runes etched into its body drew surrounding ambient mana directly toward its peak.
Alec briefly reviewed the description of the Mage Towers, which revealed that they not only amplified the damage of spells cast by any mage atop them, but also significantly accelerated their mana recovery rate.
Turning his attention to the Archer Towers, he confirmed that they enhanced the power and armor penetration of the defenders’ arrows. Furthermore, the structures kept the stationed archers on it energized, reducing their fatigue during prolonged arrow volleys and preventing finger injuries caused by repeatedly drawing heavy bowstrings.
While Alec was occupied with these supernatural preparations that stunned the watching beastkin, distant shrieks grew increasingly louder as the Zerg Horde began its direct advance toward his territory.
“My King! The Zergs are approaching our defensive boundaries!” reported Connor, floating nearby by using his Qi to hold himself aloft in the air. He called out to Alec, who remained levitating while tapping at the invisible air in front of him.
Although his inner circle could not see Alec‘s system interface like they could see each other’s own when they summoned their regional chats and other related system sections, but just by seeing him tapping into empty space they were sure that Alec was working on a system, which they were absolutely certain what he was doing was definitely connected to these miraculous changes that was occurring around them.
For a long time, they had felt a deep veil of mystery around Alec, even if they could never quite explain it.
Given the vast array of unique power systems in the Origin Realm, Alec saw no reason to extensively hide all of the powers of his system from them any longer.
Even if they didn’t know all his secrets, they had already witnessed and experienced countless developments born from it just like the builders and other changes that were happening in their cities, the fact that they never brought it up didn’t mean they were oblivious; they understood it was his personal secret.
Knowing that extraordinary mages always harbored secrets of their own, they refrained from prying into his as he was family to them.
"Identify which of our perimeter settlements will face the initial onslaught from the Zergs," Alec demanded without delay,
"and determine which neighboring cities are positioned to reinforce them without compromising our other defensive fronts should any of the other two offensive commence."
"Agnes and Endrick," Connor answered swiftly, naming the strongholds adjacent to the one Titan currently held; as he confirmed that mobilizing their military forces would not leave the remaining two sectors they feared any attack would come from vulnerable to the anticipated pincer movements.
Alec shifted his gaze toward the two lords of the nearby sub-cities.
There was no need for verbal commands; they understood his silent directive instantly, they offered a respectful bow before marching moving swiftly towards the teleport nexus, vanishing from his sight in an instant.
With the other two hostile armies remaining stationary, Alec found himself caught in a moment of indecision regarding which region required his direct presence.
At this stage, only the Zerg swarm had committed to an advance, and he hesitated to join that fray, fearing that his departure would leave the central command seat dangerously unoccupied.
